Oscar was punctual, professional and provided excellent work and a clean work environment. Every day he would explain what was done today what to expect the next day. We were impressed by the company's website's promises of "Integrity, Dependability, and Service. Despite a 6 month delay to get a response, work finally began in December, 2023, with payment split between the start and completion of the project. However, the project was conducted in rainy and humid conditions, raising our concerns about proper application of materials. Oscar assured us that it was fine; but within a month after completion, the paint began peeling off. He did come back once to reapply paint in the first areas that failed. Unfortunately the issue persisted, worsened, grew larger, and further attempts to contact him yielded no response. None. Call and texts went unanswered. Time period: March - December, 2024. An at-home consultation with Sherwin-Williams' manufacturers' rep, revealed the solvent-based stain should never have been applied in moisture conditions. A visit was made, early December of 2024, to the business address listed on the webpage in an effort to discuss the situation. Oscar refused to address our concerns. He refused to talk with my husband. We are disappointed in OR Painting's lack of accountability and professionalism. We caution others against hiring the company for outdoor concrete projects. At this time, it may be nearly impossible to repair the mess he and his crew made, without completely grinding the 1200 sf of concrete. Additional cost, definitely. Most disturbing: being ghosted by someone promising "integrity, dependability, and service."

Jim was willing to tackle what other local well known contractors were either unwilling to consider or bid so high as to be unaffordable. Our project proved to be a technical challenge from the onset, raise the ground floor by almost a foot of concrete, completely rebuild the first floor by installing 3 impact French doors, 3 impact doors and 4 impact windows, cut off support an internal staircase including modifying framing around a dumbwaiter, reframe and replace every exterior wall from 4' down. Plus an added surprise rebuilding and repairing 45' of a heavily spalled concrete tie-beam in less than a week. We're still amazed at how quickly and confidently Jim set about taking on the project, he seemed to have it figured out before we even committed to getting started. He knew just right carpenters and subs to assign the work to. Once they began, they never stopped till the project was completed. Workmanship was outstanding, inspections were a breeze. Covid never slowed them down! I commend Jim for the quality of work and attention to detail, no corners or shortcuts taken, stainless hardware/fasteners throughout and pressure treated lumber. Add them all up and we have a completely new remodeled permitted downstairs ready to withstand the elements. It is without hesitation we'd recommend Jim Rutherford Construction for any project or home construction. Professional, polite and a pleasure to do business with. Given the recent increase in cost of materials, we were more than pleased with Jim's pricing and fairness.
