This place is somewhat under the radar for most in Lexington, but if you have a need for…read moresoccer-related clothing or equipment, you need to know about it. We needed (ok, wanted) a Real Madrid kit for our son, who is a fan of C. Ronaldo. The big chain sporting good stores had nothing. The local shops also had nothing, or so I thought until I found M & D. It sits in a small strip mall not far from El Gran Tako off Alexandria, and I might miss it if I weren't looking. They have an entire half of the store with nothing but soccer: shoes, jerseys, socks, guards. They carry some Nike but also Pirma, a nice-looking Mexican brand. The sizes vary from adult to young child. We selected from the 3-4 Madrid shirts, and Sylvia was able to add lettering and numbers on the back on the spot. My son left there thrilled!

Theses days, of course, it's central Kentucky's premier outdoor clothes, shoes/boots, and equipment. A few weeks ago we shopped to buy our four year old granddaughter some cleats, shin guards and a…read moresoccer ball. She's playing at the Y for the first time. Grant was the young man who came to help us. He was so kind and patient with us. We had to try several sizes of shoes because she has a condition that makes one foot slightly bigger than the other. Grant talked not only to her mother and myself, but he talked to her. Then he went in the back room to get a small ball and he let her kick a few goals with him. I stopped and asked for a manager, Chad and told him how absolutely kind and awesome Grant was. The main reason we shopped at Dicks was because of their stance on women's rights. The fact that this company is willing to stand behind their female employees means that when our grandchildren need anything sporting wise, they will be the company to get our money. And speaking of money, those three things cost us just $69. Thank you Grant and Chad for your kindness and willingness to go that extra mile to make my Sophia happy!
