Went with Shunk as it is local and they are supposed to be the best in the area, family owned,…read morequality furniture. I bought a 5000.00 + couch. Customer service was great for the sale and assured me this couch is quality. 9 months later the springs start squawking and then later it's hard as a rock. I called for service. They took my message and said someone would call to schedule. They appeared unannounced and tried to take my couch. I told them I did not want to go without it (it took forever to come in when I bought it). They left and said they would come back and fix it here. Someone would call to schedule. They actually called to schedule but took my couch giving me no indication this is what was happening. I called the manager, Sarah, who interrupted me before I could explain anything and told me "we just need to bring it in to see what's wrong with it, we can't do it there" I asked her to at least hear my concerns as I have been inconvenienced. I asked her what if I had people coming over? I was not very polite, because of the poor communication. In her response, she told me that she didn't believe that anybody promised that they would fix the couch in the house, as if I was lying, also told me that I demanded it. So I guess the moral of the story is is once you buy the couch if there's any issues, expect a shit show and then to be insulted by the manager when you call to complain

I purchased two sofas from this store and regret this decision…read more The original customer service was great, probably because they were making a sale. Once the couch arrived broken however, that is when the trouble started. They went good on repairing it for free (as they should, we notified them very promptly of the issue. It absolutely arrived broken on the bottom mechanism). We live 60 miles away so they came to us. They were not equipped to fix it on site and had to take back 1/2 of the couch. So we have been living with 1/2 a couch for over 3 weeks now because they refuse to redeliver until they have a full truck for my area. So after you purchase, if you have issues, good luck getting someone to care about helping you! The people working at this store have been so incredibly rude and unwilling to help. They are "doing their best" but if doing their best means not providing answers, not calling back when they state they would, and hanging up on someone, then their best isnt that great! It is not our fault the couch came broken! We did not ask for this! The customer service is what broke the entire situation - had they even apologized for it coming broken, which isnt their fault either!, maybe we would feel differently. But right away they attempted to blame us for the issue and were just plain rude. I would be embarrassed to have an employee speak to customers the way they have.

I purchased several thousand dollars' worth of furniture recently, including a couch with a queen…read moresized pullout bed. The delivery was tight but manageable. They took off two legs before moving the couch. I politely suggested that they remove all four legs, but was ignored. While going through the last doorway at the top of the stairs, the delivery person holding the upper end of the couch got sweat in his eyes. I was standing where I could see everything that happened. Rather than endure the stinging eyes, he decided to step out from under the couch and let it drop. One of the legs not removed took a chunk out of the wall and left a significant stripe down it. The bed did not work properly after the 6 foot tumble. The replacement bed took many weeks to arrive. I emailed them pictures of the damage. Karl Shunk refused to pay for the repair. He insisted that his delivery people know how to repair walls and that they would do it themselves. I own a valuable historic building listed on the National register of historic places. It has real plaster. I am not about to let a furniture delivery person repair what I would not hire a professional drywaller to repair. I have decades of experience repairing old buildings and wanted to do it myself because I am fairly expert at the repair of old plaster. I patched the wall and painted. The total cost of materials was over $100, not even counting the hours to patch, wash and apply the paint. They knew I had purchased the furniture to turn an apartment into a short term vacation rental. They also knew that if the venture goes well, I will have several more units to furnish. In spite of this they refused to do the right thing. Steer clear of these people. They have no honor.
