Dryers took forever, adding cost while they failed to function properly. One washing machine broke after I put my detergent and money in. When I called the number, the owner advised me to move my detergent soaked clothes to another machine. As I was folding I realized my clothes picked up an awful smell from the washers and/or dryers and I spent $75 more dropping off my then-stinky clothes down the road to be redone because I was pressed for time. Owner said he would reimburse me, asked for my address to send a check, and never followed through. Months later, when I called to ask why, he said I needed to send him a receipt, something he initially said wasn't needed. I never bothered digging up my bank records or retrieving receipts from the log books where they did a much better job (across from the bus station). Just vowed to share my experience of their awful environment and the owner's idea of service in a review at some point. So now you know.

This lovely boathouse boasts great river views and outstanding instruction for the novice rower…read more Located past the Mid-Hudson Bridge, near the Poughkeepsie train station, the Hudson River Rowing Association can be slightly tricky to get to if it's your first time there, and the directions on the website make this process slightly more convoluted than it has to be, in my opinion. But once you get down to the boathouse, the river views are outstanding, and it really makes you want to get out onto the river and row! The staff is friendly, and novices have a choice of one of three sessions: a free Saturday introductory session; a series of 90-minute sessions on weekday evenings; and a novice rowing group, which meets during the summer and teaches novices the ins-and-outs of rowing with their fellow team members. Sessions include a tour of the boathouse - which also serves as the "home" of a number of local high school and college crew teams, including Vassar - work on the rowing machines and time in the expansive indoor rowing tanks. The staff are encouraging to all newcomers to this graceful sport, and emphasize an individual pace. Very nice overall!

I love the Daikin units they installed, which use R-32 Refrigerant, which has been the standard in Europe for several years and has only 1/3 the negative GWP (global warning potential) of the R-410 used by most other brands, and will be banned in USA from 2025. Units are super efficient and quiet. Installers were friendly, quick and gave attention to detail and included extras that were really helpful.

The technician came and hooked up a pressure gauge and an ammeter to take some readings. He came in the house and measured output temperature and told me I could use a 'head cleaning'. He also told me that I was low on Freon. He quoted me $1265 to top off the Freon (plus tax). I looked up the price of the refrigerant to find retail price is $75 to $300 for 25 lbs and my system 'needed' about a half pound (it only takes 3lbs from empty) which reasonably means that I needed as little as $1 worth of R410. A quick internet search tells me that it's a 5 minute job to put the refrigerant in. So, I paid $200 for a 'tune up' that did nothing to tune up the system but rather was just a 'foot in the door'. And I got a quote for topping off Freon that was more that you can buy a mini split system components for new (uninstalled). That's my experience with these guys.

In addition to them doing a fantastic job, they have been more than understanding and willing to work with my crazy busy summer schedule which has involved travel to be with an elderly sick grandparent and sending two kids off to college. Despite the fact that I am as frazzled and undependable as ever lately - I know that I can count on McGuire's to be there when I need them and to deal with my schedule in a very friendly and understanding manner. I don't usually write reviews, however I did notice that they had one review that was not positive and wanted to make sure that potential customers knew that this wasn't the normal mode of operation I have experienced. In the beginning of my services with McGuire's, I did have a hard time setting up service. However, I can assure future clients that this delay in service was 100% on myself. I did not know what to ask for in a cleaning service and I did not understand the way in which cleaning services worked. At no time was I ever taken advantage of or treated rudely. Karen did have to lay down some working rules with me - and because of these, I feel that our relationship moving forward will always be positive because of those rules. The salesman was very helpful and looked up prices for me, guided me thru the various paint options and placed my growing selection of items in a box. Ultimately, I left with everything I needed except the beautiful brand new TC55 with cab parked prominently in the lot. They unequivocally have superior products and service. Wouldn't go anywhere else for my tractor accessories and lubricants. Pine Plains has been my dealership of choice since I first moved to NY and sought out the best new dealership with which to begin a new relationship.
