Seats 1500, with a balcony, giant medallions on the ceiling, ladies' and gentlemens' lounge on the second floor, stained glass light fixtures, giant marquee, etc. The place is a little shopworn in places (a little plaster shows on the ceiling; a few threadbare carpet patches) but it's in great shape for a theatre this old. The staff is very friendly. In addition to Rocky screenings once a month they show classic old movies here, concerts, etc.

The tour of the house was guided and it was just two of us and the guide. The guide had a wealth of knowledge and we appreciated what she had to say about the house and the Sharp family. One interesting and impressive fact, their well was inside the house. This way they didn't have to go out in Michigan winters to get their water. My daughter is a big fan of old homes especially Victorian style homes. While it's a Victorian style house it also had Italian influences in the structure. The art gallery had a World War I exhibit (100 year anniversary), sculptures and a quilt exhibit.

Individual galleries that feature world…read morerenowned artists on a rotating basis, plus permanent displays which highlight local innovators, artists and such. Art from the local Jackson County Artist Association is prominently displayed (boy, do they have some great artists here!). Bought tickets ahead of time and used the kiosk to print tickets so I did not have an interaction…read morewith the first person for buying tickets. I had a gift card for $20 and the price of the popcorn and pop was more than the gift card, so it wouldn't recognize the card. I tried to purchase the tickets using the gift card as well and the price of the tickets was over that of the gift card. I'm not sure what is wrong with the systems, but a gift card should go towards the purchase and not be invalid because it can't cover it. I did check the card and it indeed does have $20 on it so it is valid. Disappointed that this can't be used like other gift cards. The staff for popcorn was friendly. Walking into a lite theater seemed harmless, but while searching for seats it was quite interesting. Those seats in theater 5 (and maybe others) were so worn and down to threads that was once the pleather recliners. It was absolutely a shame to see these seats in such rough conditions. It really gives the overall feel of the theater itself a bad look. If you have lived in Jackson all of your life, you will also recognize that the bathrooms haven't had any sort of facelift or fresh look in over 20 + years. Its a real shame that the last location for movies in this town is so run down. I forecast streaming will take over this location.

It's…read morebeen a longstanding tradition in our house to go see a performance of the Nutcracker a few weeks before Christmas by Chelsea Ballet. They have yummy snacks (usually even a gluten free option) at intermission. The Sugarplum tea is every little girl in a tutu's dream too! If you are in the fence- go! It's a blast. We not made it to any other shows, but I'm looking forward to trying out their pops shows like Harry Potter or their Halloween special where kids dress up and attend for low cost. My daughter (8- 3rd grade) started going to K.I.M tutoring when I was told she was reading at a…read morekindergarten level. She was always slightly behind playing catch up due to Covid hitting when she was in her kindergarten year. It was quite the surprise when I was told this at our parent teacher conference. I immediately contacted Kim and set up her first appointment. My daughter was reading at a Level F and when just tested this week she is now reading at a level L independently. Not only is she more confident in her reading her spelling and math are much better also. We have been seeing Kim for a total of 7 weeks.
