Even if some seats *are* open, most chairs will be used as spacers for the comfort of guests. You get 2 hours to paint and it takes 5 weeks to process. The owner is inflexible and abrasive but it's a local shop, not Disneyland. Total price adds up quickly when you get multiple pieces to paint. I've painted pieces over the years, and still regularly use them. This is a reliable establishment to make something nice for yourself or a loved one. It'd be better if they took online reservations through a third party. Few people would be comfortable giving their card details over the phone to a stranger. It's common sense not to. Maybe another kiln would be helpful, too.

Metalsmithing is no joke! My left tricep is sore just from holding the copper piece in place. The instructor, Juvana S., was professional, approachable, friendly, and seems knowledgeable. I found myself wishing the class was a YouTube tutorial because I need to watch/hear some things on repeat and also pause when needed. The class went on a good pace though since my fellow classmates were mostly new to this type of thing. The Metals Studio has everything (I guess) stocked and laid out. The three hours went by really quickly. I can't wait to learn more in the weeks to come!

We showed up minutes before intermission and right away I noticed... 1. The sound quality was poor (you could barely hear from the back where most of the crowd was standing) 2. There were limited stools to sit on but a majority of the crowd was standing... 3. There was a tent with free beer but they don't serve during the presentations (intermission looked like a scene from Walmart on Black Friday) The presentations were... not what I expected. The next Pecha Kucha night is on March 9th and I think I'm going to give it another shot. Chamorro Grindz was the featured food truck but we ate before we came (the reason why we were an hour late). The highlight of the night was when I discovered that teachers can check out artifacts to share with their students ... for free.

We had the pleasure of meeting (JORDAN), one of the artists who works at the gallery. He was incredibly kind and generous with his time, walking us through the store and sharing the stories behind some of the pieces. When we asked to see his own artwork, we were blown away. Jordan has an incredible talent for capturing the beauty of the east side of the island-the lush greens, deep blues, and the feeling you get when you're out on a hike surrounded by nature. As someone who spends a lot of time exploring those places, his work really spoke to me. You can feel the connection to the land in every piece. What impressed me even more is how young he is. His level of skill and vision is remarkable, and it's exciting to think about where his artistic journey will take him in the future. We were lucky enough to purchase a few of his pieces for an amazing price and I truly feel grateful to have them in my home. It's rare to find artwork that resonates so deeply, and even rarer to meet the artist behind it. If you're visiting NOHEA Gallery, take the time to ask about Jordan's work you won't regret it. Upon walking in, we were greeted by her pig and her little fur babies which we LOVED!! Her house is beautiful and so welcoming- you feel like home when you're there and when she's talking to us and teaching us, it feels like you and your friends are chatting and catching up. She has this personality that draws you in and has so many stories about her adventures! Our class consisted of 5 people including my husband and I, so fairly small and we made 3 different types of poke, deluxe spam musubi, coconut shrimp and coconut butter mochi. All of them are drool worthy and what I think was amazing is that she shares little tips and tricks about what she puts in her food to make it even better! Honestly, the ahi poke that we made was the best I've ever had and it cuts and melts in your mouth like butter!!! Along with all of Linda's wisdom about cooking, she also teaches you about local Hawaiian culture, words and history about how each food became what it is today. All in all, we are going to come back to take another class! We loved the atmosphere, the delicious food, and the rich history that makes Hawaii Hawaii.
