From 2022-2024 I had some of the most unpleasant experiences with not only my previous doctor, but the nurse as well. I was having problems due to heavy bleeding and fibroids and the previous Doctor pretty much made it sound like it was no big deal and was not proactive at all with treatment etc.. between his arrogance and the nurses' completely awful attitude I was thinking of leaving. Fortunately, I decided to stay when he retired & Dr. Spoo took over .. since April 2024, she and her team have been nothing but amazing. At out first appt, she immediately mentioned my fibroids and enlarged uterus and sprung into action before things got really bad (and they were definitely getting to that point) . She recommended follow ups/ultrasounds to continue measuring my enlarged uterus and growing fibroids ,as well ,as checking on the bleeding issues with bloodwork. At one follow-up we discussed options and she explained we could try to remove or shrink them but do to the amount and current size they could possibly come back and do this again .. At the time, I was hesitant and she was understanding with my decision. She said that we need to continue to monitor everything. When I came in due to immense pain and bleeding in September, I was given another ultrasound and Dr Spoo explained that the fibroids had grown a lot since the last visit and that's what was causing my pain and bleeding issues.. By now My uterus had ballooned out to 3x the normal size in a short amount of time (less than 3 months) and she explained that the next option would be a partial laparoscopic hysterectomy . She was very professional and very detailed in her explanations. As nervous as I was to do such a big surgery, I could tell that she knew this was what needed to happen at this point. She was never rude and she never sugarcoated anything. She was just to the point. I wasn't planning on having any more children (already have my 2 wonderful boys) and will be 46 soon so I agreed to do it. That afternoon, I received a call from the nurse to schedule my preop appointment.. And I will NOT blame her for 'not doing anything sooner' I take full responsibility for my decisions.. she came in the day after my surgery, checked on me and made sure I was feeling all right and everything was where it needed to be after the surgery. Bottom line, Dr. Spoo saved my life. She has been the first female doctor I have ever had and having a person who actually understands my body from personal experience has been wonderful. Plus, my surgery was extremely difficult and took an extra hour and a half due to the size of the fibroids/uterus.. AND.. she did all of this while being pregnant herself! Dr. Leibman recently retired, however his practice is still up & running. Dr. Lauren Spoo & Nurse Practitioner Lacee Osteen are available for appointments. This practice is for gynecological & pre/post menopausal care. Located in a 4 story office building, there is plenty of parking & very easy finding the office on the second floor. The front office staff are super friendly & prompt. The office is adorned with underwater photography by Dr. Leibman. The photos are absolutely gorgeous! I have seen both Dr. Spoo & NP Lacee. Love them both. The exams were quick & they made me feel very comfortable. I definitely prefer this practice over the OB/Gyns who cater to pregnant women, no cancelled appointments because a patient went into labor! read more

Let me start by saying that Dr. Leibman himself is really nice, and easy to talk to. I trust his expertise as a medical professional for sure. But.... His staff leaves a whole lot to be desired. I've taken 2 stars because I've had 2 experiences with his staff being rude. There is one nurse that was AMAZING, I think her name is Amy (she's blonde and SUPER sweet). The other 2? Not sure why they even work with patients. (This is based off of my own experience, and opinion). My first visit was a train wreck, so much so that the one nurse called me to apologize about her rude behavior. I wasn't expecting it, and while it was nice, I'm pretty sure it's only because I told Dr. Leibman about it and he probably asked her to call lol. Bottom line, first impression is a lasting one, and I should have followed my gut and left. If it hadn't been for the nicer nurse, I would have. So then, after having my appointment cancelled 30 mins before I was supposed to be there, I dealt with his rude staff yet again. I understand the whole Covid-19 thing...but I'm entitled to be frustrated, especially when it's such short notice and I was already missing work. Either way, I would recommend the Dr. himself, but, keep in mind that there are more than enough options in Houston where you'll be treated with respect and kindness EVERY visit and phone call. This isn't one of those places, unfortunately. So...if a doctor is content with his staff representing his practice in such a way, perhaps it's best to find a better fit. read more

Dr. Maurice Leibman is the best gynecologist in Houston. And if you don't believe me, just check out some of his awards. In fact, he's been awarded the honor of being one of the best doctors in the United States. What I like about Dr. Leibman is that he is friendly, down-to-earth, and takes the time to really talk to you about what's going on inside your body. There's no rushing to prescribe you something so he can move onto someone else . Instead he 'll find out about your lifestyle and in my case, looked at natural options before prescribing drugs. Also love that his state-of-the-art Town & Country clinic is equipped to perform some common procedures right in his office so you don't have to drive around the city to get things done. Long story short: Great doctor, even better nurse I have been seeing Dr. Leibman for 8+ years and he has been a great Gynecologist. He really cares for his patients and takes his time. That said, having a male Gyno isn't always comfortable, but his head nurse (and right hand, really) Deena more than makes up for it. She has been a second mom at times and has been kind, loving, and supportive through many different health difficulties. She is so sweet, and really takes the time to care for her patients. I honestly keep coming here because I know Deena will take care of me, she has taken the time to know me, and she will always treat me like a daughter. Dr. Leibman is absolutely wonderful! A friend referred me to him. She found him after being diagnosed with an STD, had one child with him, and then had him conduct the procedure to no long have children. She talked about how kind, patient, and wonderful he was, so I decided to him him a try. I've found him to be everything she said and more. He really takes his time with each patient to ensure that he answers all of your questions. I've always been a little shy to ask certain questions, but with Dr. Leibman, I feel completely comfortable asking Dr. Leibman ANYTHING because I know he will be non-judgmental, completely honest, and thorough in answering my questions. So why 3 out of 5 stars? I really don't like his nurse. Some people find comfort in her relaxed-style of doing things, but I find it off-putting. I would like to see a lot more professionalism from her. She's very gossipy, always stressed and telling me how "crazy" her day is, and often tells me to call to schedule my next appointment when it is closer to the timeframe I need it vs. scheduling it for me then. But, the one critical moment that sticks out for me is that I called to ask a really sensitive question about a sexual practice. She not only gave me incorrect information, but flat-out told me I should never do it. I mentioned this to Dr. Leibman at my next visit and he said she wasn't correct and that she never should have said anything like that to me. Now I don't feel like I can believe anything she says and that makes it hard to call and get answers. read more

Dr. Leibman is the best Gyno. I have ever went to! I NEVER thought I would feel comfortable going to a male gyno., but Dr. Leibman and his nurse make you feel so comfortable and relaxed. I moved to Houston a little over a year ago and just happened upon Dr. Leibman and I feel extremely lucky to have found him! They always get me in as soon as possible when I make an appointment or have an issue. Dr. Leibman also takes great steps in making you feel comfortable and creating a relationship with his patients. I went to see Dr. Leibman. Experiencing abdominal pressure/pain with right side back pain - could not walk standing straight. End of the appointment he instructed me to take a few pills provided by him and complete back rubs. With me knowing my pains and knowing these pains were not going to go away per his advice..... I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Mangal in Houston, The Woman's Hospital. After listening to me and completing outpatient testing - he scheduled me for outpatient surgery that consisted of 2 procedures. After I completed the background check and reviewed his reviews I decided to do the surgery. The end results is I HAD a severe case of endometriosis! Today, my pains are gone! He took 52 pictures during the surgery to show my husband and I where he found and took away the endometriosis. He also found other issues involving me following up with a Gastroenterologist suggested by him. read more

Dr Leibman is one of the last good old fashioned docs left in the big city, I think. He is not affiliated with a large practice, which alone makes him 5 notches above most, in my view. I found his staff to very competent, knowledgeable and caring, too. I felt like he was actually listening, I did not feel rushed as I do in larger practices. Dr Leibman also is abreast of and will prescribe compound hormone replacement therapy, which most mainstream gynos won't go near. I am very sorry to read the 1 star review he got, it is difficult for me to understand how this is possible in light of my experiences with him.. read more

I am so happy I found this office! Today I went there to get my IUD removed and be replaced for a new one. The process went flawless. The first time I had my mirena inserted was traumatic and extremely painful (different drs office) so I was obviously very anxious to go through that pain again. Before they did the insertion I had somewhat of a breakdown and wanted to back out, Dr. Leibman and Deana were patient, understanding and explained other options. After they calmed me down, I decided to just through with it since the mirena has been good to me thus far. I'm so glad I did. Deana went above and beyond to be sure I was comfortable. They also announced each step so I knew exactly what to expect and that helped me deal with the pain much better. Thank you, Thank you , Tank you Dr. Leibman and Deana for taking the time to LISTEN. After recently being diagnosed with early stage of breast cancer, the Oncologist prescribed anti depressants and hormone inhibitors for me. I began to experience many difficulties with these drugs and soon was not able to operate my car. I mentioned this to Deana when I went in for my bone density testing and she said Dr. Leibman had a test that may answer the questions as to why I am having these problems. The test is a swab test for Genesight - went in, swabbed my checks and one week later the results. Seems my body is unable to metabolize the drugs prescribed. Shared the information with Oncologist and no longer am taking these drugs and feel 100% better - and I can drive again. Yet, my physicians are still wanting to prescribe drugs I am not able to take...WHY? All I can say is, thanks to Dr. Leibman and Deana - we found the root of the problem - they took the time to LISTEN - and believe me - in the last few months - not too many physicians do. It seems it is take the pill, take the cure and be gone..oh and pay the bill.! Seems many are put in the same category - like myself when the same treatment does not work or apply to all. Worst Doctor Ever I went to see this man when I was trying to get pregnant. He had a HORRIBLE beside manner - just plain cocky and full of himself. He sent me for some x-rays and then had his nurse call me to tell me that he couldn't help me and that I should just accept the fact I would never have children. He suggested I get a hysterectomy. A year later I had a beautiful baby boy, and 11 months after that, I had another one with the help of Mary O'Day from Baylor. I would NEVER recommend Leibman to anyone, NEVER EVER. read more

Dr. Leibman is amazing! He delivered my son, Dakota - age 14, and my daughter, Haley - age 5, as well as perform surgery on my daughter, Samantha - age 17. He really takes the time to get to know you and explain everything to where you completely understand what is going on. Although our family has moved from the Houston area, we will continue to drive over 80 miles to his office to receive the outstanding care that he provides. Dr Leibman has been my gynecologist for over 10 years. When I was 40 years old and pregnant with my second child a friend referred me to Dr Leibman. I instantly felt comfortable with him as he gathered my medical history and we discussed the issues associated with a pregnancy at my age. I felt very confident that I was in good hands should any complications arise. As I approached 50 I experienced some common conditions such as heavy periods and a bothersome leaky bladder, and Dr Leibman was able to offer effective solutions. Dr. Leibman is fabulous! I am a new patient and decided to try him due to his outstanding reviews. He answered all of my questions as well as my husband's about conceiving a baby. We never felt rushed and left there feeling satisfied with the information he offered. Dr. Leibman is extremeley thorough and careful. He suggested a few blood test to take prior to conceiving that I didn't even think of-blood type, immunizations etc. When the nurse had trouble finding a vein and me almost passing out, he came in and did it himself. He only does gynecology now so his office is never crowded. He will refer you to an OB-GYN once you become pregnant. His staff is extremely nice and patient and offered hugs when I was having trouble with my blood work. The lady who answered put me on hold, the phone got disconnected from my end, and when I tried to call back, she immediately said "I don't appreciate you calling me over and over just to hang up. I am new to Houston and have a history of breast cancer in my family. I discovered a lump in my breast and was panicked to find a good doctor to help me navigate a medical system in a new city for me. As soon as I called Dr. Leibman's office and explained my concern, the incredibly knowledgeable staff worked me in to see the doctor immediately. During the visit, the office also helped me find a mammogram provider and also managed to get me in that same day. The results did turn out to be cancer. Dr. Leibman and his office continued to support me through the process of finding doctors and called often to check on me. I was a new - not established patient - I was extremely impressed by the level of service but also commitment to patient wellness.
