Matt did a great job of giving me a style that can be both (with a bit of product to make the transition between looks). My wife has also had her hair coloured here (from brunette to blonde and back again - not an easy transition to do without causing problems). They did a perfect job of it whilst leaving her hair well looked after. No mean feat. I've moved to the US now but when ever I'm back home in Bath I make sure I've got a booking and get a well needed decent cut (I've yet to find anywhere in Los Angeles that does as good a job as this magical salon - my search continues).

Hayley managed to lighten my hair far more than I thought she would and spent hours ensuring that everything was perfect. All of the staff were friendly and welcoming, but both of my wax treatments were not up to scratch and I came away with patchy legs and a wonky bikini line. Then I went for a restyle with the master stylist and came away an hour and a half later with barely any style at all. For at least half of the time in the hair salon I was waiting around and, though I was given a magazine and some water, the salon was not very busy at all to be sharing a stylist. Overall the treatments cost nearly £20 more than what was quoted to my partner when he had bought the vouchers for me, meaning I had to pay extra for my own birthday present! The worst was the handling of the situation. When I emailed to ask for my personal details to be removed, I hilighted the above as my reasoning and received a phone call from the manager, who happened to be my stylist. She accepted the wax was not good enough and offered for me to come and get them redone, but was so adamant that there was nothing wrong with the service she provided she spent the majority of the phone call being defensive and repeating the same points again and again despite my response. She didn't even comment on the misquoted price. My partner and I forked out three figures for a basic haircut and dodgy wax jobs. By the end of the long phone call, I felt so bullied down that I just didn't want to argue anymore. There's no way I could return with all the bad feeling left now. I have also found 5* reviews left by the management for their own business and all of their ratings are high on their website because customers can't leave a review.

New Saville Row is one of the oldest barbershops in Bath, having been around for over 50 years according to the owners. Most of the staff have also been around for decades, which, in these changing times, signals there must be some staying power in the business. They are conveniently located near Bath Abbey, and having recently moved into the area as a student I recently tried them out after having had terrible experiences at two other barbershops in Bath. I have extremely weird hair that appears to have a mind of its own, and I need to do some explaining to the barbers before they begin. Most are just not interested and decide to hack away, only for me to be in worse shape than I was before within two weeks. At Saville Row, I found the expert barbers were very friendly and patient- they explained why my hair should be tackled in a certain way and would not let up until I was pleased. A shampoo cut cost me 19 pounds, although there are various options. So it is not the cheapest in town, but I have had bad experiences in Bath with anyone charging under about 15. Very friendly and knowledgeable about general affairs too - felt extremely comfortable and will return!
