Since I was a first timer, I had no idea what to expect but Dr Imani's professional, easy going personality made me feel completely at ease. I live in midtown and traveled all the way to Chamblee to support this business and have been sorely disappointed! First of all as a person that believes wholeheartedly in the benefits of holistic health especially for me colonics (once a week). Visiting Nile was not my first experience. I was so very disappointed in the OLD\Dated equipment also the lack of attention from the staff and lets not talk about the heating pads that did not have a cover so whomever used it before's DNA was all over it. Second- this is the only place that I have visited that required a payment to secure an appointment- very tacky! Overall there are much better places to relax, unwind and have a colon cleanse, most offer complimentary aromatherapy as well as an electrolyte drink to replenish following the cleaning. I do home enemas, not excessively but when needed (listen to your body). However, I have been feeling a need to let some "ish" go for awhile that I've been holding on to internally. I came across an ad in a local newspaper and thought that the price was too good to be true! I made an appt immediately (which was SUPER easy & convenient, used the texting system). The location was surprising because the office is in an industrial area. Once inside, I was immediately comforted. The office is actually in a different building than the other reviews experienced but from what they describe, the mood is the same. I felt very comfortable as soon as I entered. Everything appeals to the senses which is important for a procedure like this. I have never experienced the new system until now and it was really comfortable and relaxing. I felt like I had more control of things and there was no embarrassment utilizing this system (for me, pap smears are worse!). The Dr is very professional, courteous, witty, positive, encouraging, knowledgable and intelligent. I was comfortable talking to him from the moment I walked in to the moment I left. I highly recommend this center for all. One suggestion, if you are a 1st timer and mentally have trouble with the idea of a tube of warm water running up your butt, try imagining what your colon looks like from years of unprocessed/undigested/decaying food stuck inside of you. Imagine that the big bulge that you carry in front of you is that (if you have one). Imagine the damage that that trapped stuff is causing you (toxins released, etc.). PHENOMENAL! I just experienced the best colonic service ever. I've had colonics since 1996 on a sparodic aspect, however, it the past few years I have increased my visits to 2-4 times annually. My husband and I went to Nile Wellness for our first Colonics. The experience was enlightening and lightening. Dr. Imani was great. He explained the procedure: what we needed to do and what to expect. With the Colonez machine, there was no pain, no smell, and you don't really see anything. I was overall happy with my visit and would definitely go again. As for the location: the office from the outside leaves something to be desired but inside, the rooms are cozy, low lit and warm with soft music and candles. I was very excited about my colonic. I just knew it was going to be a great experience from all the positive feedback I had recieved from his clients. I was a little nervous, but that's just because I had never had a colonic done. He had sent me a text with his new location and told me to call him if I had any questions. I went on a friday, and arrived 30 mins early. Dr. Rasheed welcomed me with a professional manner and escorted me into the waiting room. The office is very clean and nicely set up. I really enjoyed the natural/african theme in the office. I was comforted by how clean his office was.A clean establishment is a sign that the business owner takes pride in his profession. I filled out the paper work and Dr. Rasheed showed me to my room a few minutes later. He explained the entire procedure very clearly, and told me to ring the bell when I was ready. The room was very clean and everything was ready for to use. The lube, the napkins, and the paper towels were laying on th table. He even had a nice smelling scented candle burning. The room and colonic machine was very clean. I must say that I was very impressed by that! I was very excited and couldn't wait to get my colonic. I followed his instructions, but he failed to tell me that placing the tub in your rectum is not that simple. I struggled for over TEN MINUTES TO GET IT TO STAY INSIDE OF ME. After a reasonable amount of time he knocked at my door. Feeling ashamed that I couldn't keep a short tube in my rectum ,I asked him to wait by the door so that I could put back on my pants. Feeling deafeated and red in the face I opened to door and Dr. Rasheed had gone back to the front lobby.This is when his NICE/NASTY SIDE CAME OUT. I informed him that I COULD NOT GET IT IN AND IF THERE WAS ANOTHER WAY TO INSERT IT. A friend of mine saw this place on TV one morning and decided he wanted to give them a try. I said that I would surprise him schedule the appointment and pay for the entire service, so I texted the number that was provided on the site for scheduling. After texting back and forth with the (head doctor) and him later giving me a call I declined their services. The doctor was VERY rude and unprofessional, I have never in my life experienced such. I figure if you go to school and pay thay much money for licensing they should have given him some type of interpersonal relations class. I visited Nile for my first colonic recently. My experience wasn't bad, but I definitely wasn't blown away. While the office was quaint and somewhat cozy, I hoped for a much more tranquil, serene environment for something so personal. Dr. Imani was definitely personable and nice, but seemed rushed when explaining the procedure and what to expect in the days following it, and didn't seem all that knowledgeable about 1st time experiences and how they may be different than seasoned visitors. The process was very uncomfortable to me - I couldn't see or smell anything, but I could definitely feel it....I didnt like that machine and I definitely experienced strong cramping, nausea, and chills - but I think that's more so because it was my first time and I really needed it! I appreciated the level of provacy and am not sure I would like the closed system and having someone in there with me for the entire process...eek. Dr. Imani was helpful as I had to buzz him into the room a few times to make sure what I was experiencing was "normal." Since then I've felt much lighter (I lost 5 POUNDS!) and have a clearer mind. All in all, an okay facility and staff but I would choose another place, especially for a first time. Not quite the tranquil experience I was looking for.
