As usual you get what you expect here.
Comfy seating, nice food and warm atmosphere.
Feeling a bit parched we decided to pull in and grab a drink before ordering food. A great selection of cold drinks were on display and felt a bit spoiled for choice after a short debate I went for a cold coke zero and my wife went for a Pepsi max. We went to the seating area and waited for our kids to arrive. It did take a bit of time for our drinks to be served but can not complain as we could see the chef / host Nicky was also cooking and preparing our nick nak dinner which turned out to be a splendid platter of a range of food.
After dinner was served it was great to be able to eat with the chef (you know the food is going to be good if the chef eats it with you). We had a good laugh and joke and was a nice way to spend an afternoon.
The W/C facilities were also very clean and tidy as was the rest of the Diner.
So other then the slow drink service when I was flagging a bit with a dry throat everything else was 5* so really can't complain.
Another thing I was really impressed by was and very shocked & surprised at was that for a greasy spoon style set up Nicky's Diner had better quality tea spoons then the prestigious Dunston Hall a few miles up the road.
Me and the family will certainly dine here again. read more
