I'd like to start by saying- Go Here! You won't regret it.
Why? Well, let me share my experience.
------------------------------------------------
About a year ago, I was looking for a location that would be willing to shave my head. I had long hair, nearly touching my butt.
I'm not new to short hair, I tend to cut my hair super short and keep it short for a few years before growing it out way long again. My hair grows really fast.
I ultimately went to a chain (great clips location in north florida) to do the initial buzz.
However- for shaping, I contacted Next Level.
Now, I read reviews stating that this establishment was a primarily spanish-speaking barber shop, but that proved to not be an issue at all.
------------------------------------------------
The phone call was answered promptly, by an individual who introduced himself as Angel. I later found out he is the owner.
My first question was "do you do women" & Angel responded w/ "do we cut women's hair? Yes! we have both a barber shop and a salon".
I explained my experience w/ being unable to find a local shop that would be willing to take a female client, & I'd like some shaping, possibly buzzing or doing an extreme fade from a buzz to much fuller. Looking for someone willing to use clippers/trimmers at like 3inches and then taper down to 3/4inch or shorter for my fade in the back. I explained that I knew what I was asking was not a traditionally "female" hair cut, but I prefer the attention to detail that barbers often show when working w/ short styles vs stylists that primarily work w/ coloring, & longer styles.
Angel told me to come on down & "if you're paying it doesn't matter if you're male or female".
He introduced me to Leo (pronounced Lay-Oh) & described what I'd asked for over the phone in English to him in Spanish & Leo took his time to make sure in every step that I was okay w/ what he was cutting.
When Leo was done, he made sure to brush everything well & use the hair dryer on a cool setting to blow off the excess trimmed hair that scattered everywhere. Very grateful for the attention to detail.
I left very happy with my hair. I was wowed that it went so well. I paid $45.
------------------------------------------------
A few weeks later, I'm back to the barber shop, (because my hair grows very quickly) and I'm introduced to Johan (I might be spelling his name wrong, but phonetically, I believe that's his name: Yo-hahn).
This time, I wanted different shaping, & provided a photo. Johan took his time to ensure each step of the way he was headed in the right direction. Once he was done, he styled my hair to make sure I liked it. 10/10
------------------------------------------------
The next time I met w/ Johan again & I loved the results.
This shop is clean, kind, & has excellent customer service. 100/10
------------------------------------------------
I've now been back several times since my last with Johan and I haven't seen him in there any longer- however the most recent person to do my hair is named Geo.
He (Geo) is incredibly talented (as all of the barbers are that I work with) and pays very close attention to details. He checks in with me often. Looks at my picture for reference and then styles it afterwards.
When I don't know how to say something in Spanish or Geo doesn't know how to say something in English we resort to using google translate on my phone and he's super patient with me. I really appreciate everyone's patience. I'm super picky when it comes to my hair and I change what I like often- they make sure I'm happy before leaving. It's there care and attention to every detail that makes this place worth every penny spent here.
I'm always grateful for the cleaning up of the edges and the blow drying afterwards to get additional hair off of me.
My only hope is that my gratuity shows my appreciation each time I'm in there. read more
