When the chiropractic treatment was over, he asked if I'd like a 10 minute massage to help "integrate" the healing. I said yes. He started on my legs, which was strange because I went to him due to whiplash and neck pain. He kept going up my legs until he started groping my ass. I sat up promptly, full of rage and wanted to break a chair over his head. I went to him for healing, and he used it as an opportunity to take advantage of me. He should be ashamed of himself, and I don't know how many other women he has abused in this way. I am happy to see that someone reported him and that his license was taken away. The last thing we need is for so-called doctors to be abusing us when we go for healing.

I have been going to him for over 4 years and don't plan on stopping my treatment with him any time soon. His knowledge of the body and how to heal it are remarkable. He loves what he does and is quick to offer several solutions to deal with whatever ales you. I also take herbs prepared by his assistant Celine who is equally a well knowledgeable acupuncturist in the making. They always make me feel welcomed and ready to assist me with a smile. My visits average about $147 for acupuncture and 3 weeks worth of herbs. The price is reasonable for the quality acupuncture rendered and each session is about 45 mins long. After my sessions I feel ready to tackle on the world and feel like I had a deep tissue massage. I live in Alameda and commute to north Berkeley because Teo is just that good. They have plenty of free parking as well. If you need acupuncture services don't hesitate to give them a try and tell them Lisa sent you!

We focused on mental health and with his help, I was able to successfully transition her to public school from homeschooling--something I was long told by other professionals was impossible. We still have a long way to go, but we are extremely grateful for his support and guidance and the acupressure and herbs he prescribes.

Ah, Dr. Gorman ... or as my good friend Michelle calls him, "the neck whisperer."…read more Between the 50lb briefcase and gym bag hauling every day, the crazy carpal tunnel that developed during my bar exam prep years back and the ex-boyfriend that thought linebacker tackles were funny - I was an absolute mess and getting worse. I am skeptical of all chiropractic cracky-crack doctors and thoroughly researched all alternatives including this thing called, "Active Release" technique. Enter Dr. Gorman. At the time that I made my first appointment, my right wrist was about 10 degrees colder than the rest of my body and I had lost full range of motion in my neck, including any ability to look to the right. My issues took a few visits to resolve but let me tell you, even after the first appointment - the sky opened up, the sun shined down and the birds chirped happily. Those of you that have experienced true neck/back pain can understand what I'm saying here. I rave about Dr. Gorman to anyone that will listen (and merely mentions that they have any pain anywhere) ... he has fixed up many friends/clients and they have all been grateful for the suggestion. Also important - I am a big baby when it comes to doctors and by that I mean I don't go unless there is blood (its just a flesh wound!) and some sort of limb is practically dangling off my body by a thread. Dr. Gorman is warm, kind and very patient ... though he once informed me that I was his worse patient ever to get their neck cracked. Apparently, claustrophobia includes a fear of someone grabbing your head with both their hands and trying to break your neck. He assured me (he gives me the same soothing speech on each visit) that he will not break my neck and he proceeds to walk me thru exactly what is going on ... he ends the talk-thru by telling me to watch fewer movies. Dr. Gorman ... he's a gift from the doctor gods!

He did better than that and I found complete relief in less than the 6 weeks: complete relief of the pain and popping. Greg patiently explained every step of the process to me, what he expected was the problem and how he was planning to solve it. He also explained long term maintenance exercises so my problem will remain at bay. Greg's office is easily accessed via Muni and he has flexible hours that worked well with my work week (early morning times available). Without reservation I wholehearted recommend Greg.

I visited Dr. Valencia to see if he could be an option for regular chiropractic care. I liked that…read morehe incorporates strength exercises into his chiropractic treatment. He came with good reviews and we had a long intake session for my first visit. While I was doing exercises he was composing a long text message explaining my options to pay for my visits. My session ended a little late and he had another client waiting. He sent his text and explained that I needed to pay for that visit, so I could pay for the initial visit or I could save money by buying a pack of ten all at once. I explained that I wanted to go through my insurance and have it go through my deductible and he had no problem with that and said the package offers a 20% discount for my insurance. Given that I had a good session and he was waiting for me to pay for the session I agreed and bought a ten-pack. Later the doctor sent his rates. In looking at the rates, I was paying more per visit with the ten pack then if I just paid for each session one by one, so was not happy that I was convinced to pay for a ten pack at a higher rate. We had communication back and forth to see if I can switch the package, but he said he's never done that in 30 years. Then Dr. Valencia said his contact at my insurance said he could charge his standard rates, not the contracted rates, until I met my deductible. I immediately called the insurance company and verified that that statement was wrong and he had to follow his contracted rates. At that point, I did not want to receive care from Dr. Valencia since he exhibited questionable integrity. I asked him for a refund and agreed to pay the Square fees net of the visits that I paid for. Dr. Valencia proceeded to be very rude in his communications with me after that and he took over a month to submit his refund. In that refund, he charged me for more fees than we agreed, but I just want to be done with him. Good luck to anyone you uses his care, I'd suggest billing one session at a time until you trust him.

Two years after my neck and shoulder injuries, I am still having mobility issues and unmanageable…read morepain. I was looking for treatment that actually worked after finding physio therapy and orthopedic doctors to be pricey, intrusive, and ultimately unhelpful. Also, I refuse to see a chiropractor after watching people pour thousands of dollars and lots of time into them with no lasting results. As a hardened skeptic, I am grateful to have finally found a solution - Muscle Activation Techniques - that work as both treatment and prevention. Paul Ciske is a seasoned professional and at the top of the field - learn more about him/his credentials from his website. He goes straight to the root of the problem - strengthening and activating the muscles that are in spasm as well as surrounding muscles. It works, and unlike a lot of other methods, you really only have to go a couple times and keep up with isometric exercises at home until the pain subsides. I first went to him a few months ago and only had to go once. I reinjured myself yesterday and saw him again and left with 50% improved mobility and a number of exercises that actually are giving me immediate relief from pain. I can't recommend this treatment and Paul enough, he will do wonders for you, he's reasonable and isn't scheisty like 99.9% of everyone else out there. A definition of MAT from their website: it looks at muscle tightness as a form of protection in the body. Weak or inhibited muscles can create the need for other muscles to tighten up in order to help stabilize the joints. MAT gets to the root of pain or injury by addressing muscle weakness rather than muscle tightness. This helps to restore normal body alignment, thereby, decreasing pain and reducing the risk of injury.

I first learned about Dr. Ciske at my former employer (the Sports Club LA in S.F.), when he…read moreprovided professional training and certification to some of San Francisco's most experienced personal trainers. Soon after my husband went through his basic MAT training program, he told me about how revolutionary this area of practice was for sports injuries, and I looked into it. If you aren't sure about the validity of MAT yet, let my testimony speak for it here: Within 2 sessions working with Dr. Ciske, (and 2 weeks of 2-a-day, 10 minute simple at home exercises prescribed by him), my chronic hamstring injury was HEALED. At the time, I was training 21+ hours/week for Ironman Canada in 2012...I felt my injury nagging on the bike and with every step of running. I had seen multiple practitioners for this injury over the year prior (chiropractic, massage) however, none of those modalities helped or provided complete recovery. I could not believe it when I ran a half marathon pain-free just 2 short weeks after working with Dr. Ciske....In my own understanding, MAT provides specific corrective exercises, which retrain your brain to send neural impulses (or 'communicate with') the muscles that have stopped firing and have therefore led to muscle imbalances and/or injury. I have since referred 6 different friends (triathletes and non-athletes) to Dr. Ciske, and ALL of them experienced the same dramatic healing I had! Since that time, I asked Dr.Ciske to come and speak at my office retreat, so my colleagues could learn more about MAT. Two of my colleagues have since made appointments with him and have had only great things to say about their experiences as well. If you have nagging pain, even from daily activities of living (walking, lifting)--I cannot understate my recommendation to see Dr.Ciske to END your pain, for GOOD. I'm not talking about for a few weeks of recovery, like other forms of therapy create (chiropractic especially)...but for total freedom from pain. One caveat- you have to be disciplined enough to do the exercises he gives you at home at least once a day. They are simple and they only take a few minutes. If you are willing to set aside 10-20 minutes a day to do the exercises, I bet you will experience the remarkable relief that compelled me to write this review.
