First off- I rarely write bad reviews because I think they're usually just grumpy people being…read moregrumpy. However the ratings on this office were very misleading so I felt compelled to get real. PROS: I will say that this office got me into an appointment relatively quickly. The staff was friendly and I didn't have to sit in the waiting room for very long at all. CONS: There were a few things that really troubled me at this office. You're greeted with a sign on the wall that says they charge $10 (cash only) if you need blood drawn. That seemed weird to me, partially since they take credit cards for everything else. But I know that if you have blood drawn at a lab they charge a copay, so I shrugged it off. I also had to sign a bunch of paperwork informing me that "due to rising costs," his office would charge as much as $100 to have the doctor sign paperwork for things ranging from handicap placards to doctor notes pertaining to legal proceedings. I have never heard of charging $$ for a doctor's note, and thought the prices were extremely high for something most doctors do for free. I had gone into my appointment with debilitating chest pain which I'd had for 2 weeks, and I had been to an Urgent Care facility and to the ER for it. There, they did EKGs and X-rays but were unable to determine what was wrong without further testing. Some background: I had a tumor in 2009, which was partially removed but there is still some (benign) tissue in my mediastinal (chest) cavity. My surgeon recommended that I have CT scans regularly to monitor the leftover tissue. I brought my medical record to my appointment, as well as the paperwork from my recent Urgent Care and ER visits. Dr. Nash had zero interest in looking through my paperwork. I told him about my tumor, but he immediately brushed it off and said that he was sure that I just tweaked something at the gym. Then he asked me whether I was up-to-date on my gynecologist exams. Wait, what? It was my first appointment with him, but that hardly seemed relevant to my chest pain that I was so obviously concerned about. He kept reiterating that he needed to know that I had been going to the OBGyn regularly, and that I needed to have my medical records transferred over to prove this. I understand needing those records, but it was especially strange since I had all of my records in-hand, and he wouldn't look at them. I had hoped to have him refer me for a CT Scan so that I could (A) Keep my scans up to date and (B) See if the pain was related to my tumor. I mentioned this to Dr. Nash and he said that he wasn't sure my insurance would approve a CT Scan, despite the fact that I have a pre-existing condition, a doctor recommendation, am having chest pain, and have been getting scans for the past 5 years. His instructions were to have his office request my records so that he could determine if we would be able to move forward with my scan. Honestly- if my insurance won't cover me to get scans to check up on a tumor in my chest- I would be horrified. Not to mention that I have been doing this for years and never had a problem getting approval. Dr. Nash recommended that I just keep taking 1200 mg of Ibuprofen every day until the pain went away. After my appointment, I filled out a medical records request form and submitted it to his receptionist. She thanked me and sent me on my way, and I got out to the parking lot before I returned and asked "Uh... don't you need my copay??" So I paid and left. Three weeks later, I called to check on the status of my medical records request and was told that they would call me in ten minutes. Literally an hour after sitting by my phone, I called back again and was told that they could not find the paperwork that I handed his receptionist, and that I would need to resubmit the request. I have been taking Ibuprofen for 3 weeks and finally just changed my PCP because I'm not willing to keep taking medicine to mask symptoms that could be a HUGE deal, rather than my having my doctor investigate the root cause.

After at least two years of chronic back pain and seen at least couple of orthopedic doctors…read more(pretty well known) I went to doctor Rutledge. He had me walk few steps back and forth and said that he thought my right leg is a bit shorter. I went and got an X-ray done where they measure your legs and he was right my leg was shorter. For that I had to buy some inserts for my shoe and felt much more balanced. I had an ankle surgery due to three broken bones 15 years earlier where they planted two plates and at least 10 screws I was told and that caused my leg to be shorter. Ultimately it caused my spine to develop a slight scoliosis which effected my vertebrae to be misaligned and cause pain. I'm currently on prolotherapy and Osteopathic manipulative treatment, also doing some exercise at home and no longer taking pain killers. Dr Rutledge has made my life so much better. He is a very talented doctor and a great human being. Always kind and very reasonable. I highly recommend him.

I would highly recommend him.

My first visit with him was on the phone and when I hung up I had a feeling I might have finally found my doctor. Have seen him in the office a few times since and I was right, I did find my doctor. No one has a better bedside manner than he does! He has proven consistently that he has my back 100%. Although he's had to give me news that I didn't want to hear at times, he's also helped me turn the negative things around. He has an uncanny way of getting me to do things that other doctors couldn't. He's encouraging, caring and empathetic. He understands that ultimately it's the patient's decision to decide what works for them. His response time is unheard of. I sent him a request for a referral this afternoon and a couple of hours later, he had not only processed the request, but I received the approval. His communication skills are outstanding! He is so down to earth, friendly and easy to talk to. He's patient and takes the time to explain what I don't understand and answer all my questions. I have OCD and am on the Spectrum, so I'm very intuitive and see people's true intentions, character and personality. Dr. Castillo is genuine. He's the real thing, and anyone who is lucky enough to be his patient should be mighty thankful. I know I am. I hope Memorial Care understands what a gem they have!
