I was nervous about selecting a new doctor, as my previous OB was highly regarded and respected as the head of Ob/Gyn and came with many years of experience. With that said, based on my delivery with Dr. Swords, I would choose Dr. Swords time and time again even over my previous Ob/Gyn who I thought could not be beat. If you have the opportunity to have Dr. Swords as your Ob, take it!

Prenatal care: Visits seemed extremely rushed, like she was always in a hurry, but she was never…read morerude. She was definitely nice, and always asked how I was feeling. She justified everything as normal, but agreed to prescribe me some heartburn medication since none of the OTC things were working, and mine was so bad that I couldn't even lay down without intense burning. She was empathetic when I ended up with a PUPPS rash, and gave me suggestions of things I could do to ease the discomfort. Since I had a scheduled c-section, she gave me several dates to choose from, which was nice. Postnatal care: This is where I have issues. The MFM had me on baby asprin since week 20, and I'm not sure if there was a lack of communication, but I was never informed that I needed to stop taking it prior to surgery. That being said, I ended up with pretty bad postpartum hemorrhaging that could have been easily avoided. I will say, I do like that she made my incision super low so it's not visible even with bikini-style underwear. She also put "everything" back well, so my abdomen looks defined at times because of how she placed everything. The nurses are the reason I skipped my 6 month postpartum checkup. I don't remember their names, but one of them was super rude to me when I called about my postpartum hemorrhaging. I even remember one of them being sassy when I would call in for questions while I was pregnant. It's also alarming that I skipped the appt, and no one ever called to check up. As bad as this sounds, I still haven't gotten checked out, but I plan on finding a different OB/Gyn and getting a very overdue postpartum check. Nurses make a huge difference in how the patient feels about a practice, and I have to dock off a star because of their service.

My complaints are: 1) Dr. Wong is extremely rushed and does not pay attention to detail (she is not rude though). She does not make your visit personal and I am just patient #123. I understand doctors are busy but in that setting I am a customer so I don't care how busy you are. For example, I asked her to check a few things once she walks into the room and she does not remember to check until I remind her again before she walks out. She does not take her time to chat with you and see how you truly are doing (I especially value this because I am a first time mom and I am anxious and nervous about everything.) 2) Office staffs are not friendly but they seem to improve a bit after I sent a complaint to the main office. They are not patient in answering your questions and of course I had to deal with them on wrong billings. 3) Although I have never met Dr. Wong's nurse Rebecca, I already dislike her due to her phone etiquette. She makes you sound dumb and has attitude when talking to you. In summary, if you are looking for a passionate and personal OB/GYN, unfortunately I would not recommend Dr. Wong even though she receives good rating from the majority reviews.

I underwent an endometrial biopsy to assess my eligibility for an endometrial/uterine lining…read moreablation procedure to be performed by Dr. Crowe. Prior to the procedure, Nurse Practitioner (Alexis Edmunds) prescribed a medication to be inserted vaginally the night before and the morning of the biopsy to help dilate my cervix, making it easier for the biopsy catheter to pass through and access the uterine lining. On the day of the appointment, I was asked if the medication had caused cramping or bleeding. When I said it had not, I suspected the medication had not effectively dilated my cervix. Despite this, the staff assured me that everything would proceed as planned. For pain management, I was only advised to take a Tylenol before the appointment. During the procedure, Nurse Practitioner Alexis Edmunds and Nurse Practitioner Lora Setterlund were both present. It was clear that Alexis was inexperienced with this procedure, as Lora had to guide her through each step. Neither the Tylenol nor the cervical dilation medication provided any relief. The experience that followed was one of the most excruciatingly painful moments I have ever endured in a medical setting. The biopsy probe was forced through my insufficiently dilated cervix into my uterus, resulting in unbearable pain. Lora tried to instruct me to "relax" and "breathe," but I was overwhelmed with the pain, struggling not to cry or pass out. Despite my high pain tolerance, I was shocked by the intensity of the pain. When the probe was removed, they discovered they had not collected enough tissue for the sample, necessitating a second attempt. The second biopsy was equally agonizing, leaving me with severe cramping and feeling nauseated to the point of nearly vomiting. I had to remain lying on the examination table for several minutes, focusing on my breathing, before I could sit up and leave the office. Two days later, I checked the patient portal to view the pathology report. To my horror, the results indicated that no intact endometrial tissue had been collected, despite personally seeing chunks of my bodily tissue in the sample container after the procedure. The report stated that the sample consisted of only mucoid material and endocervical tissue and was insufficient for diagnostic evaluation. The fact that I endured such intense suffering for an inexperienced NP to practice on me, only to receive nondiagnostic results, was infuriating. I had paid out of pocket for this biopsy, taken time off work and gone through what felt like a torturous ordeal for absolutely no positive outcome. In addition to this, a part of my cervix has been removed unnecessarily and will have to wait for it to heal before moving forward with a different provider. This experience felt like a complete disregard for my body, my comfort and my concerns. No paracervical block was administered, no alternative cervical dilating medication was offered and no ultrasound device was used to make sure the biopsy catheter was in the correct location to take the endometrial sample. Also, after the first failed attempt, the more experienced NP should have stepped in to perform the second biopsy, instead of letting the first NP practice again. Above all else, basic clinical provider communication protocols were not followed, which could have prevented this entire unfortunate experience from occurring. In many medical specialties this type of conduct would be considered negligence. I will not undergo this process again and will not be pursuing the endometrial ablation with Sweetwater OBGYN.

Anyhow, our son is turning 3 soon and Dr Hernandez was our second choice OB Doc when my wife was pregnant. We wasted our time with our first choice and wished we had found Dr Hernandez sooner. From the staff to Dr Hernandez all were pleasant and warming whenever we visited which was not the case with our first choice. Lesson learned, it's nice to ask for referrals from friends and families but ultimately, your choice based on your own research and thoughts should be your "first choice". Not based on someone elses experience. Dr Hernandez was a great doctor in that she was more about being a true advocate for my wife and not just doing anything and everything my wife wanted. She laid out choices and let us choose but was strong on her recommendations and professional opinion which, in my understanding, was not based on financial gains or such sort. Up until after delivery when my wife had her last visit we can truly say "WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND DOCTOR JAMIE HERNANDEZ!"

The office is beautiful, and the staff is always friendly and professional. My only issue was, I wasn't examined by Dr. Evans. Brittani completed my examination, and although she was great, she wasn't the doctor. I felt really strange having her complete my pelvic examination. I'm sure she's thoroughly trained , however she's not a MD trained in Gynecology. Is this the new normal? Are no longer seeing the OB/GYN but instead seeing the NP. I'm feeling uncomfortable with this! Maybe I'm just old fashioned, but when I make an appointment with the doctor, I expect to actually see the doctor!
