I stayed here for 4 nights on business. I upgraded to an executive suite. The room was spacious for Europe, with a large bedroom, entryway, and bathroom. The highlight was the patio balcony, overlooking the city. However, I didn't make much use of this, as there were only two chairs, no table, and no recliner on my patio (other patios did have a recliner). The hotel is only steps to the hospital area, and about a 10-minute walk to the Palau de Congressos de Catalunya (through a pretty park).
The disadvantages of this hotel are as follows. Firstly, the location. Unless you need a hotel near the hospital, or near the conference centre, this is FAR from downtown (at least 30 minutes by taxi or public transport). There's really not much around. There are some coffee shops and restaurants, but these require 30 minutes walk minimum. Secondly, the rooms are somewhat dated. The bathrooms and carpets need updating. The wifi is terrible - barely usable for email, without an upgrade option. Finally, the gym is very basic. A treadmill (which I couldn't get to work), and elliptical, a couple of bikes, and some free weights.
Overall, I was comfortable in my stay, and it was convenient for meetings at the conference centre (and cheaper than the Fairmont). It was worth the stay, but not an outstanding hotel.
