The veranda restaurant seemed like the perfect place to celebrate our wedding anniversary. However... the experience was very disappointing. The waitstaff was very inattentive overall (awful service), the waitress was rude and our food arrived more than one hour after we were seated, which was 15 minutes later than our reservation. Late in the evening.. not even during peak dining hours. The food lacked flavor and was overall inferior. The prawns smelled and tasted as if they were not fresh. The pasta was thick and flavorless and not consistent with other wonderful food we had experienced thus far. Overall not happy. If it weren't for the beautiful atmosphere and view, there would be ZERO reason to eat here. Do as someone else suggested which was to enjoy the sunset with drinks here and eat somewhere else!

I could live on the restaurant veranda by the sea! Or the patio. Just exquisite with the canaopy of lemon leaves, the marble inlaid floors, the statues, white tables - all designed to not compete or distract from the view! As the name implies, it's so very serene. Definitely on the high end so if your budget can't afford a week, spend two nights here. That's what I did before meeting friends for the remainder of my time in Sorrento. Since the next four days were full of touring different towns on the Amalfi coast, a boat ride to Capri and the Blue Grotto, and Pompei, I joined them at a different hotel that was more affordable since we basically were just sleeping and showering there. But for my first two days in Sorrento when I wanted to just chill and take in the beauty of this magnificent part of Italy, I chose Hotel Bellevue Syrene and I already want to come back!

The Amalfi Coast and nearby Sorrentine Peninsula are full of majestic 5-star hotels. It's an…read moreexpensive region to visit, so be ready to pay high prices. Having said that though, the amenities, facilities, service, etc tend to be top notch at these hotels of course and this adds to the magical aspect of vacationing in this beautiful region. When researching where to stay we were mainly looking for a centrally located hotel with a pool and Grand Hotel La Favorita met this simple criteria. The hotel itself was on a great location, a few blocks away from the main strip, walking distance from all the main sites and just around the corner from the elevator that takes you to the lower level of the cliff from where you can walk to the port (this is important especially if you're using ferries as a mode of transportation). The decor of the hotel is beautiful and enchanting. They have lemon trees all around the ground floor and in the garden area. The furniture in the common areas is elegant and classic. Our room was very spacious, as was the bathroom, which had a tub (not separate from the shower). We didn't have a room with a view (we booked a classic double room) but honestly I'm not sure how much of a view other rooms have since there is a large hotel right in front of La Favorita which appears to block the views of the water. Perhaps the only rooms that I could see having a partial water view are the ones facing the side street (Via Tasso) and the ones on the top floors, but I'm not entirely sure. The room had a safe, complimentary sparkling and still water, coffee maker and coffee, robes and slippers as well as nice toiletries. We got delicious Baci chocolates left on our nightstands after each time the room was made up. They also had a pillow menu, from which you could literally pick the type of pillow of your choice depending on your preference (soft, medium, feathers, etc). I have never seen a pillow menu at a hotel before so I thought this was an interesting and fine detail, however I didn't really take advantage of it, I just kept the pillows that were already on the bed. The bed was pretty comfortable and the room had blinds which when closed kept the room pitch dark. The only two criticisms I have for this hotel are regarding the AC and the poor drainage in the bathtub. The AC really didn't work well and didn't cool the room much despite me trying to lower the temperature to 16C. Also, the water pooled in the tub as we showered and didn't drain completely until the water from the shower was completely turned off. and the poor drainage in the tub. We didn't actually complaint to anyone about this, not sure what if anything they could have done about it though. The main highlight of this hotel has to be their fantastic rooftop pool with great views of the city, the hills and the Vesuvius. We took advantage of using the pool every evening after we came back from exploring the towns. The water in the pool is cold and that was perfect to cool off from the intense heat. The bar and restaurant are also on the rooftop and although we did not have dinner there, we did enjoy a cocktail while watching the sunset. The rooftop pool was a perfect spot to relax and it was everything we were hoping for. Another great thing about this hotel was their fantastic breakfast served in a spacious dining area, on the balcony or out on the giardino. They had an amazing spread pastries, breads, cold and hot items, fruits, cereals, as well as an omelette station. Espresso drinks were made to order and to your liking (I always asked for my cappuccino to be made strong since I don't like them too milky). Service was impeccable. Overall we had a great stay and would definitely recommend this hotel if staying in Sorrento.

The housekeeper had just left it there, like it was a normal part of the routine, which is exactly what makes you wonder what happens in these rooms when guests aren't looking. When we flagged it, the manager, Daniela, brushed it off as a "mistake," insisted the bidet was "clean," and actually suggested guests don't know what a bidet is. We've owned one for 10+ years--we know exactly what it's for. Her fix for this nasty, unsanitary situation? Three bottles of water. Three. For a five-star hotel, that's a disturbing lapse in sanitation, and an even more disturbing lack of accountability.

I drove in down a long pathway and was able to park in close proximity to the entrance. The security guard notified the front desk so they greeted my outside. The porter took my bags inside. I had arrived before check-in time so I had some time to explore the property before seeing my room. The garden area outside is very nice! I was told that the hotel would be closing for winter in a few days time and that is was slow. Since they did not have high occupancy, they upgraded me for free from a garden view to an ocean view. After 30 minutes or so the room was ready and I was escorted to see the room. It was quite impressive as there was the room itself but had a "sitting room" next it is so it was basically a suite. There was a door to the balcony that had a table for two and an ocean view. We were provided with a complimentary bottle of wine and a Panettone loaf. The room was nice an had everything except for a coffee maker. There was no hot water pitcher either. The bathroom had a toilet where the seat was not aligned to the toilet which is scary for a man as a pinched ball sack would not be good. This property is right next to Piazza Tasso which is the main square and is surrounded by restaurants and shops. There is a bar onsite as well as a Michelin starred restaurant called Terrazza Bosquet. The restaurant was good and the staff were amazing, front desk, concierge, bell staff and restaurant staff. Customer Service is a big priority here. A few small tweaks needed but was a five star experience!

Our room was a suite with two balconies, and a picturesque view of the sea and Mt Vesuvius. Our room felt secluded and private. Beautiful and comfortable sofa and chairs in the room with all the bathroom amenities you would want. We would love to come back and spend more than the four nights we were there! I would highly recommend the hotel installing some safety features in the shower, as it is very slippery and there are no rails in the shower to hold on to. I would imagine someone has probably slipped. The breakfast was enjoyable and relaxing, the omelet maker girl was very nice! We really enjoyed walking the grounds including the cave to the waterside. It was a beautiful pool and very relaxing with drinks. I would also recommend the hotel accommodate travelers who would like to mail a post card and do it for them. Most hotels will mail it and even put the postage on the card. I would also recommend water to be handed out at the concierge or lobby desk for NO CHARGE. We had to pay 7 euros for one large bottle. We have stayed at other hotels and they just ask how many boxes of water we would like. This hotel is close walking into town, we would definitely go back!
