TLDR: The overall experience felt less like personalized medical weight management and more like a very expensive timeshare presentation with illiterate and excessive intake forms, a 15 minute in-room PR video, and "customized plans" of powder packet "meal replacements" ---- I paid $125 for one appointment: a $45 copay, $48 to stand on an ancient-looking body composition scale, and $32 for a small box of tiny powder "meals" that tasted like tortilla-soup-flavored bathwater and left me immediately hungry. The intake materials and texts were excessive, outdated, and full of typos. just one example is the appointment reminder text said patients are required to wear masks, which--in 2026--i thought odd, and sure enough, not one mask was in sight; how have they not updated their text notification since Covid?? Whoever put the paperwork together is not fluent in English and lacks basic word processing skills. A week before my appointment, I had to fill out a set of intake forms that had a ton of typos, many repeated questions, and dedicated space for 35 medications, requiring infinite scrolling to proceed. I had to fill out another set of intake forms the day of my appointment with even more typos. They also call and text from several different numbers. Why?? When I got there right on time for my appointment, the front desk person was helping another patient for 15 minutes before she acknowledged me, another patient who got there before me, and another patient on the other side of the counter trying to buy products. After about 20 mins, I finally go back to an exam room and was left there to watch a 15 minute video sales pitch of outdated looking slides with the doctor's voiceover!! Then the med assistant came back and presented a ridiculous packet of paperwork which she read to me word by word and highlighted almost every word on each page with a pink marker. She told me weekly Zoom meetings are REQUIRED and vaguely described meal replacement packages. It was all weird as hell and I felt like I was at a timeshare presentation. Then a nutritionist came in. She launched into generic Diet Culture 101 without ever asking me about my nutrition and exercise habits. She was kind and knowledgeable, but I've been dieting and exercising since the 90s and don't need CICO and "starvation mode" explained to me. I tell her the various things I've tried and asked her what if the plan doesn't work, because I have tried everything to lose weight and it never works. She said she can't control what I do or eat, but she can try to hold me accountable. To me this felt like she hadn't believed me when I said I eat very well, not too much, watch my macros, and exercise daily already. The doctor was ok, but spent less than 2 minutes with me. Then I agreed to the body comp machine. I've used one before at a naturopathic office and it was super cool so I agreed. This machine was not high-tech at all. It was incredibly outdated and I highly doubt there's any accuracy to the results. Why on earth did I pay $45 for this?? I'm supposed to get labs and come back in two weeks for my customized plan which might include prescription weight loss medication. They do bill insurance but I've been hearing all over that insurance is simply not covering weight loss meds unless you're on Medicare. Back at the front desk, the girl was still overwhelmed with lots of competing patients, but she took time to help me put together a box of powdered packets (I have no idea why I gave into this after seeing they are tiny things of powder ! I thought they must be really innovative. I ate one as soon as I got home and it was disgusting!) She asked if she could text me my lab order which I agreed to. She never did. read more

My overall experience was subpar. I was referred by another office to come see the provider here. My first interaction with the staff was great and quickly got worse over the span of a week. The front desk receptionist as well as the insurance coordinator were extremely rude. I ended up not getting seen by provider. I'm sure she's great but my first interactions with the rest of the staff made me not want to be seen here. read more

They Doctor seems nice enough but their billing department and appointment staff are atrocious. I checked to make sure I wouldn't have any copay and even called my insurance. They refused to see my wife unless she paid. When we verified the same day with the insurance company they told me they'd give us a refund. A week later and the woman on the phone tells me we owed the copay but she would check with billing. They refuse to let you talk to anyone else and just tell you billing will call you. They never do. You'll waste your money going here. They are thieves. read more

This is the best weight-loss program. The support you get from the staff is like no other support you will ever receive. They genuinely care about you and your needs. All programs accustomed to the individual because there is no one size fits all program I started this weight-loss journey not being able to walk to the mailbox. I now walk 3 miles a day You learn how to eat properly, and why skipping meals is not a good idea. You learn about eating out in restaurants you learn, why sleep is so important getting the weight off. There is also a group meeting which is conducted via Zoom, where you can talk about your achievements and goals, but also maybe problem solved with what is not working for you and other people can tell you maybe what has worked for them. This just the start of your weight loss journey maintaining it is going to be your lifelong challenge. And once you get to your goal weight, they follow you and help you for three years after. In just over 3 months I'm down 50 pounds. No shots no medicine just 2 meal replacements 2 cooked meals and a snack a day. My exercise habits aren't the best but I try! My knees already feel better I feel better. read more

A little over half a year later- I've had to make the decision to stop this program. Partially due to the clinic, but also circumstances beyond. This program DOES work for many! I think it is wonderful & a great option for those who qualify. Unfortunately my case is too severe with an underlying issue. But, even if that were not the main reason I cannot continue the program, there are some things that need improvement. First, it became a repetitive issue, the doctor being consistently late to every appointment I had scheduled. I purposefully aim for earliest in the morning because I work full time- traffic is always an issue, but that was apparently the reason I was stuck waiting 30-45min beyond my scheduled appointment to be seen, every single appointment. One or two times is understandable, but literally EVERY time is unreasonable when I also have to take time off work! I also found it more of a time sucker & money grab to be coming in every 3 weeks just for 15 minutes when absolutely nothing changed. I asked for virtual appointments but was not offered. The same questions were asked & I was told the same thing literally every appointment- even making 0 progress. The follow up was always the same. No one batted an eye I had lost 0 in 6 months but actually gained. Medications were suggested. But, pointless when there's a shortage & obtaining was either impossible or having to fork out $1K (even with insurance). The 2 months I was actually able to use the medication, it did nothing but cause side effects. And that leads to the the main reason I have to stop the program. I'll give credit to the ounce of concern about elevated labs initially. She had me on a specific plan to address those concerns- but never followed up with additional labs. 6 months down the road I'm told by my PCP I have stage 3 kidney disease. The entire reason a weight loss program will NOT work for me! It's odd I had labs done when I started the program- it would have shown the same thing if it was undiagnosed & the entire reason for my weight gain/condition. So, at this point I'm left torn but also very disappointed. Yes, these are good doctors who specialize in weight loss/management. But, at what cost? Because no one noticed a pattern or raised the necessary red flags. I feel like I could have continued to go back & keep paying with no progress being made, on a program actually working against me, and it could have had some dire consequences. Because if the focus is weight loss & in 6 months not a pound is lost, but actually gained, following the program to a T: that should be a concern to REALLY look at with a patient. This program is very expensive & takes some serious dedication/commitment. I expect the same from a practitioner I'm paying for the expert services, but I don't feel like I got that here. It wasn't really designed or geared towards my individual, personal needs or body. And the reason I'm having to stop really emphasizes that. I was a potential patient for this weight loss clinic but decided against receiving their services for many reasons. Firstly they don't answer their phone. No one would return my calls when I left two separate voicemails on two separate days. Then when they finally did call me back and sent me the links to fill out the online paperwork, on the last page of the paperwork I was asked to choose between paying out of my own pocket, paying the remainder of what the insurance wouldn't cover, and to only receive services for what my insurance would cover. I was unaware of what my insurance would or would not cover. So I asked if they were able to verify my benefits and they said that was my responsibility. I then asked what services they provide and they would not give me that information. I was told by a very rude and pushy woman on the phone to just come in for my first appointment (which has a copay). At this point I've decided that I didn't want to continue with this practice. This is not the place to go if you want support in nutrition and diet. I needed to drop just 15 pounds and did not get any support. . Frankly this was a cash grab considering the appointment is 80 dollars and the time spent with the Dr. never exceeded 15 minutes and recommended coming each 2 weeks without providing much support. I had high hopes and this place did not deliver! If you are not going to buy their meal plans, they will not provide you with the care needed. I question the 5 star glowing reviews! read more

Went in for first appointment and was greeted by young lady who didn't understand insurance. When she went to back office to get her manager she left all Protected Health Information out in the open for everyone to see, including my own. The manager come out and told me I needed to pay my bill before seeing provider. I told them I would like to have it run through my insurance company first and after I would happily pay but I was there for my first consultation and would prefer to wait since I didn't know if I would return. This again was all out in the open in front of multiple people. I was told no I had to pay so I advised I would find another office. Keep in mind the lady checking in while I was waiting for manager left as well for same thing. The overall appearance of office was very bleak and low budget. The provider business cards and leave behinds we're all "homemade" and looked tacky. Staff was unprofessional and untrained. read more

Prior to my coming to New Viva last November,I had experience with countless ways to lose weight going all the way back to 1964. I had the whole array of pills,starvation,and WW. None of them measured up to New Viva. Every person in the office is friendly and compassionate. The coaches in the office and in Zoom meetings counsel and educate. My experience at the clinic has been a positive experience from the start. I had to start attending the clinic due to having to loose weight before I can have a spinal surgery. It is so easy to put weight on but 3x as hard to take it off. I even have baby fat, that is still hanging out. The office staff is really pleasant, kind and helpful. The Dr and her PA's know their stuff!! they have helped me with questions and problems that you can encounter while on the program. I have been dealing with a lot of varying medical issues since adulthood. As a result, I am on a lot of meds and deal with tremendous chronic pain.
