I purchased the Career Launch Kit for $899 from Your Next Jump (YNJ), along with a cover letter for…read morean additional $100. While I appreciated the professionalism in communication, the overall experience fell short in several important ways. First, there was minimal human interaction throughout the process. At no point did anyone take the time to understand my unique career goals--whether I was repositioning myself for a new industry, returning to the workforce after a break, or targeting a specific type of role. The service felt highly templated and lacked the strategic depth I expected from a career consulting company. They did want me to submit two job opportunities, to get an understanding of the roles I wanted to apply to, but by the time YNJ completed their services, those roles are obsolete. YNJ emphasizes their move toward AI- and tech-driven solutions, but this focus seems out of sync with recent hiring trends and feedback from recruiters nationwide, who have voiced growing concerns about the authenticity and accuracy of AI-generated materials (https://www.nytimes.com/2025/06/21/business/dealbook/ai-job-applications.html?smid=url-share). Unfortunately, that disconnect was evident in the documents I received. They don't need to be experts in every field, but there's a noticeable lack of industry knowledge that makes it difficult for them to highlight critical, role-specific functions. Drafts were returned with errors--including incomplete sentences and exaggerated or unclear claims--so I had to carefully review everything to avoid misrepresenting myself. Revision times of 24-48 hours (even for minor edits) created unnecessary delays in my job search. And conversations with Tim felt rushed and surface-level; I was never fully confident that my feedback was truly understood or applied. I did call YNJ to discuss these concerns before posting this review, but they did not respond, I'm assuming it is because they already received their payment. I had roughly five different hiring managers review their work, and none were impressed. While the general template that they utilize is unique to their services and adds a splash of color amid the monotonous pile of resumes, nothing really stands out. In the end, Your Next Jump's work may serve as a basic starting point, but if you're a professional with a nontraditional background, transitioning industries, or aiming for mid-to-senior level roles, you'll likely need to invest significant time refining their drafts yourself--or seek more strategic, personalized support elsewhere.

I have never wrote a review before but feel obligated to due to my experience…read more I purchased the Job Search essential package for fixing up my resume and I have to say I am incredibly disappointed with the service. They didn't bother trying to understand my job or what career I am looking for and basically just copy and pasted my previous resume but in a different template. The very few changes they made were sentences that were incoherent, repetitive (used the same sentence several times throughout the resume), and full of typos. No amount of "unlimited back and forth between the writer" is going to salvage poor and lazy writing. You're better off saving your money and doing it yourself or passing it through ChatGPT (which I am pretty sure they are doing anyways). The 5/5 star reviews for this company are clearly purchased/bots. Christina J.'s review is spot on for the experience

Once I moved in, the team in charge of maintenance & the financial team have been the same way. The only reason why I'm not giving them a 5star is because it'll be nice to have a basic gym in the buildings. But as far as DC goes, this is the best price/quality equation you will find outside of those "Low Income programs"

I, too, have had the unfortunate experience of dealing with James Watts at CMIC. It took two months…read morefor me to complete the application process and to move in the unit due to Mr. Watts not taking my interest in renting the unit seriously. I had to call him continually to remind him of my interests and to move the process along. Once I moved into the unit, there was nothing but problems with the unit. The walls are very thin that you can completely understand your neighbors' conversations from inside of your unit. The HVAC unit made loud and scary popping and crackling noises. Also, the front door intercom is very loud with the buzzer as well as the door itself when it opens and slams shut. Also, a few days before I broke my lease and was due to move out, I heard a rodent nightly. CMIC did address the issues promptly, but could not resolve the issues. Finally, as I have requested my security deposit and overpayment of rent back, it has been withheld. Mr. Watts no longer takes my calls unless I call from an unknown number, nor does he responds to my emails. I believe he is playing games and lying to me. He even laughed when I questioned why my deposit is being kept. He even told me that I have sensitive ears. I called the president of the company and he never returned my calls. My calls were always intercepted by some other staff member. I was told that he knows my issue and is in agreement with Mr. Watts about withholding my security deposit. Now, this issue will be up to the court to decide.

I honestly didn't want to influence anyone's decision nor damage Jay's business. Yes I did use the words "dismal" but the rest of his portrayal is not true and yes that's why a year after he posted his response I'm posting again too. I was meticulous with tabbed spreadsheets and organized paperwork - there was never just a pile of paper or box of receipts I don't operate that way. But in 2021 when I saw on NextDoor comments and questions about local CPAs, I wanted people to know it's not all rosy working with Mr. Reiner. Like I said, if you follow his rules it's good but don't deviate. I hope that clears up the motivation for my time delay.

I reached out, originally, because I'd learned I was negligent on an action due to an inheritance I got several year prior. He was patient and informative. I thought I was stuck with no options, but Jay was able to explain the handful of options I that were actually available to me. With the knowledge he provided I was able to make the best choice, and suffered zero repercussions form being late on the inheritance actions. We used other tax preparation services several times and felt somewhat confident all was well, until one year it wasn't. Though the establishment "made it up to us" we were happy to find Jay who explains things in such a way we feel comfortable with filing taxes each year. The attention to our individual issues has been welcoming. Each year he knows what happened previously and tailors his support. We've used him for planning ventures and large investments. He explains all the possible ramifications so that we go into new endeavors with eyes wide open.

Most of the building's owners bought when it first opened (so I'm told), so they're competitive with rents. It's more "classic" than modern, so you're not walking into some insanely hip place, but stately in its own right. Rooftop is nice, gym is ok, and the pool seems well maintained (haven't been on that deck yet). But if you're looking to move/buy here, get something away from the west (N Vermont) side. This part of Ballston is the loudest effing place on earth. I used to live on the wharf with 10,000 people a day passing outside my window, and I rarely heard a peep. I even had a concert hall in my building a few floors down and didn't hear a thing! Here, it's garbage/recycling, engines revving, pile drivers, back up alarms, leaf blowers at 7 am (even when there isn't a leaf to be found) and deliveries to the local bars ALL. THE. TIME. I'd finally had enough of it back in January and confronted some of the US Food and Waste Management guys in my pajamas after yet another insanely loud 0300 garbage pickup. The security guys working overnight at the commerical place across the street (Arlington Gateway) gave me the building manager's name and, with coordination with our own HOA, they agreed to stop (most) activity between 12-5 AM, and I actually slept through the night for the first time since like October. I can't believe I was the first to complain about it, but it's a million times better than it was. FFS, there's city noise, and then there's constant rackets that continually and deliberately violate Arlington's own noise ordinances. Anyway, a testament to the quick actions of the HOA here. That all said, I'm hoping some other apts have soundproof windows and more efficient AC units that don't vibrate, bc it can add up and get annoying quick. So much better than it was, but be prepared. Other than all this, great location and a quiet building....inside at least! Oh and if you're coming here, get a tiny car. Nearly every spot here is for a compact.

A really unique amenity that allows for a great movie watching experience. I would highly recommend the Continental to anyone looking to move to the DMV area. Its closeness to the Ballston metro makes it a great home for getting anywhere in DC (including both DC airports!).
