I have been a fan of Spooky World since it first opened 20 years ago in Berlin Ma! Since then is has seen several owners and locations, some were good, some not so good. It's newest location in Litchfield NH is perfect, right in the woods along the Merrimack Valley River. Its creepy to begin with! There is something about a cool October night in New England that can not be felt anywhere else in the world.
When you first arrive you have to walk through a carnival style midway with vendors, carnival games, bands and food. While you are making your way to the entrance of the first haunt you will be greeted by some pretty creepy creatures roaming the midway, interacting with the guests as they walk through and while you wait in line. These creatures are all professional actors, and know how to scare you and entertain you at the same time. Some of the characters have been with the park since the early Berlin days, and continue to terrorize the visitors year after year, like Lobo, the masked serial killer (look him up on youtube to see who he is). Once you survive the midway, its time to check out the haunted attractions.
There are 6 different haunted houses to walk through, each has its own theme, and they are all pretty long. They are all detailed like movie sets, not only the walls, but they incorporate the floors and ceilings as well. You are forced to face many different fears as you tour the haunts, from spiders and insects to clowns and crazy inbred hillbillies, there are things here that will scare everyone. All of your senses will be taunted as you journey through the halls and passages of the attractions at Spooky World, you will not only walk through the scenes, but you will be be part of them. They will play with all of your senses, sight, sound, smell, taste (dont forget to try the turkey legs, they are awesome!) and touch (no they do not touch you, but you will have to touch things in order to get through, lots of things).
The newest version of Spooky World at Nightmare New England in Litchfield NH had got to be my favorite so far, ever since it has been owned by Mel's Funway Park, it has gotten better and better each year. It is clear that they are constantly looking for new ways to make the experience better year after year, and they put
I highly recommend getting the VIP passes, they save you time waiting in line, and allow you to see more during your visit, because you can visit the attractions multiple times in one night if desired. This year Spooky World is also introducing a new attraction located at Fenway Park in Boston. It is called the Fear at Fenway. Be sure to check it out as well!
