For the third time now I have had mail waiting in the post office and no one has bothered to alert…read moreme that It's there. Only after the 18 day holding period will they let me know that my mail has been sent back to the sender. My birthday was in October. It is now December. They has returned and sent back my mail 3 times. This service is unorganised, and frankly, lazy. The woman behind the desk was extremely unhelpful, and very unsympathetic, as though it was my fault for even having mail in the first place. Very unorganised.

It's not that small, a good neighbourhood size post office that is. The staff here are always super friendly, especially the ones who man the cashier on your right as you enter, from which you can purchase anything from the store as well as stamps if you don't want to que for the post office clerks. There are cards- the average of any post office as well as useful folders etc. I can't exactly say I am a fan of any post office, but this one is surely a good one.

This is a family run post office by all accounts and there are generally two or three guys behind the counter, although usually only one is serving. The service can be quite slow depending on which staff member serves you but the staff are friendly enough. I wouldn't wish to visit for anything too complicated, however, and it is likely that this branch is too small to deal with things like Car Tax, etc. However, this branch was one of the ones recently saved from closure and so it is important to use it in order to justify this decision.

They are very friendly and helpful and when…read morea box that I was sending overseas was 2cm too big for one price bracket (and would have cost me £15 more) they sold me tape and leant me scissors so that I could cut the box down smaller. They don't do passports, drivers licences or any other fancy stuff but they do do sending things in the post. They never have that big a queue and seem to know most of the regulars who use the post office. They also sell some birthday cards, wrapping paper and all sorts of different sizes of boxes.

Edinburgh was no exception and we trekked over to this post office about a 7 minute walk away from our Doubletree Hotel just to get it stamped. That turned out to be very close and convenient. The post card is always easy, the postage not always so in some locations. This post office may or may not be typical, but it was busy with customers, and crowded in a tight space with a lot of stationary and utility supplies, and there were two clerks, one at each of the two counters. Our clerk was an affable guy. The post card postage back to the US was 3.2 GBP - yikes!, but whatever. They got the job done for us and that's an a-ok rating from me. Thank you!

If I could leave negative stars I would…read more This morning I received a parcel looking very familiar to me - turns out I had posted it 4 days prior to this as an Etsy order. The teller at the till had entered MY details on the listed "sender" address on the parcel and not the very clearly marked "deliver to". Upon arrival and seeing the mistake (made only by the post office) I promptly headed to the post office to resend my parcel. I explained what had happened to the teller, he looked at me as if I was from mars and just stared at the parcel, not understanding their glaringly obvious error. The tellers colleague took the parcel (and my proof of receipt) and said she would deal with it. The teller in question has served me many times before and is equally charming as she is rude and obnoxious. Instead of an apology and telling me they would fix the mistake free of charge, the woman grunted at me for not positioning the labels in the correct direction on said parcel. I responded by asking how is it my responsibility for them to read "deliver to" and "sender" when that is literally their job!! I was told it was human error, but also the computer cannot read the label - so its machines AND customers who are at fault for this. "The computer says no." I explained that this was an Etsy order and I will now be penalised for their mistake. I also acknowledged that I understand human error happens, but a simple apology for the mistake would go a long way - radio silence. I am disgusted by the way I was treated for a situation this post office put me in and took zero accountability for their own mistake. AVOID. Horrible, awful people.

A friendly-ish local Post Office, with a surprisingly good range of stock that encompasses mags,…read moresnacks and a few household goods to piles of tourist tat, a surprising choice as it's not in a hugely touristy area. Queues are large as you'd expect, and if you're sending anything of value you need to accept it will almost certainly be lost, damaged, or most likely stolen by the morally empty, alcoholic postman, but that's life.
