I made the mistake of recently going to Next one Saturday and unbeknown to me it was the start of the Next Sale. Now for those who are unaware of the infamous 'Next Sale Festival', let me break it down for you.
Imagine the stampede scene in the Lion King or Jumanji, only except the animals are a bunch of old women who would steal the clothes from you in the changing rooms. It is pretty much as close to a fashion-concious re-enactment of the American Civil War as you are going to get anywhere in the world.
If you have the unfortunate displeasure of finding yourself within the stampede, do what Simba did and run away,
However during the non-sale periods Next is quite a relaxing place to shop. It has a large selection of men, women and even children's clothes so you could spoil all the family (if you really like them that much).
The clothes are trendy, up to date and "chic" (I don't what that is but I heard Trinny and Susannah say it once and because both of them look like a couple of WWE wrestlers, I'll use it too).
The price tag is a bit of a kick in the face, a tad expensive if you're a student, but if you need something respectable that won't collapse in the washing machine, then Next is a good shout.
Being located in Boucher Road gives the advantage of a right bit of car-parking (unless of course the stampede is on in which case you should bring a packed lunch and a deck chair and watch from a tower). read more
