We ordered a couple of boards and a few bottles of wine. The boards were good, but not quite filling enough for a full dinner for our group. The bartender was also serving tables, so service was a bit limited and we often had to get up and go to the bar since check-ins at the table were infrequent. Our table was also on the smaller side, which made it a little crowded once the wine and boards arrived. That said, we would absolutely go back -- especially as a date night spot for just the two of us to enjoy a glass of wine and a board as an appetizer while listening to live music.

My daughters loved the cucumber sandwiches--they tasted fresh and crisp. The ham and provolone had a mustard spread they didn't care for, and the bread was a little on the stale side. That said, the presentation on the two-tier platter was undeniably cute. Honestly though, the real win here is the vibe. It somehow blends traditional afternoon tea with hip coffee shop energy and just a hint of speakeasy moodiness. The "bar" lined with loose leaf teas instead of liquor bottles was such a fun touch (though yes, they do serve alcohol too if that's your thing). We sat in one of the window alcoves, which felt semi-private and made the whole outing with my daughters feel a little extra special. And the floor-to-ceiling bookshelf? Chef's kiss. Our server was attentive and cheerful, and mentioned they offer a full high tea once a month--which apparently sells out in five minutes (not surprising). But honestly, the mini tea (available Fridays and Saturdays) was just right for us.

If I could give zero stars I would. I use to love Newks but I will never go to this location again. A family member purchased a meal that I was picking up on the way to visit with my family. The order was placed online curbside when I arrived there was very poor directions on how curbside worked at that location. I called the store 4 times trying to find directions and no one picked up. Being a mom of a little one curbside is important. I finally got frustrated and went in and they were not busy at all the 2 girls working the to go area were standing there doing nothing. When I explained to them the situation they did not offer an apology or explanation they simply pointed and said your order is over there. It was a large order and I had my toddler on my hip they just stood there staring at me and offering no help. When I made a comment of someone maybe helping me they pointed to where the drink carriers were. I had 2 drink a large bag of food and a toddler. I have worked for several years in several areas of customer service and I am astonished by the lack of care by the staff. It's pretty embarrassing for a business when another customer in the restaurant offers help before an employee. When my family member called to speak to the manager the manager was very argumentative and rude and told us that it was all our fault. I have never before experienced this lack of customer service. I will be encouraging family and friends to stay away from this location because nobody should have to experience the lack of customer service. read more

Okay, so Newk's just opened up last Tuesday in the Publix shopping center on 23rd St. We tried it the day they opened and I ordered the steak sandwich. Ugh... it wasn't very good. My son had the kids' pizza, which comes on french bread. I would have liked that, but it didn't look like a pizza to him, so he didnt care for it. But today we went back- Wow, I had their Newk's favorite salad. It was excellent! My husband had their Ultimate Salad. These salads were huge, too big for one meal. And they were fabulous! My husband said that they are the best salads in Bay County. We will definitely be going back for the salad. For sandwiches I prefer Firehouse, which is right next door. read more

With its order-at-the-counter and find-a-seat setup, this fit the bill perfectly for my family. The restaurant itself had a clean and casual vibe, with high ceilings, warm wooden accents, a mix of high-top and standard tables, and scenic Mediterranean photography lining a white stone-textured wall. The blue chairs and light wood elements throughout gave it a Greek atmosphere that felt family-friendly. For lunch on this day I ended up ordering the grilled chicken gyro minus tomatoes and got the fresh-cut fruit as my side. My wife ordered the chicken basil-pesto pita with tomato cucumber salad, and we got our twins a grilled cheese pita with fresh-cut fruit. Our food came out within ten minutes of ordering and looked pretty good. Personally, all I ended up eating here was the grilled chicken gyro. I thought that both the pita and the tzatziki sauce were good, and the chicken was seasoned nicely. However, I did feel that my sandwich was a bit on the dry side and that it could have used a bit more tzatziki. My wife enjoyed her pita as well, especially the basil pesto. Finally, my kids each ate half of the grilled cheese pita, most of the fresh fruits, and pretty much all of my wife and my chips. Since they can be picky eaters I would definitely consider that a success. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. My whole family enjoyed our food and I thought it was reasonably priced, so why not.
