When I moved back to Dothan, hormones and the "garden district water" took a toll on my hair. It became frizzy and was falling out. She used the same products that my salon in NY had used and she was open to my suggestions on how to apply the color for a more natural look. I have dark hair with a lot of natural highlights. Everyone else had died my hair solid black and due to the overly dark color buildup, it had taken on a purple tone. Candy not only makes my hair look natural at 52, but she has transformed the texture of my hair back to the shiny, healthy condition it had always been. This has everything to do with her in-depth knowledge of her trade. She actively pursues the most innovative products, processes, treatments, tools, and techniques in her industry. I called before they opened this morning, but they answered. I was given a 9:30 appointment with Malea. I made it on time, and she greeted me at the door. Malea asked me about what I wanted, I shared my ideas, and she went to work. I have thick,coarse hair, and it was a mess. She worked wonders on my hair--colored, trimmed, and styled it for me. Malea worked very hard, an as I left, I told her she deserved a break! Very smart, young lady. I will be back, maybe for that Brazilian blowout! Thanks to this salon for gettin g me right in and to Malea for doing such a great job on my hair. The scalp massage and head washing/rinsing almost put me to sleep. I'm a nurse and worked 15 hours last night and was awake for 28 hours because my husband works out of town. I'm taking the time to leave a bad review, because they originally told me they would charge me $45 if I didn't show up. I slept through my alarm because I had to work overtime and was so exhausted. I was really looking forward to a hair cut and they were not understanding when I begged them to not charge me so I could reschedule. I'm on a budget because of my kids, so now I'm going on 5+ months without a hair cut, I'm not blaming them, but they were very unprofessional and not understanding. I was about to pass out when I went to sleep, but I would have done anything to go to my appointment. I just didn't wake up on accident. They charged me $50 anyway after begging them not to, so I'll take my business elsewhere. read more

I made my appointment with Logan who was professionally trained in NYC. I came with a concept in mind, but after consulting with Logan I realized I needed to trust the professional. This appointment was in preparation for a really big job interview. I was thinking blonde highlights, Logan convinced me to go darker. I love everything about my new color. The darker color gave me a depth to my style I couldn't have imagined. My cut was exactly what I wanted and Logan even taught me a new style option using a flat iron. I waited awhile to update this review because I wanted to figure out left me so underwhelmed about my second visit. Kim was my stylist again, and she made some suggestions for my hair that I went along with. My hair looked good when she was finished. Did I love it this time? No, but I was happy enough, at least until it grew out. My first visit was great, as you can tell by my initial review, but I think I liked it so much because it looked basically the same as it did before, just cleaned up. After thinking about it, I came to the conclusion that because it was just so busy there the second time, I don't feel like I got same quality and amount of attention I did the first time. Don't get me wrong - this is still a great salon, absolutely better than just okay and definitely upscale for southern Alabama...but since I have to fly back to Seattle every couple of months for work, I think I'll stick to getting my hair cut there. read more

I can't say enough good things. I learned about this salon through a banner on Fort Rucker. I am used to salons in DC and was nervous until I called. I was greeted on the phone in a professional but warm manner, asked about the experience of the stylist I wanted (whoa! Awesome!) and given a very reasonable price quote over the phone! The location is tucked into a strip mall but don't let that fool you. When you walk in you're greeted by a beautifully, tastefully decorated upscale salon. The environment is friendly and not at all snooty. I only waited a moment before being greeted by Kim. Then the real fun began. My hair was a mess of botched "long layers." I took a leap of faith and told Kim and showed her pictures of cuts and highlights I've had in the past that my husband loved. She lit up and I let her work. Conversation flowed easily. I felt pretty pampered! Who gets a hot towel behind their neck while getting a shampoo!! They are a teaching salon, and you can tell they care about each other. I'm almost sad I won't be back for 7 weeks. I've paid so much more in DC for results that weren't half this. I'm so thrilled. Don't waste your money by going anywhere else. I personally see Taylor for my cuts and have been so happy! She helped me go from long hair to short and cute. I was very unhappy when I walked out of this salon. They up charged my service without my knowledge and when I complained that my hair looked no different they argued with me and did not offer to fix it. I feel like I got ripped off and they definitely have their hands in the pockets of their clients. Coming from Atlanta and surrounding towns I was nervous about finding a great salon...so I sent my son in 1st. He has the hair of a girl, seriously, a good 2" below his shoulders, but sports a "man bun" way too often. I figured he'd be a good guinea pig. We got a same day appt, which I love because our schedule is hectic. He saw Sabrina and she was great. She did exactly what we asked, a real style so he felt comfortable leaving it down and showed him some great options for everyday wear. He was so happy! The only draw back is you can't leave a tip on your credit card. They have an ATM directly beside the checkout counter so you can withdraw cash, which turned my $5 tip into a $9 tip when you add the fees I paid to use the machine. That's really irritating...I hate bank fees. Wish they would advise you to bring cash for such things. read more

Only staying in the area for a short time and trying to find a good hair place was a bit difficult. I searched and searched and this place came up on google with some reviews so I gave it a shot. I had my hair done by I believe Mary Ann was her name and she did a great job. I did not have a clear vision of what I wanted but with my vague description she cut my hair exactly how I wanted. This Salon is very clean, and vibrant. All the stylist are happy and you feel comfortable when you enter. The owner Candy did my hair and it came out beautiful, you can see she knows what she is doing. The Nail tech Nikki made my nails on my feet and hands look fabulous! The new massage therapist, have a very much needed deep tissue massage and she even offered advice for aftercare. I recommend this place over all others! I am extremely upset, I was working in dothan Alabama for a couple weeks and wanted to get my whole head dyed for the very first time. I've done highlights before but that was it. I came to this salon asking for a nice brown hair color with a little red and the stylist I had did not foil my ends that where bleached from a previous highlight and I ended up a pure red head in less than a week. So I called upset and wanted my hair fixed. So I proceed to get my hair fixed by the same stylist for the color I wanted, being a nice natural dark brown and ended up with an extreme amount of redish undertone. Not only am I still a red head and don't like it at all but I also had to pay another 50.00 dollars out of packet to get my hair fixed the second time..... I'm over all unsatisfied with the outcome and really upset. My very first whole head dye was a horrible experience.... read more

My advice would be to ask for a detailed price consultation before and during the service process.
