When my 102-year-old mother came to San Diego in December 2025 for her winter stay, we realized…read morethat she had declined significantly from the previous year. While still able to get around with her walker, she needed assistance for many of her daily functions. As we are both in our late 70's, we determined that some in-home weekly assistance would be needed. Relying on Yelp reviews we contacted San Diego Home Caregivers and met with the owner Sterling Miles. It was clear from the start that finding the right caregiver and meeting all of Mom's needs was his top priority. He even gave us information on other options in case his services might not meet our needs. He is genuine in his concern and commitment to providing top level care. We could not have been more impressed when we met Mom's new caregiver Jasmine. Her cheerful, warm personality was a perfect fit, and Mom was immediately comfortable with her. She went out of her way to not only care for Mom but to also help us in any way she could. Unfortunately, by the end of January Mom was at the end stage of her life. Because she was so comfortable with Jasmine, we had her continue to come even though Mom also had Hospice care by that time. As 20 family members came to say their goodbyes over the final two weeks, they were also very impressed with how caring Jasmine was and how much Mom appreciated having her there. We highly recommend Sterling and San Diego Home Caregivers.

As my father in law is now approaching 102 (next month), the level of care is now essential and "round the clock". With us living on the East Coast and for my wife's father to be able to remain in his own home, having a fully reliable and conscientious service was not only very important but now has become a true requirement. Because of the commitment and dedication of the owner and a number of also extraordinary staff members, we believe that the care provided has most often been truly excellent. Over now more than 2 years, Assisting Hands has earned our Trust and Confidence. When a caregiver was unavailable, Assisting Hands has always been agile and "there" to assure continuous "on site" coverage, without exception. We thank the owner and a large number of caregivers for their fine efforts, often exceeding high expectations, and delivering a level of service that has permitted my father in law to be able to stay in his home, as he very much wanted and currently desires. Should there be any questions that could be addressed by us, kindly contact the owner of Assisting Hands for our Western, New York contact information. It is true for us that a partnership with an organization such as Assisting Hands works best when there is an active family support person(s) in full contact with the service provider. The owner of Assisting Hands has gone well beyond more than both normal and high expectations to personally do everything possible to provide quality, timely, and proactive service. We have been very impressed and appreciative for the excellent overall personal services received. We very much recognize what Assisting Hands has provided for our family. We are grateful to my wife's sister for finding Assisting Hands and initiating its services, and to Nina for her caring approach in running her business. JGU

My mom was there for 2 weeks, and they were so attentive, kind, compassionate. Kept her comfortable, clean/bathe, checking on her every hour, turning her. The nurses and staff were very welcoming of our family coming to visit, my brother and I, plus our significant others spent days with my mom and we never felt unwelcome, they checked on us as much as they checked on my mom. On my mom's second to last day her family came to visit her, about 20 people, some in the room with her some out in the living areas, we were as comfortable as if it was our own home. It was truly a full circle care. I'm forever going to be grateful to Parkway hospice home and Sharp for making my mom's last moments as comfortable as they can be, under the circumstances.

It was clear he was near the end of his life and my wife and I believed he would not live even through that first night. I will highlight individuals in a moment but everyone who was involved with dad's care was absolutely amazing! It takes a special person not just to care for the terminally ill but be compassionate and kind every step of the way. Briefly, Parkview is a large home in a normal neighborhood in Del Cerro (a community across the freeway from SDSU). Their maximum patient load is 4! Even in the middle of the night there are 3 staff members (nurses and a homemaker) to look after their patients needs -- more during the day. The home is impeccably clean and you can visit your loved one 24/7. There was a fold out in dad's room and we could have spent the night if we wanted to. When they saw the stress my wife and I were facing watching her dad's decline, their care and compassion extended to us too. Dad wanted to die at home but circumstances beyond control prevented us from making that so. The care he received was much more extensive than he would have received in his own home. We made it clear we didn't want dad to suffer and they stayed on top of his pain medications and performed regular turning to prevent bed sores. On dad's first full day at Parkview, I noticed a Navy cap on the daily volunteer Gilbert. I mentioned that my father-in-law had served in the Navy and before that day was out, Gil had set up a small ceremony where he presented a US flag that had flown on the USS Midway just the day before. It was a very emotional moment. The nursing staff on dad's team (Toni, Malia, Heidi and Mitch) were not just professional, they showed a degree of compassion and kindness my wife and I could not have expected. I don't know where they find the strength to help their patients through their end of life week in and out. They are simply amazing human beings. Dr. Verma (the onsite doctor) spend a long time with my wife and I the first day getting dad's health history and helping us understand what was happening at that moment. A social worker is also part of the team and Richard visited us several times during dad's 8 days at Parkview. His social work had more to do with us and he continues to council us now that dad has passed. Soloman is the Chaplin at Parkview and he prayed with dad to help comfort his transition. Parkview is part of Sharp Memorial and has three such homes in the San Diego area. If you or a loved one ever needs hospice care, it is my humble and firm conviction you could not find better care and compassion than with Parkview and the Sharp Grossmont Hospice team.
