This is an Apple Valley classic. I like to share a pitcher of beer, eat some Nick's Sticks, and get a small pineapple and jalapenos pizza.

Good service, medium pizza, TERRIBLE HYGIENE IN THE KITCHEN! BEWARE! Called yesterday to get a large italian sausage, mushroom and garlic pizza for carry out. The girl who answered the phone was cheerful, polite and took my order professionally, although she did have to ask another staff member if they had garlic as a pizza topping. When I arrived a bit early before their 20 minute quote time I was again greeted polite and the store seemed to be clean enough, although I didn't give it a white glove treatment. The reason this place only gets 1 star is because of the terrible practices in the kitchen and mediocre pizza. I observed for about 5 minutes what was going on near the cut table. I witnessed an employee drinking a monster energy drink on the production line/cut table and placing it on the same surface that cuts pizzas without ever washing his hands. He touched his clothing and apron without washing his hands. I then witnessed him cut MY PIZZA only inches away from his personal food item, still sans hand washing. HUGE health code violation and if this is being done in plain sight it makes me worried about other practices in the kitchen. I'm disappointed in the cook who should have known better, (hopefully) being a certified food worked, but he was only a kid making minimum wage. I'm more disappointed in any 'manager' who would allow such a blatant violation of basic health code in their restaurant. Employees should NOT eat or drink in areas where customers food is being produced, especially DURING food preparation. Hand washing is a must, and I just didn't see it happen. The employee touched both his clothing and his personal food item several times in minutes and never left to wash his hands. The pizza itself was okay. The crust was a deep-dish style and had a tangy almost sourdough like flavor to it. The sauce was a little thick for my liking and had more of a pasty texture, although the flavor was good. The cheese was really the star of the pizza. I got PLENTY and it was gooey and delicious, covered with plenty of sausage and mushrooms (which didn't seem as fresh as they could have been, starting to brown and blacken up a bit). The garlic was a travesty though. Clearly not fresh garlic but pre-processed and preserved, they put on an almost unforgivably large amount. I am a garlic FANATIC, using it in most of my dishes at home in large amounts, and I thought it overpowered the pizza. It is worth mentioning that this morning I did feel a bit ill to my stomach and did have to vomit. I had 3 slices of their pizza. Although I don't think it was food poisoning, it certainly didn't agree with me. Could be a good restaurant if they had better management in the kitchen. Too old mushrooms, too much garlic, too thick tomato sauce, and possibly dough that was past it's prime (based on the sour notes) are what stands out to me. All of this accompanied by terrible failure at basic food handling practices makes for a place I will NOT be returning too. I wish I would have went to Domino's, sad to say. read more

Ordered pizza and BBQ boneless wings. Arrived for pick up and was told they had no boneless wings, should have called. They offered regular chicken wings and put hot sauce on the order instead of BBQ, looked like a 2 year old made them. By the time it took to get wings pizza was cold. Horrible experience. Will take business elsewhere. read more

I've always liked this place. Good atmosphere and reasonable prices. Service has always been good, I've never waited too long for my order to be taken or for my food to arrive. They need some mature waitress in there have two young girls waitresses wanna force me to like the pizza!!! They ask me how was the pizza I said it was all right... the waitress said to the other waitress while I'm trying to cash out oh I like the barbecue sauce.. I said I didn't say I didn't like it... I said it was okay!!!! They really have to try hard to sell that rotten lousy Pizza I won't be back telling all my friends that's for the old seniors folks that don't know what they're getting cuz you're too old to know!!! read more

Chicago style pizza is bomb! And their salad bar is delicious and fully stocked! Def a new favorite pizza spot!

Not as good as it use to be! If you plan on going it takes a long time to get your pizza. To day the sauce tasted like it had too much tomato paste in it... I used to love the place, now not so much read more

This used to be the best place in the HD for pizza, but it's gone downhill for the last few years. I really only eat their pizza if I'm with others who want it. This last time, the pizza was incredibly greasy, and we were surprised by how scarce the toppings were. The flavor was also disappointing. For the price, I expect much better. read more

It's decent... we will travel to the one in spring valley lake even though it's further of a drive for us. I think the quality is lacking at this location. They don't cook the pizza all the way so dough is usually soggy in the middle and tastes raw... we love nicks sticks and they can make those ok.. I just think the employees are busy flirting and talking versus doing their jobs. At least what I've witnessed. read more

***HAIR IN THE SAUCE****I just ate at Nicks pizza on bear valley. Last time I came here the food was very good so I decided to take my family here for dinner tonight. The fettuccine was bland I didn't like it at all. Nothing like last time, no flavor at all. So I asked if they can take it back. I noticed they didn't take back the bread that came with my pasta so I just asked for marinara sauce to eat the bread with. I even told the server she could charge me for the bread cuz I felt bad for sending food back that I didn't like. Well I'm dipping my bread in the sauce and there was a hair in the cup of sauce. A short black hair. I told the serve very calmly and discreet about the hair and asked if I could just get the bill and go. She said she would talk to the manager about the issue and came back to say she took off my potato wedges. I still paid $47. And tipped $10 I just wanted y'all to know that I definitely wouldn't recommend this place to ANYONE! Good service but this is it!!! read more

We are new to the area and of course we ate out a couple times before getting the kitchen unpacked so we tried Nicks II on Bear Valley. Ordered 2 large pies, 1 cheese 1 pepperoni, we picked up. Our total was $35! I'd hate to see what specialties cost!!! Sorry Nicks but the price alone was a turn off, decent tasting but not the best I've ever had at this price. read more

My husband and I ordered a Nick's Special pizza and wings for take out. The pizza was really good. We liked the flavor of the marinara sauce, toppings, and the crust/pizza dough was good. We were highly disappointed in the size of the wings. The buffalo sauce flavor was good. We do plan on ordering from this pace again. Maybe even try dine-in. read more

Been going here forever. With in the last year the service isn't good anymore, had our pizzas burt at least 4 times when I pick them up and last weekend we went in to eat and sat at the table for 10 mins and no one asked us what we wanted to drink and they weren't busy so we left. Makes me sad because there pizza is awesome when they do get it right. read more

My wife and i went to Nicks II last night for dinner. We have eaten here a lot (lived in Apple Valley for 30 years). We were so disappointed in the food, service, and price. What happened? The Italian sausage was raw, the meatballs had a rancid taste and were very hard,the eggplant parm was under cooked and rubbery, and the price was through the roof. will not be going back. This wasn't my first time having their pizza but it was my first time dining in. Service was great. The food was off the hook. Especially the fried raviolis. My one complaint is that it was a little dirty around the salad bar area so I decided not to go with that. Def a great place to eat in the high desert. read more

Used to be a great value for the money, but recently prices have shot up substantially. Seems they are charging like a high end Italian restaurant but with a pizza parlor quality!!! Don't get me wrong, they make a great pizza, but thats as far as I will go about their menu. Way overpriced as far as their pastas and salad bar for what you get. I'm giving it a 5 star as this is the best pizza in the HD and my personal favorite, anywhere. I'm not a pizza expert by any means but the dough/crust is great. You know when little kids do annoying things like refuse to eat their crust? My daughter does that and I am glad to finish her's off. I usually get the All American cheeseburger pizza or the Chicago one. Both are very good. The salad bar is more than adequate as well. read more

It was ok, but nothing to brag about....over priced for what you get. $6.50 for 1 trip through a salad bar? And they don't even offer a protein for the salad I.e egg, chopped ham, nada! The marinara was good and chunky, the ranch was flavorful. The pizza was good but not phenomenal. The staff seemed like they were being forced to be there.....everyone looked as miserable as the prices. After $80+ dollars on pizza with the extras, I doubt we will return. 3 stars because the place was clean, marinara seemed fresh and chunky, and the food was ready when promised and no one got sick. Minus 2 stars for over priced basic food and staff who clearly is miserable being there :( read more

Not even close to impressed. The food was ok but for the price I expected a lot more. Service could definitely be improved especially since there were so many workers standing around socializing amongst each other. With so many bored employees you'd think one of then might take the initiative to clean the bathroom. I don't know if the ac was out of service, but with the desert heat, they need to take care of that. Next time, I'll save myself a few dollars and just do little Caesars. Basically the same thing you'll get at Nicks, but cheaper. read more

We have been going to Nicks Pizza for many, many years. We always order calzones to go. In the past year or so , we have had to return many of them because they were missing some of the ingredients we asked for. Last night was the final straw. When my husband picked up our order, his was completely wrong and he had to wait while they re-made it. They tried to keep mine warm but ended up burning the crust. We ordered extra BBQ sauce - got less than half the usual amount Half the normal amount of cheese Mine had less than half the normal amount of meat. BBQ sauce on only half of my husbands calzone. To top it all off, we ate the calzones because we had paid for them. Then we were both sick all night. I don't see is going back to Nick's in the future. Sad --- they used to be great. read more

I love Nick's Pizza. I've been there a handful of times, but my most recent visit made me decide to write a yelp! The server was very nice, and brought us our beer fast! The pizza did take a while to cook, partially because our pizza came out a little extra crispy. They brought it to us an apologized, let us know that they already had a new one in the oven for us. In the scheme of things.... even the 'burned' pizza wasn't that bad, and I actually ended up paying for only one pizza, but getting two that were completely edible. Many other places would probably just give you your crispy one and not say anything at all, and make you request for a new pizza. So I was pretty pleased they had already offered and had it going. Will definitely be back again.... here's to hoping they leave my pizza in a little too long next time too! :) read more

Ok so been here a few times. Sports parties,banquets, and gatherings. Pizza is good. My favorite is the taco pizza! It is very well made up and taste great! I tried the chicken parmigiano, and I was not at all impressed! Especially for the price no where near $14. The chicken was basically two chicken nuggets (at least in my mind) the spaghetti noodles were so so. Definitely will stick with pizza only from here on out! read more

A colleague and I decided to have lunch here. We were currently in the mood for some pizza after a long drive and the food is great. Did not have to break the bank to have enjoyed this place and during afternoon hours seem calm and quiet, something you don't get everyday at a pizza place so it was definitely enjoyable read more

What ever you do don't get the lasagna here !! Well under portion when I got the Alfredo lasagna! The whole plate is only sauce with one layer of noodles and no meat! I would definitely not recommend to anyone! Won't be returning here read more

I am happy I don't live in Apple Valley!! If I did, I know I would spend way too much time at Nick's. We drive for over an hour to visit our son & family & often wind up at my fav place to dine. The wait staff is young and helpful. The dining area is a little 'tired' as they say in the south, but they have an "A" rating posted in the window. My FAVORITE, & that of many diners, is not highlighted in the menu but NICK'S STICKS are Fabulous....... large pizza, loaded with cheeses & flavorings, cut in small squares & served with ranch dressing or marinara! Our kids, grands & great grands are all fans of Nick's Sticks too. Although the pizza we ate in Italy, was wonderful, Nick's Sticks remain at the very top of our list! read more

The pizza at Nicks is pretty good. Thick crust and a lot of toppings, and usually very greasy. If you don't like greasy pizza this isn't the place for you. One of my favorite things there has to be the Nicks Sticks. They are the size of a normal pizza but they are cheesy, garlic, greasy goodness. They are usually served with ranch or marinara. Its not the nicest or cleanest place but if you don't mind that, they have good food. read more

I have been going to Nicks Pizza for over ten years and as an overall across the board I would say they are the best bang for your buck with good service and great pizza here in the HD. The Nicks Sticks are the bomb me and the wife tend to start with those as a nice appetizer. It has plenty of cheese and garlic on it and could be a meal in itself. Pizza, the Nicks Pizza special is our favorite. Overall over the last ten years I have always had a good experience here with no issues.
