Senior folks don't know how to leave reviews so on their behalf: it seems that since a change in administration and in kitchen staff, about a year ago, the center has gone downhill. Food used to be cooked in house and the seniors loved it - heck who doesn't love a good home cooked meal? An older photo here shows how good it used to be. It would be served in a timely manner and everyone would enjoy the company. Attendance has steadily gone down since meals are now primarily ordered from elsewhere, reheated and served. Worse, it is not appetizing at all. Public school lunch vibes. They try get folks to take the left overs but no one wants banal food! Folks, our seniors are still people, they deserve to be treated much better. We are ALL getting older, is this the type of food and treatment you would like when you're over 70? Give these beautiful seniors back their good food! They may be older but they still deserve quality. They enjoy being with each other as their own personal circles of acquaintances get smaller, don't deprive them of what could be a great gathering place for them. Bring it back the way it used to be. Fully staffed on a Sunday and the workers were very welcoming and helpful. The pool here is spectacular. (Photos while patrons are in the pool ate strictly prohibited) so I was able to grab one quick pic before swimming classes started. Lockers are the more modern type with codes so you don't have e to bting a lock like some older rec centers require. Family bathroom/change rooms so parents with little ones can assist is a plus. Gym equipment was plentiful at the time we visited. I like the indoor walking track. Full calendar of events from dance, workouts, swim lessons etc . You're bound to find something to interest you. Media rooms and after school activities for kids. Indoor basketball court. Facility indoors and out very clean. It's new and I hope they upkeep this building. There's no car parking lot so street parking is the only option. Bike parking available Trains and buses are very close by so that's a plus. My favorite thing about NYC Park rec centers is membership cost- Free for kids and young adults up to 25 years and the very affordable rates for adults and seniors. Membership includes all centers in NYC .

AMAZING!!! This…read moreplace is actually fantastic and Dr. Melanie Carminati is a neighborhood gem. Melanie moved her office to Park Slope this summer from Carrol Gardens. I came here after a terrible experience at another place and I am so grateful they are now in the neighborhood. The entire process from start-to-finish was seamless and professional. The office staff helped me get an appointment earlier than normal because I was post-op (I had just undergone surgery for a fractured humerus/elbow) and this healing time is crucial. Most other places in the neighborhood wouldn't book me for another month and Inspira got me in the following week. I received all forms via email: intake forms, detailed instructions on how to work with insurance, and an electronic invoice. This was great, because it meant I could be taken immediately when I arrived for my appointment without waiting or sitting in a waiting room filling out annoying forms. I was immediately greeted by Melanie after checking in. She led me to the back where she sees patients in a private room. I was happy to see this, because PT can be nerve-wracking and I wasn't sure how much pain I was about to experience. It was also nice to get her full attention. Right off the bat, she started explaining everything to me from a medical perspective in great detail. She explained how the body works, that the elbow and other joints have capsules surrounding them, how the connective tissue works, etc. She also explained that we will need to work on my neck, shoulder, and elbow, because they would have all been affected as a result of the accident. This additional information about the process really helped me ease my nerves. The treatment was extremely gentle and thorough. The entire time, Melanie communicated to me what was going on and why she was doing certain things. She alternated between gently massaging my arm and stretching over an extended period of time instead of forcing my arm open over a short period of time. The stretches hurt, but her method of therapy made it so that it was bearable. I walked in with a 40 degree angle in my left arm and she got me all the way to 25! Her bedside manner is also as calm and gentle as you can possibly get. She gave me several exercises to do at home and helped me schedule me for appointments for the next few weeks to ensure that I get the treatment I need during this crucial time. I am coming back tomorrow. I highly highly recommend coming here. Dr. Melanie is extremely kind, intelligent, helpful, and skilled at what she does. I had a hard time getting an appointment in the neighborhood at some of the more well-known places, but I am glad I came here. This place is as good as it gets.

I never expected nor have I ever experienced a therapeutic or medical professional, paying…read moreattention to the finer details of my fat body...until now This is a team of dancers not bodybuilders. And that's an important distinction. The level of fat-phobia and misogyny I've had to navigate in past physical therapy environments is truly oppressive and detrimental to my health. But dancers are trained to see lines in the body. They tell me when my hips are 1 mm off, small impactful adjustments to my positioning that most physical therapist don't see buried beneath the fat. I've been doing physical therapy and private Pilates physical therapy here for the last six months. When I started, I was experiencing suicidal ideation's due to unmanageable chronic pain. Cranial sacral therapy had an instant effect on the way I was experiencing my pain and my ideations greatly lessened. The communication between therapists is so on point, all of my sessions, feel seamless between therapists, they all know exactly where I'm at and what I did in each session. That's a level of being seen I have never experienced in my life. ***** They do not take insurance.***** This is not their fault. It feels like all of the medical care that has actually had a positive impact on my chronic illnesses and disabilities are not covered by insurance. I am going to try a few fancy insurances, to see if they will reimburse some of what I'm spending. If I had one wish for the space is that I wish they could offer sliding scale to people in need.
