While still able to get around with her walker, she needed assistance for many of her daily functions. As we are both in our late 70's, we determined that some in-home weekly assistance would be needed. Relying on Yelp reviews we contacted San Diego Home Caregivers and met with the owner Sterling Miles. It was clear from the start that finding the right caregiver and meeting all of Mom's needs was his top priority. He even gave us information on other options in case his services might not meet our needs. He is genuine in his concern and commitment to providing top level care. We could not have been more impressed when we met Mom's new caregiver Jasmine. Her cheerful, warm personality was a perfect fit, and Mom was immediately comfortable with her. She went out of her way to not only care for Mom but to also help us in any way she could. Unfortunately, by the end of January Mom was at the end stage of her life. Because she was so comfortable with Jasmine, we had her continue to come even though Mom also had Hospice care by that time. As 20 family members came to say their goodbyes over the final two weeks, they were also very impressed with how caring Jasmine was and how much Mom appreciated having her there. Consumer beware. When an order is written that medication is to be used P.R.N. (per request…read moreneeded)..it is per their need. They fail to telephone the family and notify them that things are out of control and do you want a particular medication listed or in their emergency kit for your loved one. They make the decision and it is not a good decision! They use standardized high does of strong medication such as morphine, haldol and Seroquel to control your loved one when better options are available. You know that their intent is to never have your love one walk again but use MEDICATION RESTRAINT to keep them medicated when they don't send a wheelchair for them to sit up in. They have nurses who one assessed your loved one and comes up with different approach than another nurse. You should state you want to be called prior to any sedating medication is prescribed. Calls should never be made after adminerstating medication. CLEARLY STATE you want a call before they administer PRN medication. Otherwise they will kill your loved one faster than it should occur.

Either it's "Oh... payday is NEXT Friday, or "We didn't get your time card... when did you send it?" or "We sent you a check yesterday." Or the check amount is two shifts short. The last few months I worked for them, I had to go down to their office, 30 miles away, and stand over them while they printed out my paychecks, and 3 checks bounced. Still, they, their office staff and all employees are a most pleasant bunch. Go figure.
