Before I had even left Miami to return home it was very clear to me that It was essential that I continue my recovery back here in Charlotte. Before I knew it I found myself on the phone with a Lovely Lady by the name of Judy. She took care of everything, and the very next morning after touching down back in Charlotte I was welcomed with open arms into Blanchard. As with any recovery there are ups and there are downs; There are emotions and feelings I can not even begin to explain! Everyone here at Blanchard made me feel like family even when we had our moments and we were not seeing eye to eye. We ultimately worked it out and I could not be More Thankful to everyone involved in my recovery here at The Blanchard Institute! Ward, Ali, Judy thank you so much for what you do and thank you for caring about me! I have learned many things this past year. Perhaps the most important thing I have taken from my Journey is.. When You have the Willingness to make this change in your life You are doing it for Yourself, you are doing it for the people that love and care about you and you are doing it for the people you don't even know that will be forever changed by hearing your story! God Bless

Our experience with Blanchard was very disappointing and, in my opinion, misleading when it comes…read moreto mental health. My partner was struggling with trauma-related psychotic episodes and alcohol use. During intake, both she and I stressed her mental health needs -- yet she was placed in IOP 3 for substance abuse only. For three weeks she attended every session, but there was little to no support for her underlying mental health. They mentioned GeneSight testing to evaluate her medications, but it never happened. She also received no coping tools for her trauma or racing thoughts. When she inevitably hit a trigger and drank at home, she was told the only option was to step up from 9 hours a week to 35 hours a week of substance abuse treatment (PHP). When we asked about switching her to the mental health track -- which is what we thought she had originally been assigned to -- we were told it wasn't possible. The director of the mental health program himself sat in on one meeting, dismissed our concerns, and gave us the line: "The only disease that tells you that you don't have a disease is alcoholism." But it wasn't only my partner questioning the placement -- it was me, the person who spends the most time with her. Still, there was no flexibility. After days of pushing, the director of the substance abuse program finally admitted their mental health program was "very new" and only taking extreme cases (like schizophrenia). That was never explained to us during intake or the first three weeks. Instead, we were told she must either attend PHP substance abuse full time or leave. She left, and Blanchard still billed us for 12 weeks even though she only attended three. The aftermath was devastating. She spiraled, drinking heavily every day. We had to start over from scratch -- found her a psychiatrist who immediately ordered GeneSight testing (which showed her antidepressant was a poor fit), and connected her with two therapists (IFS and EMDR). With that proper support, she is now thriving: biking 10-20 miles daily, working again, and feeling better than she ever has. I wasn't going to write this review, but after emailing the directors directly and receiving no response, I feel it's important for others to know: if you are looking for real mental health care, Blanchard is not the place. Their substance abuse program may work well for many, but their so-called "mental health program" was not at all what was advertised -- and in our case, it nearly cost my partner her life.

I wish we could have convinced our son to do it years ago. Unfortunately, our son ended his life at age 40 when he lost his battle with mental illness. His brain was so very sick for so long that we were unable to help him. We thought our grief would keep us in our dark tunnel of depression for the rest of our lives. I'm so thankful we reached out for help. Neurofeedback healed our brains and helped us to see that there is transformation after trauma, and now we take time to talk to others about the extreme value of this therapy for us. After a few months of doing neurofeedback, we also did talk therapy with a psychologist who specialized in trauma. We weren't ready to talk at first, but helping to heal my mental issues through this brain therapy enabled me to function more clearly. I no longer had the intense physical and emotional symptoms that made each day difficult to face. Everything felt calmer, and we could sleep at night! My husband and I still deeply miss our son everyday, but now can share our feelings with each other and others too. Even though our last therapy session ended last year, we still see positive changes in our personalities--meaning the negative emotions of anxiety, and depression associated with our grief, feel less overwhelming and intense, and are shorter, and less often than before. I'm able to actually write this review to you!!! Since doing neurofeedback, we have also had some additional family challenges as life will bring, and we have been able to weather the storm better than we ever had before, and to feel able to help loved ones effectively, yet manage our own emotions. The brain healing has stayed with us. No matter what your challenges, I urge you to put yourself and your brain first so that you can be better everyday. Bio and neurofeedback are easy non-invasive ways of regaining your peace and confidence. Not all centers are well-equipped with the best possible technology and equipment through the country. We were so fortunate to have the one of the country's BEST centers right here in Charlotte and Davidson! Thank you!!!

They…read morerefuse to take responsibility for their serious mistakes and gaslight me whenever I confront them. The latest incident involved their failure to notify me when my mom fell at the facility. They sent her to the ER and had a contracted after-hours medical service call me from an 1800 number at 6:48 AM. This provider didn't inform me to look out for such a number in emergencies, so even if I had been awake, I wouldn't have known to answer. The Optum service team admitted they couldn't provide a specific number because calls come from various numbers. The facility claims Optum acts as their extension, while Optum says they aren't employees of the agency and that their relationship with the facility does not stop the facility nursing staff (staff in general) from contacting me directly. My mom has been at this facility for years, and they have always called me in the past when she fell or needed to go to the hospital, not the contracted Providers. From what I understand ( by research) this appears to be a state and federal violation. The bottom line is that my confused elderly mom was sent to the ER without my knowledge, and I only discovered it the next day when I noticed a wristband on her. She told me she asked the nursing home to call me, but they didn't. The facility continues to avoid accountability, as usual. I requested their grievance policy and form to file a complaint but was denied. Their regional Director decided he would not afford me this right and had the form completed by their Administration, not reflecting my chief complaint. I've received conflicting answers from the facility and the State Rep responsible for holding them accountable. This has been an ongoing battle just to protect my mom's rights and not be bullied by Administration (ignoring me many times, dismissing my concerns and gaslighting me) there because I am advocating for her.
