Laid down vocals and 12-string guitar for a folky track. Danny B. the engineer I worked with was incredible - really flexible and meticulous with understanding my vision and making it happen. Did a three-mic setup for the guitar - and it sounds INCREDIBLE. Highly recommend for recording anything from simple folky acoustic all the way up to full band and everywhere in between. This place is straight up legit and captured my music in a way I'm not sure other studios could have. Again highly recommend working with Danny if you can. Prices are also pretty reasonable - will def be recording more here when I get the chance.

He's a fun and professional to collaborate with, and I'm beyond happy with how my song sounds as a finished product. I've been producing on Ableton for a few years, and I was specifically looking to work with someone in studio to learn and improve my mixes in general. I spent a few hours with Chris in his Oakland studio and learned so much during that time. It was one of the most informative sessions I've had since I started making music! Chris shared numerous different techniques and workflow tips with me while making suggestions and helping refine my track. It's clear that he's an expert in Ableton, but is also generous in sharing his knowledge. After our in-person session, we collaborated for another week or so via phone/e-mail through the mastering process. Throughout this process, he was thorough, patient, and gave invaluable feedback and recommendations - all while communicating effectively. Something I really appreciate about working with Chris is that he makes suggestions and gives honest feedback, but also makes sure that he respects the original vision for what the track should sound like. He makes suggestions but never pushes or makes it feel like you're straying or altering your original track. I look forward to working with Chris again! Highly recommend Mothership Studio.

My class is very small and personalized (only four students); we meet every Sunday at the studio and I have already learned so much about mixing in the 7 weeks that I've been attending. Our instructor Kyle is so talented, knowledgeable, and incredibly passionate about teaching us the ins and outs of mixing. He is also very responsive during the week for questions, which we all appreciate so much. With my new knowledge, I'm already listening to music and planning out my next songs differently and more intentionally. Alex, one of the owners, hosts a weekly meetup at the studio in person and over zoom, and I've had the chance to attend a few sessions. Alex and the group are so welcoming and inclusive and I'm very grateful to have found a place locally to turn to for support and connections. I have a one on one lesson scheduled this week with their Ableton instructor Ben, who has also been very kind and responsive to my questions and requests. The studio itself is well equipped and organized, and parking is really easy and stress free. I seriously couldn't ask for more. Thank you Garnish SF/Soul Graffiti Studio!

While…read morescrolling through the options, I thought, "It would be cool if there were a DJing class on here." I clicked next, and sure enough, there was one: a 60-minute Intro to DJing session with Devon at Washburn Studios In that hour, Devon walked me through turntables and mixers, and by the end I was mixing two songs together. I had so much fun that I signed up for the full DJ program. Classes are self-paced, which made it easy to fit around a full-time job, and I finished in about a year. When Washburn launched its DJ collective, I applied, and I've been playing live with them ever since. Now I'm back as a student in the music production program. What really sets Washburn apart is the community. Everyone has been kind and supportive at every step. Washburn came into my life during a rough stretch and helped me find something I truly love. Looking back, I feel like a completely different person from the one who found Devon through Blueboard. I've struggled with speaking up and presenting at work, and playing live has given me confidence that carries into my professional life. In addition, I never imagined I'd be DJing in San Francisco clubs. With DJing and production the learning never stops, and Washburn gives you the support and structure to keep growing. Devon has been a fantastic teacher, mentor, and friend. I am glad to have Devon and Washburn in my life and I am excited to continue the never ending journey with them. If you love music, are curious about DJing, or want to start making your own beats, I can't recommend Washburn Studios highly enough.

Not only is he a fantastic instructor (extremely knowledgeable and offering instruction for every level), he is a true advocate for your success. Devon is clearly technical and his program teaches you on "club standard" equipment. You will learn on Pioneer equipment - CDJs 3000 and/3000Xs and DJM A9 and/or V10. If you want to learn turntables/scratching, that is also offered. You will learn fundamental transitions and most importantly how to be adaptable/prepared for the unexpected. Washburn DJs are resilient and we exit the program with a robust skillset of mixing techniques. The program teaches you to think critically about the mechanics of mixing, especially the "WHY" behind when you would want to employ a certain technique in a certain situation. Devon and his coaches are dedicated and committed to your growth. Devon in particular is willing to get you as far as you want to go, if you are willing to put in the work. I started as a complete newbie. Now I'm playing regularly at various bars, lounges, venues. This Saturday I am playing at Halcyon, for example. I am always learning new things from Devon. I have started my music production journey and am pushing my DJing to the next level. I have even released on record labels under his instruction. Devon is and has been there every step of the way. This is the best investment you will ever make if you are serious about breaking into the music industry and/or serious about cultivating your passion for music. I look forward to having Washburn and Devon in my life for many years to come. I give my highest recommendation to Washburn. Come join the crew.
