Here are some highlights of the gym: *Location: The gym is located above Cosentino's Market and offers up to two hours of free parking in the garage, with access from Main Street and Walnut. *Personal Trainers: The personal trainers are top-notch. I have trained with James, AJ, and Conner. *Group Classes: The group classes are free for members. My favorite is Natalie's Bootcamp, held Monday through Friday at 12:15 PM. (Please check the website for current times, as they can vary). *Facility: The gym is spacious with eight distinct areas, locker rooms, and pool access for members. Despite these positives, my review is not 5 stars due to the following issues: *Movie - Cardio Room: This room has experienced constant hiccups since Genesis took over, and currently, nothing is showing. *Plumbing/Water Issues: Currently, half the sinks in the men's bathroom are out of service. Last month, there was a small flood from the pool during bootcamp, and earlier this year, leaks from the washer flooded the men's locker room for over a week. *Turf: The gym's turf is original from One Life. It was stretched and glued earlier this year but has needed to be replaced for over a year. *Equipment Maintenance: One of the two skill mills has been out of order for six months, and several cardio machines have had "out of order" signs for several weeks. *Cleanliness: I do not believe the gym is deep cleaned very often, as there are dust bunnies and hairballs around most of the equipment.

The initial setup took a little bit of time because in addition to the normal gym sign-up they also get a digital scan of your hand and provide you with a pass code. The upside though is that you can literally check yourself at anytime. Do you want to work about after 10pm or before 5am? This is the gym for you. Everyone has great gym etiquette; from reracking weights, to cleaning and wiping down, to not hogging stations or talking about the weather (my #1 pet peeve). They also have a decently comprehensive sets of power racks/ squat racks/ Smith machines/ cardio etc. I wish they would have a separate Olympic weight lifting and deadlift platform or a reverse hyper but that's asking a bit much. The only very minor slight criticism I have is that the lights in the gym could be a bit brighter. But again very easy to overlook that in light of all the other amenities they provide. Definitely one of the best non-commercial/ local gyms I've ever been to. Highly recommended.

The staff confirmed my cancellation, and I was not charged up until recently. However, out of nowhere this year I was charged over $200. When I called to address the issue, I was told my account had never actually been canceled, despite the prior confirmation and months without any charges. The representative I spoke with displayed a concerning lack of professionalism and empathy. His only solution was to "waive the $15 fee on the account and call it good," which is completely insufficient given the circumstances. I will be disputing these charges with my bank, and I would caution anyone considering joining this gym. The lack of accountability, disorganized billing practices, and dismissive customer service make this a place I cannot, and will not, recommend to anyone.

I love this place…read more After almost a year of one-on-one personal training (see my previous review), I started going to the MWF morning small group training classes. It's a little more economical, I still get a great workout, and I get to do it with a group of really awesome people! What's not to love?! I love the flexibility that the MWF group classes offer. If I have an 8 am meeting, I workout from 5:30-6:30 instead of the 6:30-7:30 time. There is even an 8:45 am workout that is great if I have a day off and don't want to get up early. The workouts themselves are always different, so I never get bored. I also never know what to expect until Coach Heath writes the sets on the white board. He then shows us proper form for the first set, and then turns us loose. He's there to keep track of the time, make sure we're doing the moves correctly, and answer our questions. The "sets" typically consist of 5-6 exercises, where we do each exercise for 30 seconds until we've gotten through the set three times. Occasionally there will be a set that is at your own pace. There is usually a "finisher" too. I'm not sure where the name comes from, but you are D.O.N.E. when it's over. The prowler is aptly named, because it's difficulty sneaks up on you during those last 5 or so yards. I've also gone to the evening large group training class once or twice. The intervals there are for 60 seconds, which seem like an eternity when you're used to 30 seconds. Muay Thai classes taught by Bryan Carroll are a fun and challenging addition to the classes offered by SlinkFit. There is an additional fee for these classes, but they ROCK and are totally worth it! If you've read this far, you might be like, "Ok, sounds great. but I'm REALLY out of shape. There is no way I could survive one of these classes." I'm not gonna lie. It'll be hard, but all of the exercises can be and will be modified to your fitness level. All the trainers are great about showing modifications. You will be surprised at how quickly you build strength and won't have to modify as much the more you do the workouts. The other excuse people make is: "I don't want to work out in a group because I'll look stilly fumbling through exercises." The rest of the people in the group can barely see past their own sweat. No one is paying attention to what anyone else is doing. Promise. So quit making excuses, join a gym that you will actually use, get fantastic workouts every week, and meet new friends. You game?

ONE STAR First off,…read moreI want to give one star specifically to Tarah Zahner, Director of Membership. Somewhere along the way, one pretty important part of customer service seems to have gotten lost: remembering that the customer, especially a longtime loyal customer, should occasionally come before the almighty dollar. So, let me take you on a little journey. I've been a member of Woodside for many years. I supported the club, enjoyed the club, recommended the club, and even lived at Woodside Village for several years. I wasn't someone who joined for three months, used a treadmill twice, and disappeared into the night. I was a loyal customer. In September, I let Woodside know that I was moving away and needed to cancel my membership. I was then informed that I would still be charged for another month, despite the small inconvenience of NO LONGER LIVING IN THE AREA OR BEING ABLE TO USE THE CLUB. OK. Interesting. So I reached out to Tarah. My email was kind. It was respectful. I explained my situation and simply asked if, after years of being a loyal member, Woodside might consider making an exception. The answer was no. But quite frankly, the "no" wasn't even the part that bothered me most. It was how I felt I was treated in the response. Tarah's email came across to me as condescending and dismissive, with an underlying "Who exactly do you think you're talking to?" attitude. And THAT is where Woodside lost me. Because here's the thing: you can tell a customer no without making them feel small. You can enforce a policy and still show kindness. You can explain a rule and still acknowledge that the person on the other end has supported your business for years. I didn't expect a parade. I didn't need a plaque by the pool. I wasn't asking them to name a treadmill after me. I simply expected a little grace and good customer service at the end of a relationship that had lasted for years. Instead, I walked away feeling like all those years of loyalty meant considerably less than collecting one final monthly payment from someone who doesn't even live there anymore. And yes, I'm sure there is a policy somewhere that says they can charge it. That's not the point. There is a tremendous difference between what a business is allowed to do and how a business chooses to treat people. Customer service isn't really tested when the answer is easy. It's tested when someone has an unusual circumstance and you have an opportunity to make them feel valued. Woodside had that opportunity. Unfortunately, in my experience, they chose the invoice. After all these years, I would have loved for my final impression of Woodside to have been about the beautiful club, the memories, and the years I spent there. Instead, I'm leaving with a completely different impression: Apparently loyalty has an expiration date. The billing cycle does not.
