My husband surprised me with a cooking class with Linda and it was one of the best experiences thus far! The class is at Linda's house and it is BEAUTIFUL. Upon walking in, we were greeted by her pig and her little fur babies which we LOVED!! Her house is beautiful and so welcoming- you feel like home when you're there and when she's talking to us and teaching us, it feels like you and your friends are chatting and catching up. She has this personality that draws you in and has so many stories about her adventures! Our class consisted of 5 people including my husband and I, so fairly small and we made 3 different types of poke, deluxe spam musubi, coconut shrimp and coconut butter mochi. All of them are drool worthy and what I think was amazing is that she shares little tips and tricks about what she puts in her food to make it even better! Honestly, the ahi poke that we made was the best I've ever had and it cuts and melts in your mouth like butter!!! Along with all of Linda's wisdom about cooking, she also teaches you about local Hawaiian culture, words and history about how each food became what it is today. All in all, we are going to come back to take another class! We loved the atmosphere, the delicious food, and the rich history that makes Hawaii Hawaii. I have never enrolled in a cooking class before... but if they are all like Linda's cooking class, then sign me up for more! Location: Linda's house is in the suburbs, so if you're staying in Waikiki, you would definitely need a car/Uber/Lyft. House: Linda's house (from what we can tell) is gooorgeous. She opened up the front and back so there is plenty of fresh air, and her kitchen....talk about kitchen goals. Incredibly beautiful stove fit for a chef, huge kitchen island to accommodate all of the students, two fridges...truly a kitchen we were all in awe of. Accommodation: Being pregnant, I asked for tuna substitution and they were more than happy to accommodate my request! I'm sure they would be able to accommodate whatever restrictions you may have. Instructor: Linda is a very sweet and funny woman who was a great instructor as she had so much knowledge about the Hawaiian culture, and many tips for us cooking-wise. Cooking Class: I assumed we would all be cooking our own dishes. However, she designed the class where we all took part of cooking the dishes together (one person chop, one person cook..etc) and it was really efficient. I actually really enjoyed how we were cooking one dish "together"... and obviously she has done this many times before as the timing of everything was spot on. While we would cook one item, she would continue with her interesting lesson/history while cleaning in the background. Superwoman! At the end, she set up a table for us in the back patio to eat together and chat. Pair that with the delicious food we just ate... what a perfect way to end the night. Since I've been unable to walk, my husband has really taken it on his shoulders. He had told me he wanted to start taking cooking classes so he could prepare more than steamed veggies and everything BBQ. I sure wasn't complaining! So for his birthday, I booked Linda's mini class for both of us. He was absolutely thrilled with the gift! Linda is a fun and charismatic instructor and her home is lovely and very accommodating! We took the Hawaiian Favorites class and prepared poke three ways, coconut shrimp, deluxe musubi, and coconut butter mochi. I am not usually a coconut fan unless it's in Filipino desserts (weird, I know). Linda's dishes fall darn close to that category! I LOVED the mochi, especially knowing that it's fool proof! 1/26/19 We were lucky to get this as a Christmas present from a very good friend because I enjoyed cooking. Scheduled a class 30+ days in order to select the cuisine and work with the Instructor on the menu. We chose Asian Pacific and told Linda Crab curry and a modern take on dim sum. It took awhile for her to respond back, in fact I had to email what's up? She responded within a week with some menu selections and we were a go. What I found disappointing is there was no follow-up communication as a reminder, nor instructions for parking, what to wear, what to bring. Minor detail but still important to make someone's experience great. We arrived and were greeted by a big pig in a dog house near the stairs. Upon walking up to the front door, we were greeted by 5 chihuahuas (tame though) that are very cute but roam the entire house including her kitchen and dining room. Once everyone arrived, Linda explained what would happen and reviewed the menu. Apron's on, as this is a hands on experience which was great. As Linda explained the ingredients, she gave some background to those ingredients that were unusual and showed what some variations looked like too. She does have an expansive kitchen with many cool appliances and/or pantry that is custom built for her. We skipped around the menu because different items required different times to prepare. Overall it was a nice experience having hands on with recipies you have never tried before. Replicating these items at home was very well thought out by Linda, I give her credit for that. If you are looking for in depth explanations from a formally trained chef this may not be for you, but this can provide one with hands on experience that you can take home and replicate what was presented. Linda was SUCH a joy. Her life story is so incredible. Definitely ask her all about her history because she's such an awesome entrepreneur. She's an absolute professional and a wealth of knowledge. I also love how she incorporated Hawaiian history into the class. All the dishes were so delicious and well balanced. The process was so smooth. It was the perfect balance of attendees helping with various parts and her expertly taking care of a lot of the cooking. She shares some personal and cultural stories as we cook, and every meal feels as if we're sharing it as her extended ohana. The cooking class was FUN! My partner and I were the only two locals of the 10 people in class, and although we were familiar with the dishes, we were introduced to new ingredients and new ways of doing things. Our teacher/chef Linda, holds the class in her own home which is extremely well-equipped for a large group. Linda, who designed the area herself, is a human dynamo, demonstrating, preparing, explaining and giving a lesson on local culture, words and foods. She buys the best quality ingredients. The chunk of fresh ahi for poke was absolutely wonderful, the shrimp was huge and the home-made butter mochi was way good. At the end, we all sat around a long dining table enjoying the fruits of our labor. What better way is there to spread aloha than to share food and fellowship with a group of newly arrived guests. This was our favorite thing from our trip! Chef Linda was kind, funny, and very helpful. We go to a cooking class during every vacation and this was by far one our favorite cooking classes. Linda is an amazing chef (as well as a surfing instructor and a wide variety of previous experiences as well) and a great instructor. She is fun, has a variety of knowledge all of which is shared through out the class. We learned a ton about food, flavor and culture while making the easy to follow recipes. This is very hands on with everyone getting to participate in different stages of the preparation of every dish so you learn as you go. Even the two people who "don't cook" in our class got involved and were able to follow along as well. Linda gives you the full recipes so you can duplicate the food at home in a simple and easy to replicate manner. Although some of the ingredients are a bit rare and unique to Hawaii (which is also what makes them amazing) Linda has great suggestions for where you might be able to find them. And the food is AMAZING!!!!!! We loved everything we made including Musubi, 3 styles of poke, coconut shrimp, and delicious coconut butter mochi. Everything is amazing, and we left full of the amazing food we made. I also recommend making your reservations early, because if she has space, and you are staying in Honolulu, she will pick you up and drop you off for the class. Linda was a fantastic instructor and was well-prepared to give us hands-on lessons on how to make three kinds of ahi poke, coconut shrimp, spam and other types of musubi, and coconut butter mochi. Her home and kitchen are like a dream come true and are ideally set up for a cooking class venue. My family is from Honolulu so I'm familiar with good Hawaiian style food and Linda's recipes really hit the mark and are delicious! Also, Linda is gracious and helpful and her recipes are easy to prepare so that I can envision myself actually making all of them when I get home. Transportation from our Waikiki condo was prompt and her class was well-paced to accomplish everything planned right on schedule. My wife and I took a Hawaiian style cooking class with Linda on our recent trip to Oahu and had a really good time. In our class we learned about the different Hawaiian cuisines that we were going to prepare and also their history. We made Musubi, Mochi dessert, 3 different styles of Poke and also coconut Panko shrimp. The class was very fun, Linda has a great infectious energy and passion and we learned to make some cool new dishes that we've added to our own recipes. We got to make our own Musubi during the class which was really cool. Linda describes them as Hawaiian energy bars and sure enough we took a few with us for a long hike and they certainly kept us going. read more

My daughter and I came to Oahu to check out the culinary arts program at KCC and are fairly inexperienced in savory cooking. This cooking class is an absolute must for anyone wishing to experience Hawaii. Our group really enjoyed the class and learned both how to make a few Hawaiian dishes (musubi, poke, coconut shrimp, and coconut mochi) but also learned a great deal about the history and culture of the islands. Linda was an amazing instructor - the energy of an atomic reactor packed into a 4 foot frame! She easily guided our whole group, with varying skill levels, through each dish, while providing important context, helpful tips, and stories along the way. I really liked that she added come basic cooking advice along with walking us through the preparation (e.g. how to properly coat foods so that the coating doesn't just fall off). The class was paced well and not rushed. And, best of all, we enjoyed all of the food we made on her lovely patio with a local beer after the class. read more

Loved that Chef Linda hosts the class from her home in Diamond Head, a stone's throw from Waikiki and that Linda was one of the founders of Teddy's Bigger Burgers (you need to try them if you haven't already!) Chef Linda's recipes are amazing, as expected, and she combines just the right amount of hands-on food prep with industry tips and great conversation about island life. Couldn't have asked for a better menu that evening - all favorites: Gyoza, crispy Asian Brussel sprouts, shoyu braised short ribs & coconut butter mochi! First off, the pictures on Yelp or the pictures I have do not do justice to the experience I had when it came to taking this cooking class. Each class is open to a cuisine that is picked by the initial group that books for that class. As I was part of the initial group, my girlfriend and I had decided to go for traditional hawaiian style cooking, which include lau lau, squid luau, poke, and haupia pudding. Now, it didnt hit me that the traditional method would take a day or so but Auntie Linda's ingenuity had found a way to cook within a matter of a few hours. She ran the course in her beautifully renovated kitchen and had given a ton of insight in tips, tricks, and history of hawaiian style cooking. It was an awesome experience prepping for the feast we were going to make and in the end it was a extremely enjoyable experience. Linda is the best! Her knowledge of food and history is endless. She is as good at entertaining folks with a fascinating story as she is at teaching them how to make delicious mochi! Her five adorable chihuahuas and her pig make sure to greet the guests as they walk in. The dogs continue to provide entertainment by asking for rice balls and belly rubs. I kept on having to pause to give them attention because they were just too cute! In addition to that, the house is beautiful and the views of the beautiful Pacific Ocean and Diamond Head Mountain were breathtaking.
