I normally don't leave reviews, but after everything I experienced with Mass Motors, I feel…read moreobligated to share my experience. For nearly two months, I was the one making phone call after phone call trying to get answers about my truck. I called so often that employees knew exactly who I was when I called, yet getting a return phone call was nearly impossible. Updates were inconsistent, communication was poor, and I constantly felt like I was chasing information that should have been provided proactively. What bothered me most was the complete lack of accountability. When concerns were raised, I felt dismissed rather than helped. Instead of taking ownership of the situation, there always seemed to be an excuse, another delay, or another reason why nobody could provide clear answers. After nearly two months in their possession, I was told the truck needed a transmission replacement costing approximately $5,000. Thankfully, I chose to get a second opinion before authorizing that repair. The second mechanic diagnosed the actual problem as a speed sensor and repaired it the same day. No transmission replacement was needed. After all that time, another shop was able to identify and fix the issue within hours. To make matters worse, additional issues were discovered after the truck was returned, including an improperly reinstalled wheel well liner, broken fasteners, and an oil leak that was not present before the truck went into their shop. These concerns were communicated to both the service department and dealership management, which is why it was frustrating to later see claims that they were never brought to anyone's attention. The most frustrating part is reading the dealership's public response and seeing statements that do not match my experience. I know how many times I called. I know the concerns that were reported. I know what was communicated to me, and I know what happened afterward. When a business cannot be honest about the facts of a situation, it becomes very difficult to trust anything else they say. The facts remain simple: my truck sat in their shop for nearly two months, I was presented with a costly repair recommendation that turned out to be unnecessary, communication throughout the process was unacceptable, additional issues were discovered after the truck was returned, and when concerns were raised, accountability was nowhere to be found. If you're facing a major repair recommendation from this dealership, do yourself a favor and get a second opinion before spending your hard-earned money. I did, and it saved me thousands of dollars.

My friend and I brought a young lady (Devanie) to Fairly Reliable Bob's to purchase her first car…read morebecause I had heard great things about the business (and let's face it, with a name like that you have to have something going for you to have been in business since 1975). We were greeted by a man named Butch Petersen, who I treated like I do all salesmen - as someone who stood between me and my goal (the perfect car for Devanie). It very quickly became apparent we were dealing with someone who was not your average car salesman, so on a hunch I asked if he was somehow related to my longtime friend Grant Peterson, who I got to know when I was involved with the local Better Business Bureau Board in 1991. (Grant is owner of the Bronco Motors group of car dealerships - the only place I've bought my cars since 2008 because of the honesty and integrity with which Grant operates his dealerships.) Butch's answer changed everything. Turns out Butch's father and Grant's father started Fairly Reliable Bob's together, not primarily as a money making business, but to be able to serve the local community. That is still their mission today. Fairly Reliable Bob's operate with a laser focus on serving their community with excellence and integrity, and everything else takes care of itself. And Butch Peterson was the owner and general manager of Fairly Reliable Bob's - a man who walks the talk. Long story very short, Butch found the *perfect* car for Devanie, answering all her questions to make *her* feel confident as well. He explained some of the many benefits of purchasing a car at Fairly Reliable Bob's, including a repair shop that is run as a not-for-profit company so all parts are charged at cost, hourly rates are less than half of other repair shops, and loaner cars are always free. Butch sent a trailer at his expense to pick up Devanie's trade in (which would not start), gave Devanie a fair deal on the new car, and arranged an unheard of interest rate for someone with no credit by working with a local bank **and having Fairly Reliable Bob's cosign the loan** for her. There are far too many things that astounded me about character and integrity of this business to go into here. If you'd like, connect with me and I'd be happy to buy you coffee or lunch and tell you more about them. Or just give them a try. I'm confident you'll be as blown away as I was. For believing in another small business such as we are. We purchased a car 3 days ago. There was a "noise" but we've never had low profile tires. Chris reassured us the vehicles are gone over by their mechanic and are good to go. The noise was just not right. Today we checked the tires. There are cords showing, rubber flapping and wires sticking out on the inside of the sidewalls, stopped by today to talk to them about it. They apologized, and said it won't happen again. Well NO it won't happen again, we can't trust you to buy from you again! Jack stated he didn't have time to really look at this one, that he had checked to make sure the tires weren't lose. He heard the road noise as well. Hind sight is 20/20 as they say. We should have put 2 and 2 together when the first car we drove had serious rear suspension issues. I asked what they were going to do to make it right. There is nothing I can do is the response we received. I'm VERY sad, that is surely not how we run our business.

After giving George an estimate on my credit, he suggested I go through my own bank as they would probably give me a lower APR. I am grateful for his suggestion and not just making a ding on my score by running a credit report. They truly are transparent and look out for their customers. Even after having document issues with my bank, George and Neil worked very patiently with me. George even gave me pointers on moving forward, which saved me thousands of dollars!!! While the paperwork was being finalized, their other team member, Gary, was out making sure everything was buttoned up with my vehicle. Even now George and his amazing crew go above and beyond in making sure I am 110% satisfied with my purchase. I cannot thank them enough. Thank you Rubin Auto!!

I finally decided it's time to look for a new used vehicle. It took me over a year to decide which vehicle. One that met the criteria finally popped up and so I decided to at least go for a test drive to see if my research proved correct. The answer to that is yes. In terms of my interaction so far with this business the response I received to my online inquiry was odd at best. I requested a test drive and Got an email that didn't make sense. Said some thing about having to do research and getting back to me which clearly was some sort of canned response since what kind of research kind of test drive require? The lot is about 30 miles from my home and with the gas prices being well over five dollars a gallon I didn't want to just show up and have the car not be there. I decided to plan a multiple stop trip to make it worth my while and indeed just showed up. The overall experience was pretty pleasant. I quickly got to the test drive and was allowed to take it out by myself to really run it through it's paces. It was a pretty high mileage vehicle so I certainly didn't expect perfection. My big concern would be something super expensive that would be catastrophic for me financially. I did experience some thing of concern but couldn't quite identify what it was. I talked to the manager who's a mechanic and he told me a few things it could be but I didn't think it was that. Any car I buy will go to my mechanic for inspection so they agreed to do that although I haven't executed on that yet. Overall it was fairly low pressure and I really appreciate that. I have to walk away and think about things and was allowed to do that without someone grabbing my arm and pulling me back in. Since I didn't make a purchase I really can't comment on the sales process for post sales experience but so far so good.
