You have to get a mix, I got 2 each of blue cheese, spinach, Gorgonzola, and mushroom and leek. They cost 9 euros. They gave me some olives, which were made grandmother's way. Very nice recipe!

The inside is small with half a dozen seats at the bar and five tables. Two bartenders running the place. Menu is up on the wall, no English menu available. Seven types of vermouth along with beer and wine options. - Bread and olives - complimentary. Olives were decent, bread dry. - Lacuesta reserva (3,70€) - dry style vermut from Riośa. Smooth, didn't find it particularly dry. - Vermuza con lupolo (4,00€) - sweet style vermut with hops from Huesca. Slightly sweet, well balanced. - 1/2 Croquetas (8,00€ for 6) - bonito, huevo cocido (tuna and boiled egg), morcilla con membrillo (black pudding), setas con puerro (mushrooms with leeks), jamon (ham), espinacas, pasas y gorgonzola (spinach, raisin and gorgonzola) and queso azul (blue cheese). Favourite was the bonito. Croquetas were perfectly fried. - 1/2 Papas con mojo picón (3,50€) - boiled potatoes with salsa verde and salsa roja. Half portion was a perfect size. Sauces were tasty, potatoes cooked just right. An enjoyable, cheap tapas meal at CJ.

Just a reminder that portions are small since these are tapas! We ordered three for two people -- tostón hawaiano, velas d'arrós negre and bombitas de camarón. We also ordered two bottles of water and two glasses of wine (I got the rosado-sospechoso '15 cuenca). The tostón hawaiano was my favorite tapa, and the bombitas de camarón was pretty good as well. I was not a fan of velas d'arrós negre--it literally tasted like styrofoam. The wine was good though!

This is a tough feat if you live in Amsterdam (where we do) but luckily in Madrid people dine late and on Sundays :) We did a quick search on yelp and found La Cajita de Nori in walking distance from where we were staying and with good reviews. They did not disappoint! Service was quick and friendly. We ordered a small tortilla, which was light, fluffy and fresh. One of the best I've ever had. We had one of their specials, a marinated eggplant salad with wonderful feta cheese. I don't know what they did but the eggplant was so tasty. Delicious. We also had a rice/egg dish. A portion of right with two fried eggs with deliciously runny yolks plus a delicious pepper/tomato topping. The topping was fresh and so tasty. This is really Spanish comfort food. On the menu are also a nice selection of options with beef and pork, etc. We had two glasses of wine. For dessert we opted for the tart queso, which is like a super dense, rich cheese cake with this thick syrup. It was rich and amazing...you need to share with two people, it would have been too much otherwise. The decor is cute and funky, colorful and fun. The music was fun with Jimi Hendrix to some others. We were the only people dining at the time, so I wish it was more busy when we were there. But this was a great way to start our Spanish adventure. Two people, 2 glasses of wine, three dishes and dessert: €33 Rico!
