brought my first Pekingese to Nikki many years ago. No one else could handle her but Nikki could. Took my second Peke to Nikki for 11.5 yrs also. she was also somewhat difficult but Nikki was great with her. i now have a 15 mo old Cavapoo & Nikki does a great teddy bear cut on her. By far the best groomer in this area. They are courteous, professional and bent over backwards to help us out when we needed a grooming for our dog before a trip. I cannot express enough gratitude for what they did today, and the kindness and compassion they showed us. And, they handle my senior dog with care and love. They deserve 100 stars. *BEWARE OF SERVICES* If I could do less than a 1 star I would. I called for a potential quote for my exotic Merle English Bulldog; a male adolescent, who is very kind and and is VERY well taken care of. My dog gets baths biweekly; and I take him to the groomer 4x a year. So, I moved here recently and was looking for a "local" groomer, when one of my friends told me to avoid this place but I didn't listen. So, I went ahead and called to ask a few questions against my intuition; I asked if they do any type of facial services for my little guys folds, and made sure to inquire that they do indeed clean "all parts" of the dog; as he has been cleaned by much higher end salons in Cambridge and Atlanta and some had strict regulations regarding "do not clean "private parts" of unfixed males". I also think it's extremely important to be able to convey your needs as a customer and be provided a space where you can speak about more sensitive areas on the dog for them to be aware of (ears, etc for example). Due to the English Bulldog physical build they cannot clean themselves, so this is important to me as a dog owner that his SPECIFIC BREED needs are meet (because this is a need of all English Bulldogs and an experienced groomer would know this). Instead, the woman told me that the topic of "gentials" made her uncomfortable (how unprofessional), when I simply asked her "what they clean". She also never answered me if her salon cleans "all parts and areas" of the dogs. Sure, a place can put shampoo on your dogs back, but I want to make sure my dogs belly, etc gets cleaned; no matter the expense. She however, with a very nasty dismissive attitude spoke over me, and was very argumentative with me (and I am just someone who is calling asking about the details of a bath; can you imagine if I had an issue with post services, I would have been cursed out). I was then HUNG UP ON, while I sat outside with my dog in the car. She than insinuated that my dog needed "veterinary care" if he needs his entire body cleaned! I cannot understand where she is coming from! How do you speak to someone like that who is calling to ask about services rendered!? She also said she doesn't do the cleaning and she "assumed" that the entire body got cleaned. I mean, how appalling! You don't even know what you're groomer is doing with these dogs? And to top it off, you are not even aware of breed specific needs!? How very disappointing; and what a poor representation of the level of class local residence maintain. In the nation's climate such as this, the last thing I am going to do or endorse is supporting a local Buisness that handles themselves and their community members in such a way. I will make sure to never give this place my money and continue posting my experience so other can be aware of the potential danger that is this locations unknowledgeable services. I am sure the response to follow will properly represent the level of unprofessionalism of this location and management. read more

Have been using Nicki's for years now with all my dogs past and present. Maryann & Lara are the best in the business. The shop is clean and runs very organized. They always can accommodate me in a pinch. I was pet sitting for Natasha and they took her in as well as my Bella & Blue. All of which are Maltipoos and they groom them all beautifully! I drive up from Peeskill to frequent their shop and it's definitely worth the ride! Highly recommend. read more

I have been taking my Japanese Chin , Hendrix to Nikki's pet salon since she opened... We were customers of hers when she was working at another groomers.. Hendrix is shy and was a rescue puppy.. He needs extra TLC and he gets it at Nikki's.. I have taken him to many groomers before finding her.. She and her staff are friendly and the shop is immaculate.. He comes back perfect every time.. I was very pleased with Nikki's. I called to make an appointment for our new mini poodle puppy and got an appointment for the same day. The shop is clean as a whistle. Nikki did a fabulous job with a 13 week old puppy. Not only does he look adorable, but he didn't seem phased by his 1st grooming! I called today to make an appointment for two nail trims and was told an appointment wasn't necessary and to just come in. So I got both dogs in the car and drove over, about a 35 minute drive. I got in and my dogs were ready to go back when I noticed a sign on the desk that was half covered but the bottom read "checks only." I asked if they accepted credit/debit cards and was told no - only cash or check. And they didn't have an ATM. They told me where a bunch of local ATMs were but it was raining, and I had two dogs with me, AND I didn't feel like I should have to pay an ATM fee on top of the nail trims which were a whopping 50% more than I usually pay at other places. I left, without my dogs getting their nails trimmed, and drove 35 minutes back home, in the pouring rain. My dogs and I are soaked, I've wasted my day, and have nothing to show for it. If you don't accept credit/debit, that's fine, but how could you not tell people A) when they call ahead of time and B) when you get there and they're about to perform a service for you?? I think the majority of people do not walk around with cash or checkbooks in this day and age and it's a very poor practice to not mention this ahead of time. Ive used most groomers in the greater Putnam area and Nikki's is by far the BEST groomer. Her shop is clean and her staff is professional, kind, and they take their job seriously. My large labradoodle comes back to us within a few hours clean with an even cut, exactly as we specified. You can tell they have experience. I went to several grooming salon for my dog's nail cutting, and only Nikki's pet salon could cut his nails properly without bleeding and screaming. My dog's nails are black and hard to find the line to cut and he hates nail cutting, but they treated him nicely and have done the job quickly. Thanks Nikki's, you're the best groomer! read more
