Outstanding! I've recorded my songs and have tasked Nexus to do other audio-related items for me over the years. Very reliable, good communication, and talented audio specialists. Talk to Chris, he is THE MAN! read more

This place and the staff are wonderful. Come here every time my drummer is in town and we need a spot to rehearse. Honestly, wouldn't go anywhere else in Oakland or the east bay. This is where the "East Bay Bros" were born and thrive. Thanks to all the guys at Nexus for being great hosts! read more

Hands down the best studio sessions I have ever had in my music career. Chris is a pro of pros and his knowledge breadth when it comes to engineering shows in the velocity, tact and results he takes with studio projects. Originally came into contact with the studio last minute when I needed a rehearsal space for a project before a show. We were able to book the live room for a warm up set and were heavily impressed by his background and the studio equipment. We came back to record a live set with Chris last weekend for about 5 hours after getting a very competitive quote. I've worked with engineers before that needed multiple hours with several engineers to do what Chris was able to do in a little over an hour to get us 100% setup and ready to play. After the session we took our stem files and now have what we need to mix and master our album. Chris even gave us a rough bare mix export of the sessions to use as reference, and even though he says it's a 'rough mix,' it's straight up better quality than some professional mixes I've heard. There were no surprise costs, we got everything done in the afternoon we booked, and Chris hustled with extreme respect to our time. If you're in the Bay and shopping for a partner for a studio project, you'd be wasting your money going anywhere else because you won't find a better setup than Nexus for the price and quality. read more

Chris is excellent at what he does. He helped us get three great recordings and we were so pleased with the experience and result that we will be returning to do 3 more recordings with him in the near future. Highly recommend! read more

great service studio is super nice he makes you feel very welcomed my son dad music came out great

I had a studio session with my band Ghost Rock yesterday and we had 5 hours booked. We were recording drum track templates and got them all done in one session. Chris is one of the dopest sound engineers I've worked with. He's knowledgeable in all recording and sound audio for the studio. I'm sure there's a reason he's been in the business for over 17 years and it definitely shows. If you really need a place to record audio then this is to place to go. I promise you will get the best results! read more

I was recording in the same complex as this studio, but had not known any of them. The guy I was recording with introduced me to Chris Paxton as the person who I should be sending my tracks and full album to for mixing and mastering. So, I did. In this process, I realized not only the level of expertise, but the true desire to have the artist he works with are nothing less than exhilarated about their finished product. No matter how many minor tweaks I told him I needed (even post mastering), he never complained, but had it to me as quickly as possible. No matter how many different versions I needed for performances and final mastering, he had them done. If I wanted a certain sound or wasn't quite getting the effect I wanted, never once did he say he couldn't do it. If worked until it was right and found/learned ways to get it done. And never once did he make me inferior or dumb for not knowing the correct terminology when explaining what it is that I wanted or needed for the songs. Due to the level of professionalism, and enjoyment (great personalities and easy to work with) and satisfaction (quality of work and finished product) working with Chris and his associate, Don Reynolds, so much that I decided to continue my recording with them at their studio, Nexus Audio. Nexus Audio has extremely fair prices for not just the quality of their work, but the level of service they offer their clients. I would recommend these guys and this studio to ANYONE. Their range of knowledge, genres, and excellence in customer care is one everyone, from novice to professional, should experience. read more

Nexus Audio - Chris Paxton mid mixing of a song. - Recording & Rehearsal Studios Near Me - Oakland, California

Needed to get back into a recording studio after a long hiatus. Chris at Nexus helped to get some ideas recorded and the inspiration to write and record more. Would definitely book more time at Nexus in the future and highly recommend giving them a try if you are looking for professional results. read more

I play in a band with a unique concept--multilingual garage lounge. We needed a studio that brought all their tricks to the table and Nexus didn't disappoint. Nick the weekend engineer was friendly and enthusiastic, and was open to exploring the unusual difference between our material (old 1960s bossa nova and ye-ye 45's) and our approach (loud, punky and garagey with soul-influenced vocals in 5 languages). He also managed to put down and mix 8 songs in 8 hours which is probably some kind of record. We're just a duo with one vocalist and two instruments, and we wanted a rough garagey sound, so that probably helped! Anyway, thanks to Nick and Nexus for helping us crank out a pretty damn good and unique debut album. Stream it on Bandcamp: catherinedenuvaring.bandcamp.com read more

I recorded a full length album here, as well as various other smaller projects with Chris, and have always had a good experience. Some highlights include: Fair pricing Up to date equipment Extensive knowledge Flexible scheduling Efficient time management Positive atmosphere Comfortable seating Every recording I've made here received good feedback from others about production and sound quality. I will continue to work directly with Chris and look forward to capturing my next great idea! A word to those who don't record much in a professional environment. Be prepared when you walk into a studio. You will save time, money, and be much more satisfied with the end result. All too often I see musicians and vocalists treat a studio like a rehearsal space, and wonder why they're not making progress. So brush up on your material beforehand and you will be able to spend more of your time working with the engineer to really making the most of it. read more

Wow. Just wow. I've been a musician/songwriter for the past 12 years and in that timespan I've worked with six separate recording studios/engineers. While I had pleasant experiences with all of them, I truly didn't understand the definition of craft, talent and professionalism until I worked with Chris. He's not only an incredibly cool and down to earth dude, but his skills in production quality, work flow efficiency, useful critiques, open-minded attitude, on-the-spot adjustments and overall skill sets, are completely unparalleled. Stop messing around and book a session with Chris or one of his talented engineers to record your next album. There's literally no better way to spend your money. Would vote 1,000 stars if I could. read more

This place is really, really amazing. We worked with Chris for three full days of recording and mixing our hard rock tracks, and we got everything we wanted. We were blown away with how good everything sounded. We're a three piece band, and none of us have ever sounded better! We looked around the Bay Area for prices that were right for us with the quality we were looking for. Nexus is an extremely reasonable rate for the quality they pump out. We'll be back! read more

Nexus Audio has served my needs as an active musician. I've recorded three projects here over the past nine years, and every time I do a new project, something has improved in the studio. I've always had a great experience with Chris Paxton, their Head Engineer, as well as the other engineers Don and Anthony, and artists I've shared space with. They are not hobbyists, but professionals with educational backgrounds in audio engineering. I've seen Nexus Audio grow from a fledgling studio, to a high end professional studio with top quality gear and a flair for creating wonderful music. Chris has a fantastic ear for engineering and from a producing standpoint, will help guide your sound to be the best it possibly can be. All of the engineers have always accommodated my schedule and been available at odd hours on all days of the week. I play mostly progressive rock music but utilize a lot of acoustic guitar, and been very pleased with my recordings. The engineers are always trying new and innovative ways to capture the right sound. I've seen a lot of other types of music in there as well including some big name hip-hop/rap/R&B and jazz, indie rock, country to name a few. The talent and resources here can work with many types of music. As with any studio, the better prepared you are before you come in, the better the quality of product you will create. I do highly recommend trying to block off as much time as possibly in succession to keep your project fresh and flowing. Make sure you can secure enough time for your project as you'll get a better result. I can't emphasis this enough. Prices are within market demand based on the equipment, service, and facilities provided. There is a lounge, and kitchen available. The other musicians I've worked with and I have always felt comfortable and inspired at Nexus Audio. I'm really glad they exist, and I tell other people in the music industry about them. read more

People can go where they want. My band prefers to go to NEXUS and work with Chris, what we love about the studio is Chris is open, laid back, and likes to be a part of the project but never overbearing acting like he's a producer. (although he can produce) so when you need his insight he's ready to give you the ideas he's hearing or the feedback that you need to hear. As of this 2014 & 2015 we will complete the entire CD post production and all with NEXUS, "when you have a chemistry, you can excel because the feeling is right. Excellent pricing, Excellent Scheduling, positive atmosphere, and the most important part; comfortable... to create! Thanks Chris your the best my brother, and you are a part of THIRD SOL's success read more
