Prices are drastically different, and customer service is condescending and often opportunistic with silly "inspection fees." Then there are the complete rip-offs that lack diagnostic abilities and should not be in business. I spoke with Jesse, who is honest, knows his business well, and doesn't need to resort to price gouging or surprise inspection fees. They repaired the car quickly and consulted with me before costing me a penny. Jesse gave me reasonable options and stood by his quote. He gave me an excellent detailed quote for repairs I will also need in the future. I'll never take my car to any other shop in West Texas.

I told the experts what issues I was having and noticing and it didn't even take them an hour to tell me it was just 1 inexpensive part to replace. They ordered the part, which took a couple of days to come in. They replaced it for me, and for the last year it has been working just fine. I wanted to give it some time between service and review to make sure everything still holds to this day and I am proud to say I'll be a new customer for life.

Our 2019 Jeep Wangler started overheating about 30 outside of San Angelo. We began calling around town to see who could help diagnose and repair the issue. We called 4+ shops, explaining we were from out of town, stuck on the side of the road, and needed our Jeep repaired. No one was willing to squeeze us in, and had very little empathy for our situation. When we called Ric Henry's, they understood our situation and agreed to take a look despite being swamped with other customers. Upon arrival, Shane was pleasant and friendly. Shane took our car in to take a look. While we waited, another employee, Dana, gave us a ride to get lunch and a quick tour of San Angelo. It turned out that the Jeep needed a part ordered that could not arrive for 2 days; it was a weekend. We rented a car and continued to Denver with complete confidence that the Jeep would be fixed. Sure enough, the next business day, it was ready, and we picked it up on our way back to San Antonio, again confident that our Jeep was in good hands. When I brought my vehicle in, I clearly…read moreexplained all the diagnostics I had already performed myself -- including the code my personal reader pulled and the compression test results. I came in specifically seeking further diagnosis to understand what was actually causing the code. Instead, they simply hooked up their own code reader, told me the exact same code I had already reported to them, and then recommended a full engine replacement for around $15,000. I was charged $250 for information I had already provided when I walked in. When I asked about deeper diagnostic work -- the kind I believed the diagnostic fee was supposed to cover -- I was told that would cost even more. I was under the impression that a diagnostic charge meant they would actually diagnose the problem, not just read a code and upsell a major repair. I got a second opinion from a reputable local businessman who actually took the time to diagnose the real issue. He is repairing the problem for about $5,000 -- far from the $15,000 engine replacement Ric Henry Auto claimed was necessary. Based on my experience, I strongly recommend getting a second opinion before agreeing to any work here.

He quickly had a new Jasper Transmission ordered, and was more than welcoming to us. It took several days for our parts to arrive, and he offered for us to stay in our camper on his property for free. He even let us connect to his electric to run our air conditioner. I watched the employees of Kelly's Auto Shop for a week, and they were absolutely always the pinnacle of professional and kind. Bryon is an extremely knowledgeable expert in auto repair, and could diagnose problems immediately and have them fixed in quick order. Kyle is a by-the-book perfectionist who treated every vehicle as if it was his own. He's young and smart, and a fantastic person. Kelly (the owner) is a great "old style" mechanic. He's worked on every kind of vehicle and seen every type of problem. He's well versed in cars and also isn't afraid to get his hands dirty and fix something when it needs fixing. Kelly and his entire crew are great people, and you'd be foolish to use any other repair shop in town. These guys are legends.
