Service at the clubhouse and bag drop was excellent and friendly. I do wish that the carts had GPS, but other than that, they ran smoothly. Cart paths could use a little bit of work, but being an ocean course, I can understand why it's not a priority. Tidal flooding, rain, wind, salt air, etc can really do some damage to a course. I donated a few balls to the water hazards. Not a lot of woods to lose balls in, so that was good. Overall a really great day of golf with my dad.

Having said that, the one thing that is super convenient about this place is that it is close to everything. If you are staying downtown it's only a 10 minute drive away and really only the course that's as close to downtown (aside from the muni). It's also a relatively open course and as someone that isn't the best golfer I do appreciate. Fees will vary but I'd only really play the course if it's $80-$90. During peak times you will see $130-$150 and would not recommend going at that rate

An overall good experience. Very small bag drop location. It's better to just pick-up your cart and retrieve your bag from your vehicle as they have a large parking lot. Check in was smooth and easy. Very pleased they offer a Veteran discount of $45.00 for 18 holes with a cart, otherwise its $105.00. They have a driving range but you're required to hit off mats. Very small practice putting area where balls are included. The carts have built in GPS, the tee boxes are well marked and maintained & they offer multiple tee options. All the fairways are fairly wide open, there is a fair amount of water with small creeks and steams coming into play. There are also small ponds on the front and back as you're playing along the Stono River with some nice views. All the greens were in great shape and fairly straight forward. This is a busy and popular place, even during the week, we were delayed about 30 minute off the first tee. Pace of play wasn't great either, so we played about a 5 hour round of 18. Sadly, there was no Marshal to maintain pace of play. The Staff at the clubhouse was great as was the Staff at the grill. I really like that they have the self-service hot dog station with all fresh condiments for an excellent all-beef hot dog. Several great holes on the back 9, especially #18, a par 4, which plays about 250 yards from Senior tees & requires a strategic drive to reach an island green. I would highly recommend this course but don't be on the clock.

The grass is cut so well, every ball on the fairways looks to be sitting upon a pool table, you can see the entire ball. The backside of The River stating with 16, a spectacular par 5 to another beauty the par 3 17th, hitting a small quick green, with the intercoastal water way as the back drop. There were 2 greens completely under construction, not that they could have been much worse than the other 16... I've played Dunes West and Rivertown which are both great golf courses and well maintained. Charleston National has a great layout, absolutely fabulous green complexes that are in great shape. Multiple sets of tees for all playing skills. Brand new golf paths and new GPS golf carts. If I was to try and find issues, I would say the fairways, in certain cart abused areas, need work. I see plenty of new sod in areas that were abused and new paved entrances in and out of the fairways. The problem I observed was a lot of cart abuse on and off the fairways and NOBODY USING THE 90 RULE which should always be used on any golf club. Ress Jones layed a masterpiece here to be enjoyed by all.

The 18 hole "Ralston Creek" is an exciting 18 hole regulation course, where you need to step up your game a notch, if not these 2 courses will cut you in half.. From the longest tees, the course plays to about 7,446 yards of golf for a par of 72, that my friends is about current U.S.OPEN length, with a lower slope rating though.course rating is 74.4 with a slope rating of 134. The Nationwide tour still hosts an event here and truthfully, if there were the room for bleachers, concessions and transportation. With a few weeks work to narrow the fairways and toughen up the greens, I believe the PGA could host an event here, it is that good.The course was designed by Rees Jones and opened in 2006. The 18-hole "Beresford Creek" course at the Daniel Island Club features 7,093 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72 . This is the older of the two courses and opened around 2000.The course rating at Beresford Creek is 74.4 and it has a slope rating of 134, so it plays shorter, but no less difficult.

I love the golf course and have been saddened because of a torn rotator cuff, which thankfully is healing. I miss my time on the course with my buddies. Rich allows us 2 tee times every Thursday in the early afternoon at a steep discount and I cannot say enough about how much I appreciate him and all he and his staff do for us. The course is challenging and always in immaculate condition. It is my favorite in the entire area. I was finally getting used to it and figuring my game out when I was injured, so it looks like I'm going to have to do that all over again. And I'm looking forward to it. A bad day on the golf course beats a good day pretty much anywhere else. My only complaint is that they have no hot dogs on the traveling snack cart. There are times when eating a hot dog is the best part of my game. Ha! When finished with a round I always go into the club and sit at the bar. I order a cheeseburger off their menu rather than the ones they send out on the course. I've never been disappointed, they're always delicious and the staff is friendly even though I'm not a member. If you go out and play that course for the first time, please leave me a message and let me know what you think.
