It's also a 15-minute walk to the base of the peak, if you're looking for a good area to get in a run/hike. Restaurants (Pita Pit, G Brothers, Chile Peppers, etc.) and Albertson's are nearby on Foothill, making this a great place to have an easy BBQ. Next time I'm looking to get a good run in, I'll be back.

Overall, was a bit disappointed with the upgrades they'd done to the dog park. It is fully fenced and has completely separate small vs large dog parks which is good. But for the amount spent, I was expecting there to be a much larger grass areas and generally a bit larger of a park for the large dogs. The grass area in the large dog park is in the middle and the majority of the park is actually bark and small rocks, which isn't great for the pups' paws. There are benches throughout and water stations for the dogs which was good to see. They've added some obstacle courses for dogs to play on, which was fun. However, I strongly disliked that I saw folks come in to bring their kids to the dog areas and obstacles like it was a kids playground (which clearly it is not). Generally, from what I have seen thus far, most dog owners are friendly and self aware of their dogs' behaviors which is always great to see. Nice upgrades overall just was expecting a bit more but that's okay. Still a great place to take a walk and enjoy the lake views or go to the dog park!

I was anticipating my brother coming into town early Saturday, but he arrived a bit later than planned. That actually worked out because my daughter and I were able to check the park out ahead of time. When we returned on Sunday with my nephew, both kids were completely enamored. My brother and sister-in-law were just as impressed--the park is truly amazing. It's not overly crowded, feels very safe, and there's plenty of parking. We brought our own snacks and enjoyed a little picnic, which made the day even better. The weather was beautiful, and we already can't wait to return. This will definitely be our go-to park whenever we have the time. Absolutely love this place.

Several large enclosed slides which are great for hotter days. There's a fun hill you can slide down on cardboard boxes as well as a small zip line. There's a number of benches and tables for adults to sit. Some are in the shade while others are not. There's some beautiful redwood trees on the periphery of the playground to do a nice picnic under. Parking lot is shared with a pool but there's plenty of space as long as there's no baseball game. There's also tennis courts next to the playground. The playground was redone in 2017 but it's held up pretty well. Overall very enjoyable place to bring kids with lots to keep them busy for a few hours of outdoor fun!

This place does not have any swings or monkey bars but to keep a tiny tot entertained it's worth a visit. Some of the neighborhood kids sit around a gazebo with their phones and are well behaved. As you can see in my pictures this place is very very tiny so don't come here thinking you will spend hours, more like an hour tops. Definitely a good spot to have a quick picnic lunch!

Who would know that a park & a trail are "hiding" in plain sight,…read moresmack dab in the virtual middle of the City of AG, & is only feet away from AG's Saturday Farmer's Market? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Coolness factors: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 1) Serene break from the hub-bub above. 2) A Mini-Valley within the valley. 3) A fair number of areas where the stream "Babbles". 4) About 4 wooden picnic tables with BBQs on the stream banks. 5) Heavily forested with tons of greenery. 6) Has a trail from one end (under the Vintage Bridge), under the cool swinging bridge, all the way to under the Mason St. Bridge. 7) It seems to go hand in hand with the "topside" Centennial Park, where AG's Roasters "sing". 8) Few people use it, so it is a peaceful place...(on a Saturday afternoon) 9) Lots of greenery which is hard to capture with pics alone...it is worth a careful walk thru. 10) It is interesting to see the undersides of these very interesting bridges. ~~~~~ Uncool factors (with some suggestions): ~~~~~~~~~~~~ 1) Some, likely kids, have carved or wrote graffiti on some of the trees & have littered. The type of defacing public property & nature is especially horrid in such an upscale neighborhood. Ideas: _______________________ A) Renovate the old Hoosegrow Jail up the hill to accommodate errant kids, or another venue to "scare them straight". B) A longgggggg visit to California Men's Colony, with a hefty fee of lets say $1k+, for the parents would be a very practical idea. The fine could be on a sliding scale. C) Several weekends of "cleaning duty" of the park while wearing neon pink jumpsuits & giving speeches at local schools (along with listing their family's surname) would likely raise public awareness & possibly theirs. D) Use special hidden "wildlife" detection cameras to catch offenders. _______________________ 2) Some hazardous areas of the trail have broken & rotting fences that someone...especially either the younger or older crowd could potentially fall a dozen feet or more. A) The park could use better community support. After all, AG is a high income area, & some of the area schools could sponsor nature hikes along with cleaning duties. The combo of awareness, money, volunteers, peer pressure (including on adults & parents), could help. ______________________ 3) Sadly, there did not seem to be any "life" in the stream (i.e. fish, frogs, etc..), it is unclear whether this is due to seasonal water flow changes, pollution, or other factors. It is hard to makes suggestions in this case. ~~~~~~~~~~ In summary, For both locals & visitors alike, this park is a nice alternative to having an impromptu picnic from Farmer's Market goodies or take-out treats from AG Village shops. One can easily imagine getting a Tri-tip or other sandwich from the AG Butcher Shop, some fresh Veges & Fruits from the FM, & some Cupcakes/ Eclairs from their quaint bakery. Or simply get take out eats from the surrounding restaurants. (There could also be some sort of honors system donation box at the entrance).

NICE LITTLE PARK ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~…read more Nice quiet little park for a lunch on a picnic table or blanket as you overlook the mountains. Lots of snacks can be bought on the next major street ( Madonna Rd. & Los Osos) or at that intersection, which is not far from the 101...and a good pit stop from a long 101 trip....the next pit stop would be at Shell/ Pismo Beach, where you can find better finer dining choices. This park boast a nice picnic table, niece grassy areas, a playground ( for kids who are travel grouchy)...so something for everyone. It is a quiet neighborhood park & you should keep it that way. No loud music, no leaving garbage, & no screaming. Of course you have other choices in the area, like Laguna Lake... but this place is suburban serene. It is likely to make you want to also join this cute, but pricey area. Not in a cult nor Stepford wife way, but what do I know...I don't live there. Homes are really marvelous in this area. A nearby area also has a neighborhood security watch. Some overzealous lady, who was taking a walk, asked me what I was doing? Duh! I was shooting some pics (& not people!)!! I was behind my parked car, with my big DSLR pointed at the mountains & not near anyones house. She was at first rather clueless, paranoid, & first annoying, but as we talked (& since I was a local), she chilled & was cool. She claimed that there were a few car break ins in the area & I concurred that there was one near my place too. If you want some snacks, a short drive away ( at the next big intersection & mini- mall (you have fast food ( Burger King, Pizza), Chinese/ Pho, Mexican, Italian, Sushi, 99 cents store, & other services, such as a CVS, Shell Gas/Car wash, Florist, Grocery). Further down either Los Osos or Madonna, you have a "Mecca" of where the locals & some tourists go. Down Madonna there is a Best Western, Madonna Inn/ Restaurant, Chinese Food, Denny's They are opposite the Biggest Mall in the area, complete with Starbucks, Ralph's, Sears, Chicken Wings, Chipotle, etc. Down Los Osos you have Whole Foods, Costco, Home Depot, Target, BevMo, & more. Between the two roads, which are both right off the 101, you have many choices that you will not find until you get to Santa Maria. This is a much better & safer area. Tons of free parking? Yes. Can you serve alcohol? Yes but it's a hefty permit fee. Bummer. Beyond that this is a very cool park to host an event. We attended an event here that was catered by Far Western Tavern. The catering company did not miss a beat. They seemed familiar with the set up & "cooked" (likely finished cooking" the meat over the open flame. There was a long table available for placing additional accoutrements such as appetizers, plates, beverages & dessert. It is a "Park" at the end of the day but definitely a pretty cool one great for an open air event
