I would get 0 stars if I could. I have never wrote a review before but now I have to. Do not go here without being careful. I asked for simple highlights and I left looking like an old lady with gray hair and damaged ends. The manager won't pick up my calls and said they can't do anything for me to make it right. I asked my friend Carla where she had her hair balayage color done? She referred me to HQ Aveda at Wiregrass so I made an appt. Come to find out , I read about the founder while enjoying my hair wash founder Horst was a herbalist and wanted to offer a plant based color option for hair color. I was offered coffee after checking in and from there I was well taken care of by Ariana . She listened to what I was looking for and voila I left very happy with the results. What is balayage: Dye or lightener is usually painted on, starting midshaft and becoming denser as it moves down the section of hair to the ends. read more

Hmm, I was running late and called 5 minutes late to say I was about 5 minutes away and they said that's fine. Pretty much walking in and they said they couldn't take me because still washing out someone else. Btw, often wait 5-10 minutes for appt when you do show up on time. Anyway, I had a 30 minute slot and they are still on the last client (during my time slot). Pretty much a weak excuse for being behind and cutting out a short men's haircut appointment. Whole family comes here but do not recommend you come here anymore. Adding insult, they can't process refund of credit card pre-payment as that's the online team and not the store team so more time wasted. Quite ridiculous and low quality service. Unfortunate to see and hope they learn from this review...always a fan of process improvement. read more

HQ has a friendly staff and I love Aveda products. The salon is a bit worn, in need of some updating. The crew at the front desk don't always know the prices and policies. They told me I would get a discount with referrals. I brought a friend in for a hair cut and asked about the discount. They told me at my next visit I would receive a discount. When I came back for my color a few weeks later they told me they had entered something wrong and couldn't offer me the promised discount, they could give it to me on my NEXT visit. Guess what, I now do not trust them, I will not be back. I was not disappointed my stylist, I was disappointed in the way they do business! read more

I was very disappointed in the way the manager handled my bad experience. I scheduled a hair color at 12pm and asked the stylist to give me peek a boo pink tips on the under side of my hair about 2 inches long so you would see them when I curled my hair. 3 hours later I was horrified to find a crooked coloring with pink up to the crown of my head. See attached photos. I refused to have the stylist fix my hair any further and to top it off, I had a family event I needed to attend that evening. The manager was not at the store but talked to me on the phone. She only offered me 20% off and I ended up paying $174! My hair got fixed by my regular hair stylist 2 days later. Made an appt for a Keratin, I was asked to come in prior to my Sat June 12th 2pm w/Layla/Kayla; for a free consultation. Wednesday June 9th I was given a consultation by someone else; Keratin process was explained & I was told 2-2.50 solution may be used approx 2-2 1/2hrs & would cost about $215. (it was a bd gift)I agreed $ reconfirmed my appt. as I'm walking out the receptionist called me back and said I needed to leave a deposit of 15% or 50% (didn't really hear her clearly). I was taken back for several reasons- I've never heard of putting a deposit for a hair appt especially that I made a special trip from Bushnell to Wesley Chapel 1 hr drive just for a 15min consultation. 2nd nowhere on their website does it state a deposit requirement. During the consultation & going over everything I needed to know was there a deposit for the service mentioned. After speaking with 2 of hq salon personnel a manager came over to speak to me & she stated that any service of 3 hrs or more requires a deposit. I responded "well that exempts me since I was told 2-2 1:2hrs. The manager paused for a moment- decided I would still have to leave a deposit. I told the lady that I decided not to have this service at this time. I then reconfirmed another appt for someone else and canceled mine. The manager had an opportunity to do the right thing & just say there was a misunderstanding & just say we will see you Saturday. Saturday June 12th the other person who still had the appt & I reconfirmed- somehow was not showing that he had an appt. When he checked his phone he said to the receptionist it says 2pm June 12th with Layla/Kayla?- her response was Layla/Kayla is not here today.. Wow - I just sat there quietly in disbelief. Fortunately the same stylist who gave me the consultation was available. She was pleasant & gave him a great haircut. It's sad that the customer service was extremely poor by the front desk & managers. I retired & worked in the airline industry for over 27 yrs. have been to the best salons in Beverly Hills, Ca, Costa Mesa, Ca ,Manhattan,NY & several Aveda Salons Upland & have paid much less. I've never been asked for a deposit. if it was posted in there website. It was not I could have made a decision if I still wanted to go to this salon - they did not want my business & that's fine. Everyone in here was very rude . I came in with a special needs child (who by law and CDC is not required to wear a mask) she was sitting quietly next to me on her iPad . Not talking moving just being extremely well behaved. The customer next to me threw a fit and the management made me move child around 3 different times because a customer was complaining. Can I give 0 stars? Never posted a review on YELP but had to this time. Wasted my money. Paid for a chignon up-do on the day of my company christmas party 2010 and was dealing with a pure amateur. Her name was JOYLYNN THOMAS. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and specifically asked her if she could do it and she said yes. She then spent 25 minutes doing something else. When I finally stopped her to ask to look at it so far, it was totally NOT what I showed her. I asked her if there was a reason she was doing a different style. She said that she was doing a different spin on what I asked for. I asked if there was a problem with doing the up-do I wanted, she said no. She un-did the work she already spent 25 minutes doing. Mind you, I have no extra time to play with because my company christmas party was a few hours away. Then she stopped in the middle of the job and asked someone to help her. When the other woman showed her what to do, she worked a little bit more and added a crap load of pomade to my bangs. I wanted soft wispy side-swept bangs so of course there was no undoing the grease-slick on my forehead. Then she added hairspray. Ugh! Towards the end, she talked to the woman who helped her and came back to me and said the other woman was going to finish you off. No apology. Nothing. She walked off. The other woman was a pro and did the best she could with the time I had left. I wanted to cry and the woman felt so bad. She said the only way to do what I asked for was to wash my hair and start over. Of course I had no time and just asked her to slick the whole thing back because of all the pomade. I can actually say,its easier for people to write bad reviews when they're angry then when they are completely satisfied. I on the other hand I just left there and I am completely satisfied beyond belief. I went in with a nasty rats nest as a head of hair and a great stylist names Melissa saved me from this straw motorcycle hair thing I had going on and I cant thank her and Aveda enough. I feel pretty again and that's super important! lol! So if you need your hair done right go there and I will seriously vouch for Melissa. she has tattoos and her ears gauged out and is a super sweetheart with a ton of talent. Thanks again guys! Had highlights but they didn't turn out as expected but staff made efforts to correct it which went well. The problem was the "manager". She basically tried to blow me off, which reflected her poor management/customer skills, inability to correct problems, and inability to time manage because she tried to push me away by suggesting they were booked. I was present at the salon and I insisted they make the correction while I was there. If I had not been more assertive, then she probably would never had her staff correct it. All in all, if this individual was out of the equation, my rating would be higher. She is quite the canine mammal! read more

I've been going here for over a year and I'm a fan. It's a convenient location at Wiregrass Mall. The front desk people aren't particularly friendly or anything, but the hairstylists are so great. I've been going to Crissy for over a year now, and I completely trust her with my hair. She's super sweet and great to talk to; she remembers all kinds of things, which is so surprising since she sees me once every 6-8 wks. What a sweetheart! She also gives some great haircare advice (like which shampoos/conditioners are great, affordable and which you need to avoid) and new haircut suggestions (which I needed; I've been wearing my hair the same way for years). They way prices are set are by the hairstylist's experience, so if you're tight on dough and are dealing with a newbie, be prepared for what that may mean. So I'd suggest being EXTRA communicative, bring pictures, and ask questions (would I even look good with a blunt bang?). If she's all done blowdrying your hair and you imagined your bangs a little shorter, tell her BEFORE you get up from that chair. From my experience, the hairstylists will do their best to ensure you walk out of there feeling beautiful. read more

I wasn't going to get a haircut today. I met my friend at HQ Salon so we could walk to lunch. When we were finished, my friend suggested I check out the salon. I'm so glad I did!! Super sweet gal, Sharon, showed me around and sat me down for a minute. I needed a refresh on my (already short) cut and she did an excellent job!! I absolutely love it. I will be back! Not many stylist know how to cut a DA. Sharon went to an expert in the salon and they discussed how to cut my hair. MY HAIR CAME OUT PERFECT!! THANKS SHARON!! read more

I had a fantastic experience today with Myrna. This was my third Aveda salon I have been to and it was by far the best. The staff was very welcoming and professional. Myrna styled my hair in a way that was even better then I had envisioned. The second best part about the experience was the hand massage and warm facial towel (the best part was the haircut)! I called and came in to show the manager the next day, she offered to correct it but I just did not even trust them to fix it. I had to go to another salon to have it color fixed! read more

Unfortunately it was not a very pleasant one-- First off-- I have been going to the same Aveda salon in Cary, IL for 10 years and have been using the same products and the same solutions for the most part for that long-- I am here for business months at a time and had to get my hair done while here.. Made the appt and your facility did contact mine in IL about my chart--- I had Dana-- friendly gal and very much explained everything to me don't get me wrong. Your salon I have to say is not really up to par -- there are mismatched lights all throughout your building and the decor seems really dated for being a high end salon-- especially in the mall and area you are in-- your prices are more than I pay at home. I have never had 2 bowls for my thin hair first of all-- 2nd I felt that I was being talked up to buy all these things and felt like I was at a car dealership from start to finish-- The worst part of my experience was you burned my scalp during the wash process-- I guess there is a difference between liquid and lotion product--- my head was burning I wanted to scream. It got rinsed and did subside though. I am unsure if this made my color turnout horrible-- I look 10 years older with brown hair now not blond-- As I proceeded to leave your front manager did not even offer any discounts or anything on my experience- I believe the whole salon knew what was going on-- how embarrassing for you. I did proceed to ask for something off and she was very rude like I did something wrong--- anyhow I then got pressured once again to buy products--- I know what I need and when as again I have been going to the same aveda salon for 10 years-- feel free to call them *** In closing--- I will never be back to your facility and when I move here I especially will be letting other people know of my experience. When I called the salon, I asked for a specific stylist. I explained to the person who answered the phone that I am a former salon owner and that my hair is very short and very fine. Therefore I am aware that it is important to get a stylist who is good with that specific hair type and style. The receptionist convinced me to go with a different stylist than the one I requested. Once the stylist brought me back to her chair we talked about my hair color and my cut. She said that she wanted to go to a level eight and I said that is much too light for me. I always do between levels six and seven. I expected to get color with some partial highlights. She wanted to upsell me a toner which I have never needed before and also a conditioning treatment that I said no to because I can condition it at home with professional products. When she had the color on she explained that I was going to have to have the toner after all because my old highlights were yellow. I told her that my old highlights were white so obviously she did not do a good job with the color and needed to put on a toner. When she came out with the mixed color she brought out three color bowls of color which was not what I asked for. And in fact when the process was completed my hair was much too light. She did not listen to what I wanted. I showed her examples of the way I would like my haircut and she ignored those as well. Including the tip, I paid over $300 for a terrible color and a terrible haircut. I will never go back there and would recommend them to no one. $300 for bad hair color and a bad haircut is outrageous. This was a bad experience from the very start. It began with the receptionist who steered me toward an obviously inexperienced stylist that had no idea what to do with my hair (it took over 4 hours for my very short hair) and then the stylist who didn't listen to anything I wanted. When I owned a salon, the stylist was expected to call a new client the day following the appointment to ensure that they were satisfied with the service. If they were not, we immediately rectified it. There was no customer service follow up with this very expensive appointment. What a shame! read more

Today was my first hair appointment at HQ Aveda. I had learned about a special complimentary botanicals blow out treatment that was available for a limited time, and in desperate need of a hair cut, I decided to try it out. I was extremely pleased with my stylist (Sharon) who gave me a head massage and hand massage in addition to my botanicals treatment before my hair cut. She was very kind and friendly and made my experience one that I would definitely return to the salon for. She did a great job on my hair, giving me a cut that I really like and I hope to encourage my friends/family to try it out for themselves. The salon itself is very high end and can yet be quite affordable and price competitive to many other salons depending on the level of stylist you choose. I would definitely recommend you try it. I have been to this place twice. The first time I got an amateur, someone right out of college, and the second time I asked for someone with more experience, but he was only 19-20 years old. For the quality of my cut (terrible both times), I could have gone to a beauty school and paid $15. The stylists are really nice and all, and the shop is clean, but they do not have the experience to cut hair. For the amount of money they charge (I paid $100 for a cut and highlight) they should hire experienced hairstylists. Shame on the management! read more

My husband has been here twice and both times the stylists did not understand what he wanted out of his cut. The second time he was there we had made an appointment for a higher skilled stylists and an hour before his appointment he got a phone call to reschedule because his stylist was running late. When he eventually went in for his appointment he was scheduled with a stylist with a lowest level of experience, which showed in her skill level for sure. They never mentioned the difference in skill level of who he was seeing. We just figured it out when we were going to pay. Both stylists did a bad job and we unfortunately won't go back. In February, I went in for brown color and light blonde highlights. The stylist asked if I had a picture, I did, one of their books. I told her before she started I did not want to be all blonde. All seemed well until she applied a toner, she left and came back with 2 other stylists, they kept rubbing my hair and applying something. Long story short I had red orange streaks throughout my hair (one of the stylists told me it was everywhere). They said the stylist that damaged my hair was going back to color classes. I could not go in a pool or the gulf, no highlights until November bc my hair was so damaged. I believe it was a mistake and since they saw what happened I would let them do corrective work. The second stylist applied an ash to cover orange/red hues, I also showed her the pic, not even close to what I wanted but it looked nice but only lasted 2 shampoos (used purple shampoo she agreed to and damage control conditioner). After 2nd shampoo my hair is brassy blond with orange red highlights. This happened twice, asked for appt with their colorist. Today at appt, I showed her the pic, she started giving me a bad time, saying the soft brown in the pic was blonde (It wasn't, I'm a registered nurse, I can tell colors). Then she said she was "confused". That was it for me, I left. The colorist's job was to try and correct what happened, not to give the customer a bad time. I found it both immature and unprofessional. Do not use this salon for all the above reasons. They may damage your hair and don't know how to correct it. read more

I have been to several salons over the past two years I have been in Tampa and I have to say this is the best experience I have ever had. I came in with a huge mistake of me trying to color my own hair, which turned out black and pretty damaged hair, when I left my hair looked and felt so much better. There are no words to explain how amazing Sharon was, she totally pulled off a miracle with my hair. To top it off, she went over the different options with me so I wasn't surprised at the end with the price, and gave me a realistic understanding of what the outcome could potentially be with the color so I wasn't expecting something I didn't get. The thing I have to say was the best part about her, was her personality. Sharon has the be the sweetest stylist I have ever had. This is the worst hair salon I have ever been to. I went in for a hair coloring and when I told them what I wanted they said they couldn't do that but they could do something near this. This was also a level 2 hair stylist. I was starting to get colored and she did a hair strand test and she said she could get close to the color I wanted. She kept asking questions to the other stylists. She got all my hair color on and walked away. When she came back she in she told me my service was going to be 300.00. I about died! What could I do? I was stuck. I am a social worker and could never afford that. I had to put it on my credit card because I had only saved 160.00 which is what it cost every other time I had been there for a color and cut. I have been to some really experienced stylists and it was NEVER more than 200.00. I knew a level 2 stylist couldn't charge that much. I considered not giving a tip but I wasn't raised that way. 330.00 for a color and cut for a level 2 stylist. I was seriously scammed. I'm not one to write reviews, ever, but had such an annoying experience I felt the need to share. First it started by going in to do a special - $150 for cut, style, highlights, and brow wax, with a newer stylist. Seemed like a good deal, however once I got there for my appt they told me it was going to be $219, as they charge $30 for toner and said I'd need extra product for my hair which is just past shoulder length. I told them I'd rather skip the cut so they agreed to only charge me $180, still more then the advertised price for the package. The girl took over 2 hours to put all the foils in, so by the time the front ones got in, the back ones were over processed. This resulted in my hair becoming extremely damaged, yet there were no highlights in the front and my roots were still dark. I still tipped the girl and left, and as I was checking out they tried selling me hair products which was annoying being I already was overcharged for a mediocre style. The manager was there and could see I was visibly upset and she offered to have me redo the full head of highlights and a deep conditioning treatment a week later, and gave me a sample of conditioner for my damaged ends. Fast forward to next week, I show up on time for my appointment and they had me wait almost 30 mins. Since this was my 2nd time there and I was paying a babysitter I told them I was not going to wait and asked for a refund. They told me the manager wasn't there so there was nothing they could do so I proceeded to continue with the complimentary service, a half hour after my scheduled time. I did not get a full head of highlights, they just did the top to fix the roots, and they never gave me the conditioning service they said they were going to do. I just wanted to hurry up and be done so I can get out of there and never return. Such a bummer because I really wanted to like Aveda. Not worth the time, or the money. Mullet to master Mohawk. Have you ever been pampered? I am a man that enjoys comfort and luxury. Fast cars and classy women. Horses and caviar along with the finer things in life. The staff was eager to provide top notch service. I feel that hair stylist typically give you the hair cut they want to give you but here I feel like they wanted my needs met. They asked me specifically what I was looking for then explained what they could do to give me my desired haircut. Much attention was given to the hair cut. After they faded the side of my head with the clippers they gave me a deep tissue scape massage. Next they shampooed and conditioned my hair. That was followed by a warm towel wrapped around my head as they gave me another massage to each arm. I was led back to my seat to continue the cut and my head sill felt a tingly sensation (in a good way). They were then able to complete the hair cut with scissors paying detail to the balance on both sides of my head. Next they styled the hair so that the Mohawk stood tall and proud. Not only was it a solid haircut but they also make you feel welcome and happy. Very pleased with the outcome. Would haircut here again 11/10 read more

The staff bent over backward to make things right and didn't charge me for my makeup as I didn't like it - but buyer beware in general because aveda makeup means natural makeup. If you have an event to go to and want to look like Kimmy K - they don't have fake lashes here. They don't have black liquid liner. I wish I had brought my own makeup. I have been a client of HQ Aveda since they opened. I no longer live in the area, however, I return frequently, and always go to my stylist, JOYLYNN. While all of the stylists are wonderful, friendly, and well educated, I have always been happy with JOYLYNN. I have had consistently excellent service. My hair always turns out exactly how I ask. The shampoo, cut, and style is always completed in a timely manner, as I have very thick, long hair. As a frequent customer, I appreciate the email and phone reminders, as well as surprise discounts. I went and got my hair treated here. I the girls didn't even know what she was doing. She had to ask someone else what to do. When I was getting my hair done my daughter wanted hers done. The guy next to us told her he would have time to do it. Then she changed her mind. Well 5 mins later she was ok with him doing. But then we were informed that he no longer had time to do it. He had another client. Needles to say nobody else was there. But then when we leaving the receptions informed me that he is not he and that she refers to her self as a she and that she didn't feel comfortable about doing my daughter hair. Well I am sorry but 4 year does understand that transgender stuff. And my daughter upset about the whole deal. I will not be going to this salon. read more
