For being a vegan burger place it was OK! It's too bad they're not making their own patties like other local restaurants do. I was up sold on the beyond 2.0 burger patty and was, well it seemed like something I can make at home for my own family and not pay $10 for! No seat on the patty. Looked steamed or something.... The sauce was good but it had me smelling like garlic the rest of the day. I was really hopeful for a great experience. Instead it was more like a previous frozen the steamed patty on a tough bun. The veggies were nice thick cut. And the soda selection is unique! Love the real sugar and agave sodas! Needless to say I only ate a few bites. Let me start off with saying I do not lead a plant based lifestyle. So take this review with that in mind. I tried Next Level Burger because I was intrigued. I wanted to see what a plant based burger was all about. So I tried the crispy chicken burger and my spouse got the classic double cheeseburger. Honestly - they looked pretty normal! I loved the packaging that the burgers and fries came in. The bag wasn't weighed down with grease either. As I ate the crispy chicken sandwich I was surprised - it wasn't bad. But, it definitely left me wanting a real crispy chicken sandwich. The burger was better but again, this won't fulfill your craving if you are looking to have a burger itch scratched. Remember though, we do not lead a plant based or Vegan lifestyle so this was new for us. The fries were pretty good. We tried both the crinkle cut and tots. Lastly we ordered milkshakes. I couldn't finish my shake. Way too much coconut milk. My husbands shake wasn't mixed well. He had the peanut butter milkshake and half his shake was just chocolate chips that he could eat whole. I really didn't prefer the taste of the milkshakes. So the question; would I go back? Probably not. I know I am not the targeted customer. We ordered the American burger w/ Beyond, special fries, a chipotle burger and a Cobb salad. We tried their beefy patty at first but switched to Beyond since my son didn't like it. The special fries were good and we loved the Cobb salad. The chipotle burger was delicious but they forgot to take off the jalapeños like we ordered. The Cobb salad was especially delicious with honey mustard dressing. The blackberry shake wasn't great. It tasted like soy milk and not so much like blackberries. A huge shout out to the customer service I received today! I emailed the company this morning to see if they could possibly serve their soy or coconut soft serve in a cup - rather than be limited to having them in a shake. (I've always loved vanilla soft serve as a kid, but since becoming lactose intolerant as an adult, I can rarely find a non-dairy soft serve option that's any good.) I received a very prompt and very friendly reply from Jory, the Regional Operations Manager, just a couple hours later! She said they "would be more than happy to make it a reality" for me. She also cc'd the store leadership with her reply. Kira from the store replied with super friendly comments too, adding that her favorite is a combination of the soy and coconut. Well, I went tonight, and it was clear the staff had been communicated with. The kind employee served me with a smile and pleasant attitude. I took the non-so-great picture of the soft serve in my car - before I quickly dove into it! I guess it seems a little silly to get so excited about ice cream, but it's the simple pleasures that can mean a lot - especially after the unexpectedly hard day I had. This is a great spot in Lake Oswego's Whole Foods 365. I must admit, the first time my kids ate here they didn't love it. I think their expectations of what a burger should taste like versus what they tasted were way off. But we kept going until they were accustomed to the vegan menu. Now they love it. My personal favorite item is the Garden Style Grilled Chz. Tomato, onion and avo topped with cheddar or swiss style cheese. It is really tasty. Kids like the burgers and fries. Next Level also has the best vegan shakes. The shakes are rich, thick, and so creamy. The shakes start with hand spun soy or coconut soft serve ice cream. From there you pick the flavor of your ice cream and then add in's like Brownie Explosion, Cookies and Cream or Mint Chocolate Cup. OMG - so good! Finally, service is consistently friendly and fast. I was on this side of town and needed somewhere my vegan daughter could eat and we found this place on yelp. Everything they serve here is plant based. Very friendly lady helped us at the counter and answered any questions we had and even made some recommendations. They have a number of different burgers and dogs available. I had the classic with the beyond burger, which is an extra $2.50 over the standard patty. While I won't mistake it for beef, overall it was a pretty decent burger. We had an order of fries with the burgers, crinkly cut, thick, but a bit heavy of the seasoning for my tastes, just give me some salt please. 2 burgers, 1 fry and 2 glasses of water = $25.00. ouch. read more

I have been trying to go to a more plant-based diet lately and this was one of the best vegan burgers I've had!! My boyfriend picked it up for us so I didn't see the environment in the store, however, the food was absolutely amazing!! I got the standard cheese burger and fries (although next time maybe no cheese, still have some trouble eating vegan cheese haha) and it was amazing!! The Maverick Burger has delicious sauce, tempeh bacon, onion rings and Tempeh bacon. The Chipotle Burger is also really great. This black bean and veggie patty is packed with tasty flavors from the chipotle mayo and jalapenos. Also I loved the organic crinkle fries and sweet potato fries. My son and I have been on a mission to eat cleaner/healthier and although we still eat meat occasionally, have begun cooking with many meat and dairy alternatives. Prior to this switch, we would make it a point to order delivery about once a week as a treat. Since the switch, we've tried one other vegan restaurant in the Tualatin area for burgers, it was o.k. but lacking (we wouldn't order burgers from there again). My son ordered The Animal without any sauces (he missed out!) and I ordered the Chili Chz Dog w/extra green onions, red onions, and some guacamole. He had the seasoned crinkle fries and I had the sweet potato fries. First off, the ketchup and the special sauce are fantastic - wowza - what a difference homemade makes!! My son absolutely loved his burger (I stole a bite of the tempeh bacon which was good). After finishing his food, he told me that the next time we order burgers, he wants to order from Next Level Burger - so I think we've found our place. My first impression of the Chili Chz Dog was that it was small, however, with the first bite I took (with knife/fork), I found it interesting in a very, very good way! I'm not sure what the brat is made of and the texture was different than a regular brat/dog (of course) but the combination of the chili, melted cheeze, and the drizzles of "sour cream" and their special sauce (along with my onions & guac) turned it into something a bit magical (I never order hot dogs or brats - always burgers - just thought I'd switch-it-up). It was really satisfying - so my initial impression (that it was small) really was inconsequential. Fries (both types) were perfect. The only suggestion I have is that I would love if they offered onion rings (they have them on one of their burgers) as a choice instead of their fries. Evidently, I have a thing about onions. :-) Delivery was via Grubhub (we use them all the time, anyway) and they were here promptly, food was still hot (which is saying a lot, let me tell you!) No doubt an excellent place for vegan American food -- good ol' burgers, hot dogs, and fries + more. My only complaint is that burgers don't come as a meal. Everything is a la carte. You have to purchase fries or tots and other sides and that can make your bill add up pretty quickly. Overall, it was pricey, but that's what happens when you go out to eat quality and hip vegan food. The Garden Style Grilled Chz was good, but I wouldn't get it again. I'm no chef, but I'm confident I could make a bigger and better grilled "cheese" sandwich at home for less money. Same with the tots. I could get a whole big bag of tots and put them in the oven for the same price that I pay for a little tray. Of course, you pay for the experience and service. Customer service was super rad. Clean and quick. Portion size was small. I've got a big appetite so it left me wanting more. There was a lady sitting near me that was complaining about how small the gluten-free bun is. The milkshakes are out of this world! The best vegan shakes I've ever had. They are thick and creamy and really hit the spot. I'm allergic to coconut, so I am so grateful that I can get cashew-based "ice cream" in my shake. Haven't tried their burgers or fries, but I was so excited to discover a vegan burger joint. As an ethical vegan, I'm not fond of plant-based protein products that try to imitate flesh food. I'm glad to see that plant-based "meats" are proliferating, but they gross me out. I was happy to discover that one type of burger they offer is more classical vegan cuisine: designed to taste like what it is. I'm looking forward to trying that soon. I freaking love NLB. I have nothing but the biggest LOVE for NLB. Their spicy fries I could literally eat EVERY day of my life (except for the calories I suppose) and their burgers are all SO damn good. Let's not forget the "seasonal" milkshakes like peppermint around the winter holidays, and "strawberries and cream" during the summer. That milkshake is SO good (the strawberries and cream) that they should make an icecream and sell it. It literally melts in your mouth and is SO jam packed with flavor. If you put it on a piece of white cake, or vanilla cake, or cupcake, you'd have strawberry shortcake, but vegan. And phenomenal. The employees here are ALWAYS so friendly and attentive. I have never had a bad meal, and on the few occasions something wasn't right, they fixed it RIGHT away. EVERY item is plant based, which is abundantly clear EVERYWHERE they market...like the wall mural, the large menu, their website and all their social media. I originally discovered this restaurant chain while over in Bend. I then learned there was one in the Hawthorne District and while I visit both of those as time permits. It was great to discover one near by. Located within the new 365 by Whole Foods Market, a great addition just off of Hwy 43 in Lake Oswego. Same tasty food and I found out they will make any sandwich with any "meatless" patty of your choosing. I try to avoid soy so they have a quinoa patty which was good and I paired it with the special sauce burger and sweet potato fries. Ohhh so good. I will definitely be back again. Wow, just wow! I started a new job last month which is within their delivery range and I can't lie, I've bought me and my kids lunch there ar least 2x a week! It is always fresh, good portions and friendly staff the one time they forgot my shake! My kids are obsessed with their fries, they say the best they have ever had. The cheese melted in your mouth, they had multiple options for burgers and the shakes were thick and delicious. Kinda sucks it's in a cramped space so parking isn't easy... I've been really impressed with everything I've ordered here! Always packed full of flavor. They also get the texture right- for not being a real burger, it seems pretty dang close. The one pit fall to that would be the bacon- definitely not bacon like, but still very tasty! I really like the wide variety of sauce options.
