Very kick back dudes. They charged me a reasonable $50 price. This place is a Star Certified smog station which is important to know, as DMV will note down on your renewal paperwork if the renewal needs to be done by a Star Certified location. These guys took only about 15 minutes and electronically transferred the passing smog certificate to DMV. They have a comfortable lobby while waiting. I will recommend this place. read more

Took my car for smog here the other day. The employer seemed ok. Once he started the process, turns out my car was getting overheated. He stopped the testing and let me know he had to stop due to my car overheating. The problem I had was that I still got charged $25 and left with no advice. As "mechanics" they should atleast point out what went wrong with your car. I mean actually look for the problem, but I guess they only do it for the money. They look at you as a woman and cheat you off. Save your money and go some where better. read more

I brought my hybrid here in May and received great service. I was in and out within 20 minutes. I decided to bring my mom's car here. I explained the problems she was encountering with the car. He decided to use a scan tool before the test to determine whether the car was ready. The car would not pass because the sensors were not ready. I drove the car around some more and brought it back the next day. Again, he tested the car and found it was still not ready. So...back to driving it again until the drive cycle was complete. Did I mention he did not charge me a dime for any of the tests or his time? What I appreciate is that he is honest and provides great customer service. In the end, the car passed on the third day! This joker caused me unnecessary grief with DMV and BAR because he didn't check his facts. Afterwords, rather than be a stand up guy and retest my car for a reduced fee, he wanted to charge me full tilt for another check. I want to mention that I have used Nick's with luck, maybe 6 or 8 times, over the past few years, but it only takes one bad experience to loose a loyal customer. Test only stations are a dime a dozen and Nick's isn't inexpensive. I'm moving down the road to the west where the same service is half the price. Adios and best of luck to you too Nick's!! The fact that this place only has a 3 star rating overall and very little reviews to go by, tells me something. I took my car here for a smog check, in the 8 years ive had my car never have had a problem passing. After only two minutes the guys comes back and tells me it failed because of a code popping up. Price was already high but only took 10$ off for failing, paid 60$ for a failed smog check. He tells me what could be causing the code, which is illegal! You are not a repair shop legally you are not allowed to diagnose the problem. Then he tells me about a program that could pay for the part to be fixed so it can pass smog. So I apply for the program pay an extra 50$ fro an extension from DMV to drive legally, then take it to a smog repair shop only to find out that my car passed the baseline test there were no codes and no reason to do a diagnostic and my car passed smog with ease. So there is another 70$ for ANOTHER smog check. No work was needed on my car. When I return to Nicks smog check he has no explanation for why a code came up with him and not the other smog station other than time passed..???? Highly suspicious and shady! What i suspect is he unplugged and re-plugged the EGR valve(which is what he suggested was causing the code!) to make a code pop up. Easy 60$ for him and another 28 from me if i was to come back and retest. This place cost me extra money, time, and stress, I will be reporting it! read more
