Ah, Dr. Gorman ... or as my good friend Michelle calls him, "the neck whisperer." Between the 50lb briefcase and gym bag hauling every day, the crazy carpal tunnel that developed during my bar exam prep years back and the ex-boyfriend that thought linebacker tackles were funny - I was an absolute mess and getting worse. I am skeptical of all chiropractic cracky-crack doctors and thoroughly researched all alternatives including this thing called, "Active Release" technique. Enter Dr. Gorman. At the time that I made my first appointment, my right wrist was about 10 degrees colder than the rest of my body and I had lost full range of motion in my neck, including any ability to look to the right. My issues took a few visits to resolve but let me tell you, even after the first appointment - the sky opened up, the sun shined down and the birds chirped happily. Those of you that have experienced true neck/back pain can understand what I'm saying here. I rave about Dr. Gorman to anyone that will listen (and merely mentions that they have any pain anywhere) ... he has fixed up many friends/clients and they have all been grateful for the suggestion. Also important - I am a big baby when it comes to doctors and by that I mean I don't go unless there is blood (its just a flesh wound!) and some sort of limb is practically dangling off my body by a thread. Dr. Gorman is warm, kind and very patient ... though he once informed me that I was his worse patient ever to get their neck cracked. Apparently, claustrophobia includes a fear of someone grabbing your head with both their hands and trying to break your neck. He assured me (he gives me the same soothing speech on each visit) that he will not break my neck and he proceeds to walk me thru exactly what is going on ... he ends the talk-thru by telling me to watch fewer movies. Dr. Gorman ... he's a gift from the doctor gods! read more

Saw Greg because my neck was hanging up and popping when I turned my head, and it was painful. Greg explained the problem to me and suggested he could solve it within about 6 weeks (1 visit per week). He did better than that and I found complete relief in less than the 6 weeks: complete relief of the pain and popping. Greg patiently explained every step of the process to me, what he expected was the problem and how he was planning to solve it. He also explained long term maintenance exercises so my problem will remain at bay. Greg's office is easily accessed via Muni and he has flexible hours that worked well with my work week (early morning times available). Without reservation I wholehearted recommend Greg. read more

I went and saw Gregory after having a horrible experience at another chiropractor that was bad enough I almost swore off chiropractic work as a way to heal my body. Gregory restored my faith in chiropractic work and is an example of what bodywork should be. He spent time assessing me: I felt that he listened to me about my condition, and after listening to me, he worked with my body to find the issue. Once he found the issue he used many techniques to improve my rib pain. I felt like the treatment I received was tailored to me, my body and my condition. I never felt rushed during the treatment or that I was just money to his business, I felt like he actually cared about healing me. read more

Great "bedside manner" and friendly doc who didn't mind explaining why he was doing things as well as how the treatment worked. I'm big on that. Also gave me an appointment on short notice over a holiday weekend even though I am from out of town. read more

I had a simliar experience as Joe A. I was losing sensation in my arms and hands and decided to get it checked out by Dr Greg after reading Joe A's review. Got the same treatment, the active release technique, and have been feeling better ever since. He seems very knowledgable and caring. Yay! I can feel my arms again. read more

Greg Gorman is a great doctor. I work with many healthcare practioners in many feilds of medicine, and few have the combination of knowledge, skill, intuition, and caring that Greg has. Having referred many patients with difficult and painful conditions to Greg, I know just how effective his treatments are. He takes time to listen to patients and works until he gets results. If you are looking for a chiroprctor, this is your man. If you are looking for a man, this is your chiropractor. read more

Highly recommend him! I had an emergency, and I was a new patient. He managed to squeeze me into his schedule. He took the time to understand everything about my issues, lifestyle, pain points, etc. He is very knowledgeable about how chiropractic care can benefit. He gave me lots of other recommendations on how to prevent this issue. He cares about the long term solution over short term solution. The place is very easy to get to and clean. He is very friendly. Love him! The only thing I would point out is that for my Aetna PPO insurance plan, he is out of network. But he will give you an itemized receipt with the necessary information on it so that you can submit the claim yourself to your insurance company. read more

I'm not much of a fan of going to see doctors and such, but, a few years ago I discovered Dr. (Greg) Gorman when I was flat on my back on my floor and couldn't get up. I'd never been to a chiropractor before, and while I wasn't a disbeliever, I was willing to try anything at that time. I crawled into his office and nearly danced my way out. He was amazing! The last many weeks my neck, back, hips, shoulder...you know, I am getting to a certain age, were all "talking" to me. I just left Greg's office and after spending time asking me questions, working his magic, and taking a long time to warm up my body with that FABULOUS 'rolling' table of his, he did a couple of adjustments and I literally feel like a brand new person. Ahhhhhhhh. Greg is professional. Kind. Very knowledgeable. I highly recommend him. read more

Dr. Gorman has the most complete, effective, and targeted physical care I have received from a chiropractor in years. He integrates targeted muscular work along with the adjustment, making it incredibly effective. I chose Dr. Greg Gorman from a recommendation of a friend, and when I couldn't remember his name the help of yelp. He is not only a talented chiropractor in terms of adjustments, but incorporates muscular work into his practice in the form of ART (Active Release Techniques http://www.activerelease.com/about.asp) Craniosacral Therapy, stretching with deep tissue work, along with who knows what other amazing muscular and osteopathic work he has picked up along the way. I appreciate that he has a more complete and complex approach to the body and chiropractic care. He also has the amazing table that moves to traction your back while you are on it and he works on you. For me the incorporation of a little muscular reeducation, and massage, stretching, traction, and his great adjustments have put me right only after a few sessions. An hour for the beginning session and evaluation and the 20 minutes for my follow up the next week and I can ride my bike again, sleep through the night without pain and hopefully not need the rest of the muscle relaxers prescribed to me! It has been since February that I had had back problems, and deep tissue massage, and yoga were not getting to it, so I found Dr. Gorman, and it is something I should have done months ago! Updates to come! read more

After a routine ankle clean-up surgery, I developed persistent posterior tibial tendonitis - something that prevented me from doing all the things I love, including dancing (cowboy, not ballet) and cycling. After two months of pain, my surgeon told me to take more Aleve and tough it out. A trusted massage therapist recommended Greg Gorman, who practices Active Release Technique. Just as I was about to give up and go back on crutches, I saw Dr. Gorman, whose honest, incisive and compassionate approach immediately reassured me. Dr. Greg was up front about when we would know whether his combination of ART and chiropractic techniques were effective. Relief came the next morning, when I was without pain for the first time in weeks. Subsequent visits yielded more results, and I am beginning to return to all the activities that I enjoy so much. His intuition about the subtleties of the body, of motion, and of how integral activity is to those of us who thrive on it is amazing - and he continues to provide counsel that has improved all aspects of my recovery, including physical therapy done elsewhere. I have recommended Greg Gorman to several fellow dancers and friends who are active, and who were equally frustrated by other doctors. I cannot thank Dr. Greg enough for helping me get my foot back to normal - and, in doing so, for giving me my life back. read more

I haven't missed Dr. Gorman at all in the last few years. I was pain free after having recurring shoulder pain since college and I was just as happy not to see him. However, this year I've been training for the AIDS Lifecycle and have been putting in extra miles on the bike as well as many hours at the computer at work. The shoulder pain was starting to come back so rather than wait until I couldn't move my arm I setup another appointment. Of course, this time I went in knowing that he would be able to address the problem which was reassuring. I was a little concerned that I would not be able to continue training as much with the shoulder pain returning but after one visit I could feel the effects of his work and was able to put in two long back to back rides over the weekend for 125 miles. Dr. Gorman doesn't just crack all your bones and send you on your way. He listens to what your problem is and has a variety of techniques that he uses. He will explain his techniques and why and what he is doing and makes you feel relaxed. Best of all he has early morning appointments so you can be in the office by 8 feeling relaxed and ready for the day. Wait, there is more...when I mentioned that I was doing the ALC ride, he told me that he is a supporter and gave me a discount - Nice! In any case, if you are a looking for a good chiropractor, I would highly recommend Dr. Gorman. read more

Whether for a sudden emergency or ongoing care, Dr. Gorman is fantastic. Attentive, kind, and insightful. He seems to always be able to squeeze me in. He helped me recover from a bad skiing injury (with lots of broken ribs), deviated septum surgery, and a very stressful period of my life where I had to fly a *lot* and needed TLC. read more

I was a patient of Gregs in Boston along with my son Sam. I have been to a lot of chiropractors alot of good and bad . Greg is the complete chiropractor and a genuinely nice guy . He is one of the best . I had a recurring injury that i sufered with for a 10 years . He learned this new treatment that expanded the bounds of the traditional chiropractics and I will say that although MDs could not figure out how to help . I feel that his work did the trick . He also planted the seed by being so professional ,warm and educational that my son decided to become a chiropractor . I have not seen him in years because I left Boston and now reside in New York . I would like to thank him and if he reads these and wants to get in touch with me or Sam . My e mail is rick@ahbrooklyn.com Thanks Dr Greg Rick Staula read more

For years I have suffered from low back pain following an injury. I made the best of it and carried on -- yoga, a good bed, and once-a-month massage have kept this thing manageable. That changed when I recently I re-injured my lower back. My doctor prescribed pain pills and muscle relaxers and that was about all she could do. On my first visit things were poppin', but I walked out of there feeling better. By my fourth visit I felt largely pain-free. He specializes in a technique called active release, and is by far, the best, most experienced chiropractor I've ever been to. read more

I met Dr Greg while attending his lecture on anatomy at "It's Yoga". In addition to being extremely knowledgeable about the body and how it functions, Dr Greg is an excellent chiropractic practioner as well. I was experiencing some numbness and tingling sensations in my wrists and shoulders which were beginning to impact my concentration. I originally thought the problem was related to my shoulders, but Dr Greg was able to trace the problem to some lingering knots in my upper back and neck area. He has been trained in and utilizes 'active release techniques', which have been extremely effective and therapeutic. I'm disappointed when our sessions are over, because a treatment is analogous to a great massage exactly where it's needed. During each visit, Dr Greg has been able to assist me in learning more about my body and ways to prevent further injury; in addition to chiropratic, he's a certified yoga instructor and pilates practitioner so he can help you determine appropriate therapies to alleviate your specific problems. Luckily I have decent medical insurance coverage which covers chiropractic work, and Dr Greg takes care of all the paperwork. Highly recommended! read more

Dr. Gorman is fantastic! Mixing Active Release Techniques and traditional chiropractic techniques he has helped ease my pain and helped me find new and healthier habits to ensure the pain stays away! He's down to earth, passionate for his patients and his rates are very fair. Two big thumbs up! read more

I'm a loyal patient of Dr. Fratto, so it was great of Dr. Gorman to see me for some emergency visits when he was out of town. His technique is very different, and really helped improve the way I feel physically and mentally. I would return to see Dr. Gorman. read more

All I can say is, exceptional. I've suffered from neck, shoulder, and back pain for years. I set an appointment with Dr. Gorman based upon a glowing recommendation from a friend. He was thorough, patient, and most importantly; effective. As unlikely as this reads, I felt immediate results. I cannot recommend him highly enough. read more

I recently visited Dr. Gregory Gorman and I was very satisfied by his Chiropractic services.

Looking at my old Gorman & Rizzo review, I realized I've been getting chiropractic treatment from Greg for a decade! But not steadily, guys. I'm not great at the maintenance visits when I'm not in pain, and the thing is that Greg gets me out of pain very quickly after I've done something stupid. Sessions with him are short and effective. He has cool tools like a table that moves to stretch out your back, which feels amazing. He has good suggestions for what to do between sessions to continue the healing. And he's a nice guy who is always interesting to check in with. read more

For the past 5 years I've been dealing with a messed up right hamstring that impacted the whole right-side of my body. Greg was recommended to me and I started seeing him in January. Now, six months later, the difference is nothing short of miraculous. I've regained most of the flexibility I'd lost in the leg. Tension has released throughout my entire back. I literally feel 20 years younger and am finding my energy levels returning. Effusive about Greg? Totally. But going from constant pain and discomfort to daily diminishing amounts has been wonderful! read more

I'll add my two cents and provide my review of Dr. Gorman's excellent services. I wholeheartedly agree with all that has been said and highly recommend Dr. Gorman. He is kind, patient, understanding and so very good at what he does. Please seek out his services, you'll be glad you did! read more

I have been seeing chiropractors for all of my life, to maintain as well as correct bodily alignment issues when they occur. Greg is the best chiro I have ever worked with in San Francisco! He is a good listener, doesn't rush you through your appointment, & makes you feel relaxed & welcome. I always feel so much better after seeing him, & the results last longer than most I've experienced. I HIGHLY recommend him, I will miss him dearly when I move to Portland! read more

I too was barely able to walk in - was flat on my back unable to move. With several visits I was on my way to my normal routine. Greg is amazing, professional, works magic, and extremely knowledgeable. Quite pleased with my multiple visits and highly recommend a visit if you are in need of a chiropractor. read more

I had a really bad bike accident a couple of months ago where I suffered a mild concussion. I was in so much pain that I couldn't even hold my neck up for more than 10 minutes at at time. I went to the ER to make sure "everything was fine" then was sent home with a bottle of Vicodin which I couldn't really take because I was caring for my three kids. A few days later, I have not felt any better and so my friend referred me to her chiropractor- Dr. Gorman! The day I saw him I had ringing in my ears, feeling dizzy and a lot of pain on my head, neck and upper back. I didn't realize my head was tilted to the right due to the neck pain. He listened very intently as I told him exactly what happened and after that he started working on me. I felt relief instantly! Of course I still had some pain but I never had to take any medication for it again. I just 'iced' it and it felt better. I saw him for the next few weeks after that until I was feeling 100% better. I intend to see him on a regular basis. read more
