Jim was willing to tackle what other local well known contractors were either unwilling to consider or bid so high as to be unaffordable. Our project proved to be a technical challenge from the onset, raise the ground floor by almost a foot of concrete, completely rebuild the first floor by installing 3 impact French doors, 3 impact doors and 4 impact windows, cut off support an internal staircase including modifying framing around a dumbwaiter, reframe and replace every exterior wall from 4' down. Plus an added surprise rebuilding and repairing 45' of a heavily spalled concrete tie-beam in less than a week. We're still amazed at how quickly and confidently Jim set about taking on the project, he seemed to have it figured out before we even committed to getting started. He knew just right carpenters and subs to assign the work to. Once they began, they never stopped till the project was completed. Workmanship was outstanding, inspections were a breeze. Covid never slowed them down! I commend Jim for the quality of work and attention to detail, no corners or shortcuts taken, stainless hardware/fasteners throughout and pressure treated lumber. Add them all up and we have a completely new remodeled permitted downstairs ready to withstand the elements. It is without hesitation we'd recommend Jim Rutherford Construction for any project or home construction. Professional, polite and a pleasure to do business with. Given the recent increase in cost of materials, we were more than pleased with Jim's pricing and fairness.

The first was to repair/replace all the facia boards around my home. The second was to repair all of the cracks that had developed on my exterior concrete walls over the years. Carlos Jr., the contractor, courteously listened to fully understand what I wanted done. For each job he clearly explained the work that would be involved, the materials that could be used - clearly identifying the best, the least expensiv, and the one's he'd use if it were his home. He gave his cell phone number and promptly responded to any question or concern I had as the work was being done. If I wanted him to personally check something out, he would promptly do so and make sure the work was being done properl. To quote Carlos Jr. "Your satisfaction is worth more than money to me because I take my jobs personal like if your house is my house."

We had booked cleaning of large sleeper sofa, but added in the rest of the cleaning once we learned the price ($300 for everything). He showed up right on time, gave solid advice to us on what to have done and offered prices that felt like a good value to us. He even told us to simply machine wash the covers on some outside furniture and save a bunch of money over paying him to do them, and he washed some small pillows with non-removeable covers at no charge. It took him 2 1/2 hours of hard work, and he never complained. He was very thorough, cleaning every area, including the furniture backs, arms, edges, etc. The colors of the carpet and the upholstory pop now, and the whole place ffeels brighter. Everything is so clean! We're planning to have him back again next year.

Customer service is something that lacks these days, but not at Hansen and Bringle. The design team went above and beyond to make sure my kitchen projects were exactly what I had hoped for. Being a custom shop, they were able to use every bit of space in my kitchen without using any unnecessary fillers. The craftsmanship and quality is unlike any I've seen. The woman that works there, Mary, does the drawings by hand and never explains anything or the options that you can have in the kitchen. The drawings are very hard to read and they have no written warranty. Even Home Depot can make 3 dimensional computerized drawings now days and offer a warranty. When I asked for one, they said that they have been in business for 40 years and no one ever asked for one. The first set of cabinets that were installed had slits in the corners and big gaps. They even tried to cover up one with white out and told me that it was due to humidity. The shelves were all scratched. They told me that the sales lady told me before we ordered the cabinets that this would happen. Why would we order cabinets in Florida that could not sustain humidity? Because we were never did or at least warned that they would arrive this way. They actually arrived with the gaps and they told us this was due to our air condition not being on. I had another cabinet guy inspect them and he was shocked that they would even want to associate their name to the cabinets. The guy that installed them left a huge mess the first time Then the owner strung me along telling me that because of all my issues that they were not going to charge me a middle man fee to install the granite. He then said to me (3 weeks later) that he would not work with me because he did not think he would make me happy but tells me this at the last minute as I had already had someone lined up that I had cancelled. Who would be happy with cabinets that have gaps in them after paying $20k for cabinets for a small kitchen and 2 small bathrooms and scratched shelves? He changed them out and said he did me a big favor by changing them out. I tried to explain to him that this was how they should have been done the first time so he was not really doing me a favor but he sure thought he was for doing what should have done the first time around. Not to mention that all of my other contractors had to change their schedule to work around fixing the the cabinets. Not one apology as he thought he was doing me a favor but correcting their screw up. If his granite work is anything like the cabinet work, I think we just dodged a bullet!
