Rosy Lee is such a kind lady and brought us hot water bottles to warm us up. The cake here is amazing. I initially wasn't going to have any cake, but my mother-in-law ordered the Victorian sponge cake. Her cake looked so amazing that I had to go ahead and get the Carrot cake. This was perhaps the best carrot cake that I have ever had as it was the perfect combination of sweet and savory! Rosy Lee's also does a whole range of food items from bigger meals to cakes all at a great price. While we were there, some men who were working on the road came in to get coffee and Rosy Lee put together a big food basket for them and let them have their coffees in mugs. Her customer service is incredible and I wish that London had places like this!

Situated right opposite the staithe, it has a lovely location if you have a couple of hours spare on a fine afternoon to go and feed the ducks and wander round a lovely village.

However if you do want to get a scone try to arrive earlier than two o'clock in the afternoon because the locals seem to clear them out of the scones at lunch time. So without scones we each purchased a different cake from the menu. I had a lemon and sultana sponge and was in lemony melting heaven for a good 10 minutes as I tried to prevent myself devouring it in one! All the cakes looked beautiful and everyone really enjoyed them. The service was friendly but the place is tiny and when they're busy you might have to wait for a while to get everything to your table especially if you sit upstairs. I plan to return and book an afternoon tea with them later in the year.

The cafe offers a lovely cup of tea or coffee, as well as a nice selection of scones, cakes and sandwiches. I can recommend the cakes especially, they're generously portioned and super rich and tasty. You'll feel restored and ready to explore the coast some more after a visit, so well worth planning a visit if you're in the area.
