This place is more expensive than others nearby and it is so lame! It was a waste of time and money. Cheap layout, cheap decorations(a lot of robotic or mechanical things), poor costumes, not many people working the attractions either. I will not return here. - Very disappointed. Save your money and drive a bit farther north for a better time. They say they take the last people in at 10 and they will make sure you see all of the attractions. Not entirely true. Great concept, but no here has the managerial skills to run this place. There were hundreds of people in line, but there were only 2 people selling tickets. Unreal. We complained about the lag time but 2 other ladies just standing around doing nothing said "oh, we're used to it!" And I said "We're not." They're clearly inept throughout this entire facility. At the paintball zombie line up, there's no one there so you don't know if you're in the right spot, or if they're doing the hunt or what! When you get on, here's their announcement: "Don't shoot guns across the other guns or they'll break. Everyone sit down while the tractor is moving. If you need more paint balls we sell them." In our group of 8, we had no idea how many paint balls or how long the ride was to manage our usage. Only when we were done did we find out there were 5 scenes with 100 paint balls to use. On top of that, most guns didn't illuminate the balls so you can't tell if you're shooting and if you are, you can't tell where you're hitting. I've been to this park last year for the haunted house and hayride, so I knew what to expect. This years experience was worse then the last. We bought our tickets online for the 7pm zombie hunt. Picturing "zombies " walking through a field that you would be able to shoot. When you get to the entrance, there is no hint that there should be more than one line. After waiting for 15 min, a girl separated the line into 3. The people who bought the tickets online were still waiting a good 10 min after the people who had not bought their tickets were allowed to do so and entered the park. When asked what the hold up was, our line finally was allowed in an hour after our 7pm ticket time. There was no signage instructing where the line for the hunt was. Once we found that, we waited another 30min waiting. One trailer was cleaned, guns reloaded, then left with out any passengers. Another trailer arrived,was cleaned, guns reloaded, and the attendant miscounted the available seats for our group. so we waited for yet another trailer, another 15 min. There was no spiel about how long the ride was, or how the ride went. Not knowing anything, I conserved my paint balls, not wanting to use them up by the first half of the ride. There was 3-4 stations that I remember that was mostly cars and chintzy Halloween decorations. The "zombies " were few and far between, most ducking behind trees or int cars after 2-3 seconds. A few staying behind items completely. I understand getting sick of being shot at repeatedly, but they did sign up and are being paid for this. If they had more people, or if the event was set up differently, people would not be over shot. There was also an issue worth the guns. The paint balls were not lighting up, so you couldn't see where you were shooting. Suddenly, the o2 line that was connected to each gun was shut off. I figured that they were conserving it until another section down the trail. I thought that since most of us still had half our paintballs, there was no way this was done. It was. Apparently only some knew the ride was coming to an end when someone asked to buy more balls and was told "Don't bother, we're almost done". No announcement at all. The ride itself was less then 15 min. Glad we spent all that money to stand in line. A few of us were joking that we should go out there with our own paintball guns and shoot at the zombies whenever a trailer full of people arrive, get our money's worth. I had low expectations before attending the Hallow Scream Park. So long as you have low expectations, you will not be disappointed. (You will still be unimpressed, however.) We had 8 o'clock tickets for the new "Zombie Hunt", however it was 45 minutes before the trailer started moving, with absolutely no communication. This was extremely unprofessional. On top of that, a friend's paintball gun didn't even work. Once we got moving we were shuttled to a nearby dirt road, where we were invited to pelt high schoolers/homeless men/ne'er-do-wells by glow-in-the-dark paintballs. This was very conflicting for me. Here I was, waiting 45 minutes to perform the zombie hunt, however I had to shoot completely indefensible actual humans. I refrained from shooting them, opting instead to fire blindly towards Runnin' Aces. It was a very weird and surreal experience, but not worth the price tag. The hayride and haunted house were OK. All told, this was not worth the $35 asking price. The staff really needs some additional organizational skills. More communication would be great. If you've ever wanted to hunt humans for sport, I recommend going to the Zombie Hunt, as I do not expect this to return next year. read more

It wouldn't piss me off so much if they didn't charge so much and advertised what it was "Spooky fun for the whole family" and not this "Scariest Halloween Atrraction!" This place is NOT a fun time for a group of adults. It's just lame and sparse and not scary. I also have a problem with all of their FAKE reviews. I'm 100% convinced they have their employees and friends all write reviews because they are all single review accounts, they all say the same exact thing and the score should just not logically be as high as it is on Google reviews. What's also shady is that they changed their Facebook page category so nobody can review it anymore. I felt completely ripped off coming here. I've gone to just about every haunt in the Twin Cities and this comes rock bottom on my list. The line to get in is disorganized, the hayride was just darkness with little shacks...not much to see, and the "haunted house" was a quick 2 minutes through a horse stable with nothing in it and maybe 3 actors. The common area was decorated like someone's front yard and most of the decorations weren't even turned on. If you are in this area, I would recommend The Dead End Hayride just a short drive away but honestly ANY haunt is better than this one and I mean ANY. If there was an option to give this place zero stars I would. The haunted house was okay, but the hayride and zombie hunt were not worth the money. And we went on the first weekend and by 8:30 they were out of apple cider and hot chocolate. The hours are 7-11pm! We also had issues with ordering the tickets online. This is a great haunted hayride if you have young children who scare easily and can't handle an intense haunted hayride. There are lots of props and decorations on the hayride, so there's plenty to see. But it's a hayride, it's hard to make them scary, and there's not much that is clever or innovative about how they attempt to scare you during the hayride. The haunted house has some good characters/actors in it, and there are a few good scares in it, but it's not enough to make it a memorable experience. If I could give this attraction 1.5 stars, I would, but I can't do 1/2 stars, so I have to give it a 1. 2013 UPDATE: I was revisiting all of my reviews and I noticed that all 12 of the "filtered" reviews for NHSP are from people who have only done 1 or 2 reviews on Yelp. Yet they all gave 'em 5 stars, with the exception of one four-star review. And notice the dates they were posted, many came in the same 7-10 day period in 2012. Good times. Second year in a row. The hayride is super fun and really long. Longest in the Twin Cities. This place is scary but not too scary that you cant bring kids. STUPID WILL NEVER GO AGAIN! Paid $66 to stand in line for 2hrs for zombie hunt. Now remind you I paid for zombie hunt and haunted house. Never got to do the haunted house had to work at 11pm was done with the zombie hunt at 10pm finally. Now remind you again, the zombie hunt only lasted about 20 mins long and we were there 645pm. Two fricken hours in line. Will never spend a another fricken penny there ever again!!! OOH guess this it was my first time there ever!!!!! And we chose to have dinner at the restaurant in running aces at 530pm well that sucked too, my chicken looked fake and was cold on my ceaser salad. GROSS!!!!! read more

Save your money! Not worth the wait. We stood in line for about twenty minutes only to find out when we get to the door that if you bought your ticket on the Internet you could go in and get your stamp and sign the waiver. They should have some roaming the long line making that announcement. Then we get in and go to the zombie hunt line! Unreal!!!! We were in line for over two hours waiting for our turn. They had three wagons going but the VIP line gets the wagons first. For an event like this you should only have one price level. Very unfair to everyone that waited in the cold for their turn. Many people were tired of waiting and went back to pay the up charge for the VIP ticket just so they could get their turn then go enjoy the other events. The zombie hunt was lame. A few people in suits and helmets standing by some cars. It would have been better if they were trying to get the wagon or something. Standing by a car and waving your hands is not a zombie. After the short ride we went to the haunted house. Again there is a very long line and we gave up and left. It was already 10:30. So we paid for zombie hunt and haunted house - a total of $35 and started this night at 7 pm. Not worth the $35 or the 3 1/2 hours. read more

Was I frightened? Only by their incompetence. This place was absolutely terrible. They're expensive, cheesy, not scary or even fun, and wait until I get to the Zombie Hunt. Lets start with the good: The fire-dancer was ok. They were clearly in training, but anything with fire is cool. They had some good wandering costumed workers, like Freddie and stilt walkers that were kind of cool, though the makeup on some was lazy (paint on face, not on neck...etc) Now, for the rest. They cost $35, They force you to go to everything in a specific order, apparently because they don't want you to "miss" anything, as if you can miss any of the 3 things they have. Because of this, especially if you go close to opening, you're standing in a TON of lines because they make everyone go to the same thing at once. We spent a total of 3 hours in lines, for about 30 minutes of total events. The haunted house is terrible, its disjointed and lazy, and the people they hire to act in it aren't very good, they all believe that all they have to do to scare you is come up behind you and yell. That happens every...single...time. After the first 10 times, its not even surprising. There's also no ambiance. They had Michael jackson's thriller playing outside, almost like they picked "halloween music" on Pandora, and NO music on any other the other events, so there was no ambiance at all. The hayride had SO many missed opportunities, they clearly spent a lot of money, with zero thought into how it all fits together or how it looks. Apparently, they think fake pumpkins are the SCARIEST THINGS ON EARTH, because I have never seen so many fake pumpkins in my life. They must have raided every Walmart in town to get all of these. They have you riding behind an old tractor, so you're choking on tractor fumes the entire time. The "scenes" for the hayride were so...SO bad, basically painted particle board, and you can see the actors standing behind these "houses" waiting to burst out at you yelling (again). One of there "scenes" was an IRS Collector"being crucified... hicks. Finally, there's no music or sounds here either, it just felt...boring. Finally, the most HORRIBLE part of this awful experience, the Zombie Paintball Hunt. Where do I start. We waited in line for an hour and a half, in the freezing cold (again, because they told everyone to do things in order). At first we noticed a lot of angry people getting of the trailers, then we noticed that instead of picking up new people, the trucks were driving away (apparently to go fix something) and then they'd come back and pick up more people, and then 10 minutes later drop off more angry people. By the time they got to us, they were running only 1 truck, at half capacity. Me and my group boarded the trailer, and we set off. First, there was a woman (employee) SMOKING, hacking and yacking loudly behind us about her weekend plans, who was supposed to help us if anything went wrong with our guns, but all she did was hit the gun when it wasn't working. There were 3 "scenes" we drove through, and in all of them there was 1..maybe 2 "zombies" (they were too far away to see). In between every scene the attendants were yelling at the actors to "come out more next time"...right. And worse, some of our guns STILL weren't working. You shot once, then the gun would jam, and loud lady would come up behind you and hit it for a bit, and once she got it working you were off to the next scene. We complained about this to the front desk, asking for a refund since it was really the only reason we came here, but their response to us, and the dozens of other angry people who stood in line for nothing was "We don't provide refunds" They would only allow us to go again (including standing in line again!) They said "This is only our second year, so live and learn" The only thing we learned is to never go back. Save your money, and go to Buck Hill. That may not be scary, but at least its fun. Nightmare Organizers, some advice: *Don't hire friends or kids to organize or act. They're not good. You can have them walking around or sell tickets, but they don't belong in your showpieces. There are plenty of out of work actors to hire. *Hire someone who knows what they're doing to organize logistics, then hire a DIFFERENT person (preferably someone with a theater background) to layout designs, plan themes, and coach actors. The type of person who is good at planning administrative details is not usually good at being creative, I'm just guessing, but it feels like there's just one guy doing all this. *Have a theme, or 3 separate themes for your events. It looks like you raided a halloween store. *Everyone should be in costume and in character, ALL THE TIME. I went there last year for the zombie hunt - with paintball guns - THEE WORST experience I EVER HAD!!! Sat in line for almost 2 1/2 HOURS. They have a VIP line (pay extra money and you jump the line) that I would say would be worth it since everyone in that line gets a head of people in the regular line w/o a single wait. Just watch out for the people in the regular line, since they have been waiting for so long, they get crabby. NOT a good set up at ALL!!! The actual ride was a WASTE OF TIME!! It MAYBE took 10 minutes. It's the ride there (on a road, no zombies) then there are a couple of areas set up with a car, maybe some trash cans, and 1 or 2 people in full gear just standing there while you and the other 20 people on the ride shoot them with glow in the dark paintballs. My gun jammed Right away so I had to go to the front to tell them and luckily there was 1 gun open right up front. So I was by myself, away from friends (which would be the Only good thing about this ride) shooting a "zombie". I think there were a total of 4-5 "zombies".
