New Jersey's major airport is often considered the third-largest public airport in the tri-state area, after JFK and LGA. We came in the evening, and leaving was smooth. However, when we leave it, it's super difficult! Terminal A isn't available for drop off, due to construction. We have to take the airtrain from Terminal B, then walk 12 minutes or take the 4-minute bus. The system costs $3.5 billion to build?! The security control is a joke. The TSA Pre-Check and Clear are not obvious. And it's the first time my little ball pen has been questioned. Seriously? Seriously! Charging outlets don't work at the gate. The bathroom has a line. UA lounge is full and closed to One-Time pass holders, which is what I've "read the fine print" and what the staff said rudely. Hmmmm... any time when someone reminds you to read the fine print, it's usually a good sign that you never have to deal with them again. ... a.k.a. "I hid the trap in plain sight, and now I'm going to use it to get out of holdin up my end of the deal." Less of a fair contract and more like A legal ambush. This is my first time using ewr, and it will be the last. Thank you.
Located 15 miles southwest of Midtown Manhattan, Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) is one of the primary airports serving the New York City region and a major international hub. It provides access to thirty major airlines. Each year, over 42 million passengers fly out from here. Last week, my partner and I left out of Terminal A, which was a brand-new, state-of-the-art terminal with 29 gates designated for domestic and regional flights via JetBlue. This was a repeat performance after 3 years for me but a first time for my partner. Once one clears security, you'll be on the upper level of the central plaza area, with expansive views of the departure hall. From the soaring ceilings to the plethora of natural light to the eye-catching artwork, the new terminal is simply stunning. Despite airports across the country facing long TSA checkpoints amid the partial government shutdown with spring break increasing travel across the country, we arrived very early, and it was manageable. Check the bottom of the Newark Airport's homepage; there is a section titled "Security & Customs Wait Times," which lists estimated wait times for general and TSA pre-check-in lines.
Very impressed with this airport! I heard terminal A was a newly renovated terminal, and they did a great job. Everything felt modern, clean, and very easy to move around. One thing I really appreciated was having the luggage weight scales available before going to the check-in counter, it made it so convenient to adjust and distribute the weight between bags ahead of time. Small details like that make traveling much easier. I also liked that there's a Starbucks inside that sells brownies, and they even had a trophy on display, which was a nice little surprise while walking around. Overall, a great airport experience!
Airport is too big for an older person but they have great elderly Service with very nice people to take you from you flight to your connecting flight or to baggage claim. The rail system is not great. Very bumpy and rough ride but what would you expect. The terminal is very nice. Open and spaciousand very clean. The prices are astronomical. One sweat shirt for the FIFA playoffs is $90.00 bucks. Yikes
I actually came to Terminal A by accident because I was flying United and I didn't realize that I was supposed to go to Terminal C instead. Personally, I enjoyed going this way because the lines happened to be faster and the amenities were even better here. On top of that, the staff here told me that they had a shuttle after going through security that would take me to Terminal C. I'm only giving it four stars because the people at the TSA were really rude! This place is really modern and Crystal Clean all around. They had a meditation room which I thought was pretty cool. Restaurants were top notch, the restaurants and convenience stores were very nice too! Getting to the transfer station was very easy too after going through security. I don't know when I will actually fly out of Terminal A but I would happily come back here if I could.
So clean and bright! I had a longish layover so I was able to walk around and experience all the new details they have added. They did a great job. Everything is immaculate and signs make it easy to navigate. They don't get a 5 because the limited food/shop options n no lounges which I hope more are coming.
Terminal A was much nicer than expected: security was pretty organized, varied options for good and drink, lots of space to walk around, plus plenty of places to sit, people watch, or charge your devices. The decor was also updated and pleasing to the senses, especially in comparison to some other airports. Only complaint is the rising cost of getting an uber/lyft but this isn't relegated to airport travel.

I recently flew JetBlue out of Newark's new Terminal A on my way from New Jersey to Orlando for a SpringTime Surprise weekend, and overall it was a really positive experience! I started my trip with an Uber from Manhattan's Financial District to Newark. I left earlier than I probably needed to because I was expecting the usual New York/New Jersey traffic, but the ride was surprisingly smooth. Once I arrived at Terminal A, I noticed the terminal was very modern and spacious. If you've flown through the older Newark terminals, it's completely different! The terminal is bright, clean, and easy to navigate! Security moved much faster than I expected! There was also plenty of signage throughout the terminal! I never felt like I was searching for my gate. The seating areas were comfortable, with lots of charging stations available! Boarding with JetBlue was organized, quick, and easy, especially for a late night flight leaving to Orlando! The gate area had plenty of seating! The staff were friendly throughout the process as well which was awesome! Once onboard, the flight to Orlando was smooth and comfortable! Flying JetBlue out of Newark, Terminal A is a huge upgrade and one of the nicest domestic terminals I've traveled through recently. read more

I have seen many airports and terminals. This one is one of the better ones, in fact it is pretty good. New modern, well-lit, nice stores and amenities. I always like coming here. If they would institute priority security - this would make it a 5-star review....hint hint read more

Grateful for another stress free and efficient processing today at Newark Terminal A! Airport clean. Plenty of clean restrooms! Love the art installations and all the highlights of the beautiful and unique Jersey people and locations!! Let the adventure begin!! read more

Terminal A is very clean and organized. We went thru TSA/Clear+ under 5 mins. Many restaurants and stores along the walk to your gates. Plenty of seats for travelers. They also have a kids play zone which is a huge plus for family with small kids. read more

Airport is too big for an older person but they have great elderly Service with very nice people to take you from you flight to your connecting flight or to baggage claim. Terminal A is located in the Newark airport. It has quite a few nice shopping opportunities and restaurants. There is a shuttle and/or AirBus that will take you there. Or if your planes leaves from this Terminal, you can enjoy the shops. read more

Again all other airlines are open my flight is at 6 am got here 3 am for international flight and it's 4 am and NO employees. This seems the norm for Delta used then 3 times in the last 18 months and early morning is hurry up and wait again read more

A very clean and organized terminal. It's shaped like a triangle, so you just need to pay attention to signage when trying to find your gate. They have decent food options and the restrooms are clean. The holiday decorations that they had were a cute touch and made it feel very welcoming. read more

I've flown at the newer terminal a a few times. I'm glad that they've revamped it because it needed a facelift. This terminal has a lot of shops, restaurants, and a water filling station. The bathrooms were clean, there were a lot of seating areas and places to charge your electronics. We flew JetBlue and I didn't see any lounges, but I believe that United has one in this terminal. When arriving and then heading out to ground transportation, there are a lot of signs on the outside that easily direct your ride to getting you, but they definitely need to add their proper passenger pick up signs on the inside to make it easier for the travelers too. All in all, it's looking great and I wouldn't mind flying out of terminal a again. read more
Bottom line: Wow. Just wow. The new Terminal A at EWR is pretty darn impressive in itself but in comparison with older experiences through Terminal C, it's superlative. Signage can be a bit subtle in the Departures area. Staff encountered was helpful and positive. I like flying into/out of this part of EWR! The Deets: In my recent trip that had me flying into EWR, I flew into and then out of the new revamped Terminal A there at Newark Airport. I was a bit surprised as when I usually fly United into EWR, you can usually count on being at Terminal C. Not so this time, and wow, what a change! This new Terminal A is like day/night compared to the old Terminal C I had been accustomed to using here. Terminal A is...nice...new...spiffy...bright...clean...I dare say, more impressive as well as decidedly more modern than Terminal C I've used in the past. The only suggestion/point I'd raise is the signage needs to be more prominent when coming into the Departures area. I get it may appear more sleek if the signage is not so "in your face" but here, I think it is needed. Notably the staff along the areas I encountered were very helpful, delightfully as well as surprisingly so. TSA/CLEAR went very well, great flow, low stress. I liked the experiences here at the new Terminal A EWR and hope future flights have me going through here in the future. read more

My forst time flying and I had to leave out of the Newark airport. I have kept hearing that newark had many delays when trying to leave from this airport but i felt the process go very smoothly. I got in and was able to get my bag checked with no issue. Then getting in line to get into the airport was very long but i didnt stay there for more than 15-20 min. I was so nervous when i get to the check in that i dropped my ID behind the TSA agents desk!!! I was very embarrassed but they were so friendly. After getting scanned i was able to get to my gate easily. This terminal was very clean and set up super pretty. Our flight left 5 minutes late but everything went smoothly. read more

It was actually pretty good! There was no line when I went, so getting through was quick and easy. The terminal itself feels clean, modern, and organized, which made the whole process a lot less stressful. Seating was comfortable, and everything was easy to find. Not the fanciest airport I've been to, but overall a smooth and pleasant experience. read more
This new terminal A is quite convenient and facilities are well maintained, especially the restroom is very clean. The signs to public transportation are clear and organized, which made the ride experience efficient and convenient, and I would like to recommend fly through this terminal if possible. read more

Lots of confusion at this airport between the alarm going constantly off, and the baggage carousel not working. The airport is newly renovated however, there are a lot of homeless people in the airport and no security was present. The airport personnel in the baggage claim area were not very successful and it just seems like lots of confusion since the carousel was not working. The airport seems to have lots of delays and cancellations due to aircraft and controller not being on duty. read more

You know you're in a big airport when you have to take a shuttle between terminals. It's one of the better terminals I've in. I mean, it's feels like all the terminals at LAX are either being repaired or just blocked off. PDX never has a restaurant open early in the morning and SEA is just the worst airport to get when driving. This terminal has plenty of restaurants and places to get a beer at 0700. There is a kids play area and pet relief station. I'm sure parents are thankful it's not the same place. I don't think there are any vending machines because they are a ton and a half of stalls and stores. I swear I must have walked past 20 coffee shops to get to my gate from where the shuttle dropped me off. Overall five stars. Large variety of different seating areas. Plenty of outlets along the seats. And of course, who doesn't want a beer at 0700? M read more

Headed home only to find "everyone" from NYC is coming to Florida for spring break. That said terminal A is the new Newark Terminal. It is very nice with decent seats, food offerings on par with the new LaGuardia airport. The only negative to the terminal is the awful "air train" actually does not quite reach the terminal leaving you to go on a bus from the train or walking. Hopefully the airport will come up with a solution. read more
We arrived at Terminal A on Monday morning for our return flight from Charlotte. The terminal still kept its new and fresh look from the recent renovation. Lots of passengers were in the gates. Most restaurants and shops were open. Our luggage arrived at carousel with 10 minutes of arriving at baggage claim. The traffic wasn't crazy at the exit, our uber made it to pick up zone within few minutes. The waiting booths had heat on, that was very convenient for passengers waiting for their ride. read more
After 9 hours off delays in a flight last night could not imagine being more comfortable than in the long wooden lounge chairs at Newark airport. We camped out there for 4 plus hours and with many shops to buy snacks and water we were set for the long night of travel. read more
What an improvement over the dingy past. The new airport is open and spacious and most importantly all new. The airport still has some issues to resolve. First, you need to take a bus or be in prepared for a long walk to get to the terminal from the airport train. Secondly, the security lines are slow especially the Pre-TSA line. Once they resolve these issues it will be great. read more
Recently visited Terminal A 2 days in a row while traveling for a burial! For me, it's the best of the 3 terminals at Newark. I find the bathrooms are on the small side. Plenty of choices for places to eat, with the usual high airport prices! I'll be passing through again in 6 days! read more

I had to take off a star for this brand new terminal, because I felt that it lacked guidance and direction. Like, point me towards where I need to go. I get it, the terminal is amazing to look at and be engulfed in LED screens everywhere, but I gotta get to my gate! This terminal is like walking into the future, and by the time the future gets here they will need to build a newer one. read more

These new analogic tsa scanners are the bomb! Pun intended! They are shaped like jet engines and allow me to get thru security super fast. Don't have to take out all my various electronics like a laptop, Nintendo switch, ipad etc. Now, I can probably sleep in a little later instead of coming 4 hours early like an Asian grandpa. All the shops are new, they have beach style chairs, lots of charging stations, and the bathrooms look clean. The charging stations must've been shorted, or only the usb charging ports are working. My laptop can't even charge on the desks. read more
I don't fly out of Newark that often, but during this trip, the new terminal was very noticeable. I usually take NJ transit to get to this airport via the tram. I remember having the option to walk about 10 minutes to get to this terminal or take a shuttle. I opted to walk and check out the newness of everything, including lots of artwork. I didn't have an issue with signage and found my my gate without issue. There are tons of restaurants. I loved that they have small, local, owned small business shops representing NJ. On my return trip home, I didn't see an option for you to walk to the tram. We had to wait a little while for the shuttle bus to take us to the tram. Overall, I love that our airports are trying to catch up and modernize like a lot of international airports have already done. read more
