I golfed here with my dad last week and loved the views on and off the course. I live in West Ashley so don't usually golf over on this side of the rivers, but wanted to try something new. Service at the clubhouse and bag drop was excellent and friendly. I do wish that the carts had GPS, but other than that, they ran smoothly. Cart paths could use a little bit of work, but being an ocean course, I can understand why it's not a priority. Tidal flooding, rain, wind, salt air, etc can really do some damage to a course. I donated a few balls to the water hazards. Not a lot of woods to lose balls in, so that was good. Overall a really great day of golf with my dad. read more

This place gets a bad rep and I do understand why as it is a bit over priced and really the only cool holes are 16 and 17. Having said that, the one thing that is super convenient about this place is that it is close to everything. If you are staying downtown it's only a 10 minute drive away and really only the course that's as close to downtown (aside from the muni). It's also a relatively open course and as someone that isn't the best golfer I do appreciate. Fees will vary but I'd only really play the course if it's $80-$90. During peak times you will see $130-$150 and would not recommend going at that rate read more

Worst golf course I've ever played on. Over grown, greens sucked. I definitely wouldn't recommend setting foot anywhere near this place.

Could be a nice track but unkempt and poor shape. Fairways? basically dirt. Most greens were decent, just slow.

Right on the water, this open course is a real challenge. I'm an "adventurous" golfer and I love the open feeling, the wind off the water and the spacious landing areas. Now if I could only putt. The 17th green is the biggest challenge I've seen around here as it is a longish par-3 and plays directly into the wind off the water. I've played in tournaments where this was the "Closest to the Pin" hole and only one golfer actually hit the green. I have parred it a few times, but they were real interesting pars. I do like this golf courses a lot and think you would too. But I'm glad it's not my home course. I can shoot a 92 or a 110 depending on my game and the wind. Enjoy! read more

Never been more disappointed in the difference between the amount paid and value received in a golf course. Do not rationalize distance to downtown Charleston and bay proximity to play here. Go somewhere else. At a $129 green fee we were treated with bumpy, patchy and poorly lands aped fairways, rough of which 1/3 was dirt, bumpy uneven greens made of more sand than grass, and an unpaved cart path as bumpy as the rest of the course which created dust storms in your wake. On top of this they nickel an dime you for everything else. I was met with a card fee of just under $10 (debit or credit), paid for ice, and range balls were not included. 3 holes have the bay in play. The rest are very flat and difficult to discern from one another. Positives of this course could include lots of pounds, albeit poorly incorporated into the course's design. Lots of turtles. Being next to the bay. The par 3 onto a dime of an island green on the bay is fun. It's very difficult to find anything positive to say about the actual golf course. read more

First time playing this course and I loved it. Greens are great. Driving range would be a lot better with mats but still a great facility. Only caveat was on the turn the Marshall told us to pick up the pace because 4 groups were complaining behind us, there was not even 4 groups on the course there was a two some behind us no one else. I also asked if my group was playing on pace and he said no that you should be making the turn within an hour. I have never played at a course that is expecting a foursome to play 9 holes in 60 minutes. Besides that "rule" great place. Quite disappointed overall! I don't mind paying $90 or more per round if the quality of experience is there. Patriots Point was not a quality experience. The good points: holes 17 and 18 are scenic; staff were helpful. The bad points: Holes 1-16 were not memorable except for fairways that are too rough to drive on in a cart, numerous dead fungal patches in fairways and on greens, cart paths that are potholed and in terrible shape, and carts without technology worthy of the green fee. This course owner either needs to make a significant Investment to improve the course, or drop its green fee to about $35 because it is significantly overpriced. read more

The guys at Patriots Point Links were some of the nicest at any course I've ever been to. We got rained out after 9 holes and they gave us all pro shop credit. They couldn't have been more accommodating and also stored our bags for us after we shipped them. Really solid course and can't recommend this place enough for a great round of golf! read more

We had a coupon for 4 free rounds of golf. One member couldn't go because of kidney stones, so we asked if one of the free rounds be given back to us in a form of a certificate of a free round to give it to him. They refused. It cost them nothing to do this since it was already out there. They lost out on additional revenue because he would not golf alone when using it, so an additional person or two or three perhaps. They lost it because they were unwilling to provide good customer service. Keep this in mind if you are booking a round; or better yet, play somewhere else. read more

This course was horrible for the price. $150 and the greens had weeds growing out of them, and I don't mean a few here and there. I mean these weeds were everywhere making it impossible to put. As much as we paid for this course it didn't even have GPS built in the cart. Also they don't tell you that when you buy something from the snack bar you're automatically charged a 20% gratuity. So we constantly gave the women working a ridiculous tip every time. Take my my word for it and find a course that much much cheaper. read more

It's disappointing, unfortunately. Great views and has potential, but from inaccurate hours of operation to lack of communication for the driving range (when it's closed vs open) is mind boggling. There is quite a bit of backend work that needs to be done to optimize the course and information for it being a public course. Great location with views from almost every hole! Well kept fairways and fast greens. Challenging but still fun and manageable. The very courteous staff handled our large party of 20+ golfers with ease, all while still having a club championship the same day. This is a great golf course with perfect views of Charleston Harbor!! Conveniently located near the Ravenel Bridge in Mt Pleasant, easy drive from downtown Charleston. The course has rough that can be deep and nasty to hit out of. My biggest complaint is tee time course management and having to wait past your reservation tee time 15 minutes on a Thursday is a bit much. That is my main reason for the 4 Stars. Also bunkers that do not drain properly after raining 1-2 days prior to playing. Overall still a great course to play. read more

Horrible fairways! I have never played a course this bad. The fairways are so bumpy that you would fly out of the cart unless you go dead slow. The cart path was even worse. It was obvious there is not a lot of maintenance being done or money being spent. Then there are the fire ants. EVERYWHERE!! This is a $30 a round course not $75. Expensive for what is a very average golf course. On a Tuesday at 1:30 we paid $54 each for 9 holes with a cart. Has a nice view of harbor in a couple of spots but otherwise you are just looking at scrubby tress or the other fairways that are parallel. The fairways were a very unique washboard surface. You had to go very slow in your cart or the continuous wavy/ bumpy surface would knock the heck out of you. read more

Greens are in much better shape than they have been, you can tell the revival efforts have been strong. Fun and scenic course with reasonable rates. Friendly pro shop and staff. Great chicken salad and hot dogs at the snack bar and maybe one of the nicest views in Charleston from their patio and fire pit. I've played $20 muni courses with better greens and fairways than this place. You want an ocean side course to play?? Go to Wild Dunes Links, Kiawah Ocean or even Hilton head. This place is supposed to be getting a renovation and quadruple the price per round sometime this year anyway. It's all about the tourists and their $$$ right??? read more

Ultimately I stopped going here because of the price. 100 dollars is just too much to spend playing here, there are plenty of better courses in the Charleston area that provide better value. It's unfortunate that they are not putting more money into their course because it is an amazing location on the water, but the course itself doesn't have much to offer. Don't bother going to the driving range either, I can find better quality golf balls in the bottom of the Charleston Harbor. If they were willing to put money in the right places and invest in the small things I would reconsider playing here again. read more

Patriots point is a nice course with enjoying challenge and a spot on location. They lack in customer service is why I give them 3 stars. Some friends and I had an early tee time and a first timer in the group of 4. It was a brisk morning with barely anybody on the course. We played our first hole and taught the first timer a few things so it wasn't a fast paced hole. A group of 2 teed off right behind us so next hole we politely told them to go ahead of us. After finishing the 2nd hole, an employee rolled up to our cart and not nicely told us we were moving slow. We apologized and said we let a group ahead. A few holes later another employee rolled up to us and sternly told us to stay on the pavement because the greens were a bit wet. Throughout the holes, I felt like we were being watched by the employees while trying to enjoy a game of golf. I have a feeling they kept an extra eye on us because we were a younger group in our 20s but they were not a friendly customer service. I hope next time they can improve on service as the course is overall entertaining. read more

Not a good value for the price of a round of golf. We are from out of town and had never played the golf course before. No signage on the course or cart paths to let us know where each hole was. Cart paths were a mess with lots of potholes. Even the Fairway was the bumpiest I have ever experienced. The only reason I'm giving two stars here is for the Fantastic views of Charleston Bay and the friendliness of the Pro Shop staff. read more

Great track of land. Beautiful views. Typical muni condition. I've seen mogul runs on ski hills that were smoother than some of their fairways. I wouldn't drive the cart on some of the fairways without advanced shocks. Excited to hear this course will be shut down for 18 months and redone. So much potential on that land and area. read more

This course is not a $95 course in the least. If you are a tourist looking to play golf in Charleston, look elsewhere. Cart paths are undriveable because of the amount of potholes, bunkers have not been given any attention and are hard as a rock, multiple fairways are undriveable because of the amount of bumps. Being on the water you would expect some impressive views but you don't get that here. Not to mention having to leave after hole 12 because of a mix of a poor golf experience and being attacked by bugs. Overall a disappointing experience. read more

Made a tee time fir 10:50. Arrive in first tee and was promptly lectured by the Marshall about pace of play. Un was a hollow lecture as we are not on 12 and the round is going to be five hours. Large group in front hitting 8 at times off the tee and drop balls on the greens to practice putt. We asked to play thru and was told no. Not a Marshall in sight. Greens in good shape but rest of the course is a goat farm and that's being kind to goats. Would not recommend this course . Value is definitely not there. Guys playing with shirts off. Just a mediocre muni course experience from what use to be an awesome public course. read more

We have played Patriots Point at least a dozen times over the past several years. The experience has varied but was usually positive. After our latest round we vow never to return. The new owners decimated the course. All the old growth trees have been removed I suppose to speed play and add rounds. The course now feels like a badly maintained muni. The cart paths a crumbling, the men's room at the practice facility and in the pro shop were deplorable. Beetles in the urinal? The staff at the bag drop and in the pro shop were cordial, there was no starter or marshals which I supposed is meant to optimize profits as well. Range balls were $12 a basket for a medium size. Insult to injury after shell out almost $90 for the round. Oh, there is not an article of ladies gear for sale in the pro shop. There is reserved parking for the male club champion. Didn't notice a spot for the ladies! Sad to see and old standard for us ruined by this "new management ". read more

Saying Patriots Point is a $99/round cow pasture is an insult to cows everywhere. I was excited to play this course for the 1st time last Sunday with my son after moving here a year ago. The fairways have not been watered since our last rain. Trees and branches blown down in the fairway. Nothing but sand, weeds, and bumpy ground on every hole, no sand in the traps! No ball washers, trash cans, or hole markers on the T boxes and no GPS in the carts. The asphalt cart paths are torn up and un drivable on most holes, so for the management to call 90 degree cart rule is a joke. On the good side, they have a really great, friendly staff, beer and food prices were reasonable and the last 4 holes were terrific golf holes unlike the other 14 that were nothing but straight shots with a palm tree or sand trap off to the side. The views of Shem Creek and the Ocean on 14-18 were wonderful, but not enough to bring me back. Friends that have played the course told me it was beautiful and well maintained, I believe them. So I can only guess management is responsible for running it into the ground. This tourist trap is like the Hancock buildings 95th floor lounge in Chicago. You will pay $55 for 2 beers and a coke +tip to see a great view of the city. read more

Well...I decided to give Patriot's Point another go since they offer a free round on your birthday. I don't really WANT to complain because it was free, but I feel compelled to share my experience devoid of emotion. 1. Booking my tee time was good. 2. When I arrived, I was informed the greens were not in good shape. 3. All employees were friendly and helpful 4. When I reached the first green, I was shocked. To say the greens were not in good shape was an understatement! They were nonexistent...mostly sand, dirt, and clumps of grass here and there. 5. I could hear other players complaining that they should have been told of the conditions when they booked the tee times. 6. I was later told that when you call to book a tee time, the person you talk to isn't even in Charleston! They have no idea what the course condition is! 7. When I reached the 7the hole, a par 3, I had to wait for the mower to finish mowing the tee boxes and the sprinklers to stop watering the greens. By 9...I had enough....even free birthday golf wasn't worth it! read more

I was really disappointed with this golf course. I looked online and read up on it... Annika Sorenstam and links golf... right off the harbor... I work at a golf course so I always ask if the greens are being aerified or reseeding, etc. The worker said the course was in good shape... So my friend and I were expecting a decent round for $50. We get there and the course had undergone some majorly bad weather... so much so that the greens on half of the course were gone/not there... some of the fairways were really bad. Basically, if the course was in good shape, i'd hate to see what it would be like if it were in bad shape. i get it that bad weather happens but be truthful to your clients. The course was in horrible shape. It might be in better shape other times of the year but when I went IT SUCKED!! also the course itself, it's pretty bland. I'm sure the people there are nice, etc. but i was misled that day... i was in south carolina for several days and i feel like i wasted one day there...
