I have very thick hair and Paulina can tame it. I also have naturally curly hair. I wanted highlights and she gave me exactly what I wanted. Instead of combing my hair with a thin teeth comb she put tons of conditioner and used a wide tooth comb starting at the ends and working her way up to detangle t. I loved this. Every other salon I go to it feels as tho they are yanking my hair out. She also uses heat protectant so I don't loose my curls. I'll post my curls before and it straightened. read more

Nirfa was amazing. She took me in on an emergency, after I was accidentally 17 minutes late with my usual stylist of 5 yrs, ridiculously resulting in the loss of my entire 2hr slot. Nirfa kindly fit me in at the end of her long day, at 6:30 pm... and her work on my difficult fragile, baby fine hair, was great, and at a fraction of my usual cost. I had important events the following day, and week...and couldn't have been happier with my cut and color, along with the true kindness and professionalism of Nirfa. She is amazing with my hair! If you're looking for a good dominican blowout or even a great deep conditoning treatment at a great price, this is it. I have been going to Nirfa for over a year a now, recommended by someone else and I have 2 of my co-workers going to her as well. She was previously working at another salon and recently opened her own place. She does have 3 other stylists in the salon as well who are bilingual and professional and the place itself is very simple. They are open from 10-8, Mon-Sat. I love coming here because it's not a gossipy salon, they're all so courteous and accomodating and very knowledgeable. They know what your hair needs and won't do anything to it if they know it will be damaging. My hair doesn't like to cooperate sometimes and she knows how to get it in superstar shape and so bouncy and soft!! read more

I say this with confidence because I've tried several other salons/stylists and no-one has come close to the level of skill that Pauline demonstrates during my visits. Pauline doesn't only "style" she treats the health of your hair and scalp. She offers advise on affordable products that you can use at home during salon visits. She values her clients' time and this is not a stylist who keeps you for hours due to overbooking. She listens to her client's needs and when you leave her chair - you won't be disappointed. She's worked miracles in bringing dull and damaged hair back to healthy bouncy and vibrant. She's a hair-whisperer!! Love this place!! I'm a New Yorker and have been going to Pauline for the last 5-6 years and she's the only person I will trust with my hair. I have naturally type 4a coily curly hair and whenever I get it blown out by her not only does it takes 1-2 hours max but so many of my friends ask me if I got a relaxer. That's how sleek, shiny and gorgeous it looks. I recently had her fix my color disaster I got, stupidly, by another hairdresser. I was so upset because I asked for balayage and I end up with what looked like a blind folded 5 year old just threw color at my head, just a blotchy mess. Amazingly, Pauline fixed it and it looked amazing. I went back to get ombré and now I am soooo in love with my hair. I finally have the color and style I've been admiring on other curly girls for years now. I didn't want to blunt ombré look so we did highlights first and then ombré. She also recommended products to help with the brassy and orange tones that darker hair likes to do when lightened. She's also done feed in braids for me for a summer and they were great. I would 100% recommend Pauline for whatever hair needs you have. She also does my mom's as well as my sister's hair and they are both still relaxed so she's great with natural and relaxed hair! I have had the hardest times finding new hair salons away from home. I have had the same hair lady since I was 2. It was my first time getting a Dominican blowout and I loved how it looked! She also did a perfect job trimming my ends, which I was nervous because of bad experiences elsewhere getting my hair cut. I would def recommend this shop..also a bonus that she's open until 8 during the week..so it works with the work schedule! You'll love this salon, I promise! read more

She did a good job on my hair and I was a regular but I had to stop coming here. I don't like overbooking or a hairdresser with that leaves me under the driver longer than necessary to run her errands. What a horrible experience I had at this salon. I had no idea this salon catered to black women. The only picture I say online was through goggle and it was a white girl. I went to get a particle perm and a hair cut. She permed my entire hair, with the bottom two inches never getting permed. My beautiful hair was so dry, or fried that I have to start deep conditioning treatments. She would not cut my hair, maybe she didn't know how to cut a white persons hair, just like she doesn't know how to perm it. I had to go 3 days later to another salon to a real stylist who had to cut almost 2 inches off to try to match up what was curled. The entire time I was there she kept telling me story emphasizing Caucasian people she know. BTW we don't like being called Caucasian where white. read more

Nirfa is excellent. I've lived in tampa for three years. Originally from New York. The humidity here in Florida its horrible. Nirfa did the botox hair treatment on my hair suppose to last about 3 months. I had for 5 months ..the frizz on my hair is manageable..Nirfa has a great sense of listening to my hair troubles and she is not about the money she really cares about your hair. This salon and the staff here was by far the best I have seen who can work with my hair. I have type 4a kinky coily hair. Once a year I would like it straighten for a length check and clipped. They did all the right things. They detangled my hair the correct way after washing. I had a deep conditioner and I was in and out of the chair in no time. Great prices. I recently moved down here from Brooklyn NY where there is a hair salon virtually everywhere. The competitive salons would give better prices plus outstanding services (IMO). I've had my share of diverse salons with different owners and this salon by far is the worst. Not only is the owner (head stylist) always in a rush, she fails to meet even regular standards which is expected in any salon business. Sadly because there aren't many salons within the area people probably feel forced to deal with her nonsense. My hair came out of a weave and was in desperate need of a perm. I explained to her that my ends are processed and my new growth had grown a lot ( at that moment any beautician with a license should know that it would tangle terrible with a normal wash). She quickly had a response of "well don't worry don't worry let me look". Mind you my hair was combed out in a bun, dirty from the weave which is normal. She was running her fingers through my hair flawlessly as she said my hair was too dirty to perm. Okay. Understandable. But instead of listening to me warn her about washing it and making it a tangled mess she promised over and over that it wouldn't and that she's going to blow it out and take care of it. I normally do not put blind faith into anything But I had jobs to stop by and interviews to do this week so I had to take what I could get. She took me to the shampoo bowl and scrubbed my hair insanely. Water splashing all over the place including all down my neck and in my face. I had to shield my eyes. Never had I experienced that in my seven years going to multiple salons. By the time she was done scrubbing hair to death she had realized the warning I gave her was real. My hair was in dreadful knots ! The kind of knots that you'd have to work at for a whole day or more! She proceeded then to blame me for crappy hair!? My hair was completely combed through and ready to go before she touched it! I knew right then I should have left when she said she couldn't perm it but let me tell you the last person to perm it before I had a friend braid it up into a weave WAS HER! My hair broke off so badly that I had to keep myself from crying right there in the chair as her and another beautician picked at my head trying to salvage it. I knew that I would have to cut my hair down to barely anything and start over but I also knew I would of had my shoulder length hair still if I made a decision to leave right at the beginning. Or maybe if she just accepted my warning and firmly said "I can't do it" On top of this she was rushing and being rough explaining that she had to leave soon. This was the same behavior projected at the previous visit. Pulling at my hair with the comb fast and hard blaming me for not keeping my head still. Then she used the flat iron on my damp hair because she "did not have the time". I know a lot of women have gone through some hair issues in their life but this was ridiculous. I want to warn people contemplating about visiting. You will be waiting a long time due to her jumping around from person to person - even with wet hair at the shampoo bowl you'll be waiting. You'll be nearly drowned there too if you don't bring goggles. And unless you speak Spanish or unless you're a close friend you will be just another person to be rushed out with a sub par style. read more

First I went in for a trim my hair was about half my back long it wasn't bad I have thick Caucasian hair , so I wanted a trim but she was so rude(nirfa) was and I couldn't stand it but I needed a trim back so I stayed , she didn't was my hair she sprayed it which I found was so weird , she used a comb she used on a different client ! So I told her less then a inch she started chopping my hair away I literally was about to cry I have choppy uneven hair my bangs are all messed up ! TRUST ME stay away go to a pro just pay 50$ at least that comes with a wash and style then coming here and getting your hair messed up ! read more

Nirfa herself left a bad taste in my mouth, but Pauline is the best hairdresser I have EVER had. I have mid-back-length natural black hair and Pauline worked through it like a fairy godmother. There was no wait! She washed and conditioned it thoroughly -- three times! She detangled it with a wide tooth comb, which proves her expertise in dealing with black hair. She didn't burn my scalp ONCE through the whole blow-dry and straightening, and she even trimmed it. AND she charged me less than Nirfa, who didn't wash the hair properly, didn't use the right tools, left me under a dryer hood for four hours (no joke), then burned me with both the blow dryer and the straightener. I give this salon four stars overall because my experience with Nirfa herself was awful, but Pauline gets SIX STARS from this happy client! read more

I have gone to this salon a number of times and did not have a bad experience until recently. I had Nirfa work on my hair and my daughter's hair. She did a great job on my daughter's - I was hooked. However, her business operation is another matter. A few weeks ago, she had to leave to pick up her kid from school (which is fine) however she left my daughter at the sink bowl and asked another stylist to blow dry it. My daughter sat there long enough for her hair to frizz up. That stylist did not re-wet her hair, instead she proceed to brush it and put big curlers on it. Mind you, the hair was dry so she was rolling a frizzy portion of her hair on the curler. When Nirfa returned a half hour later, she took out the rollers and began to blow dry it. My daughter has a sensitive scalp as it is so this action was uncomfortable. Nirfa said something to her which I didn't hear clearly but her body language implied that she was moving around too much. Ummm, because it was hurting her! The end result was not the same soft and silky to the touch or look that we had experienced during other visits. As I was paying the bill, I expressed my displeasure to Nirfa that her hair was dry rolled and that it was not the same as before and all she said was insincerely "ok, I'm sorry." No discount either for doing a bad job or leaving the job to someone else who didn't care. My last and final appt occurred today and I'm still fuming! I made an appt for my daughter for today at 3:30. My husband took her to the appt and attempted to open the door but it was locked. I called and the line kept ringing and ringing. My husband also called twice and no one answered. At 4:30 (my husband waited there), Nirfa exits the salon, turns back on the OPEN sign, sweeps and enters the salon again. I guess she unlocked the door. Of course, my husband calls me and so I call the salon and she answers! I said "Nirfa, my daughter had a 3:30 appt, over an hour ago." I got the "ok, I'm sorry" line again and if I wanted to bring her in now. Uh, no. I said "well, is there any price concession seeing that the previous time, her hair didn't last long and since we were waiting over an hour... no, its the same price. I'm dumbfounded! I said "my husband has been waiting and he saw you turn on the OPEN sign." Again, "ok, I'm sorry. I was in the back." I told her that she does a good job, but lacked professional courtesy to call and let her clientele know that she wouldn't be there. I told her that we wouldn't be back and if someone asked me that I'd relay both bad experiences. She sarcastically responded "ok, thank you." I'm NEVER going back there again. Its sad because she does a good job with a wash and style. Just HORRIBLE customer service!!!! Beware!! read more
