What incited me to enter this little corner shop sandwich shop was the advertisement of a cappuccino. I presumed from the outside that it was a normal sandwich shop with a good coffee machine so was intrigues to enter on my way back from the woods. Oh, how mistaken I was, on stepping inside there was a beautiful Aga style oven (it could well by the genuine article, cannot believe I didn't ask) with cakes baking and cake stands holding beautifully decorated cakes and biscuits (the millionaire shortbread and cheery covered cake stick in my mind) all made on the premises. To the left the windows are filled with little gifts; jams and pickles from Pudsey, honey from a small local apiary, free-range eggs, hand-made bags, beautiful rag-dolls and Easter-egg style Christmas delights from the owner's chocolatier friend.
Many of the items for sale are local, hand-made, or have a special decadent twist. The sandwiches have lovely choice of fillings and I drank a large, yummy coffee whilst several regular customers came in for their orders...a better stamp of approval than I could give. I am looking forward to this turning into a café. read more
