When she was diagnosed with alzheimer's it was hard on the family. The only place that makes her feel good and uplift her spirit is the senior center. I think it's because she's near people her age who she can relate and talk to. She doesn't always remember much but when she does it's about the mashed potatoes that are served at the center. The senior center not only serves hot food for a very inexpensive price but they allow senior citizens to be in a safe open space amongst themselves. They also have a ballroom where they sometimes celebrate birthdays with a small cake and everyone joins in on singing. I sometimes hope that when I turn 60 this place is still open so I can be apart of the inner community.

She is picked up and dropped off, feed lunch and dinner, surrounded by friends, caring staff and entertained during the day. The center provides art and music activities, chair yoga, discussion, interaction and much, much more! The New York Memory Center is been a blessing in all our lives and continues to provide a safe haven for my mom and piece of mind for me. If you need adult daycare for a loved one with dementia then this is the place!!!

From my personal experience Josephine Brown the director along with her staff hid information of possible abuse and mistreatment of my mother from me and my sister. Despite the fact as of last week I removed my mother from center I have yet to receive an explanation or apology. My mother had to undergo medical testing, something New York Memory Center failed to do. This company is cruel in commuting their clients for 2-3.5 hours on a van where the clients are hungry, tired, in need of toileting, etc. This is unacceptable for the elderly. They refuse to place cameras on their vans after my request months ago. The focus here is not the client's well being, it's the finances. NYMC has very poor practices, I regretfully learned this the hard way. When my mother no longer wanted to attend the center I continuously asked why and their response was always "she's fine". Please, please, anyone reading this be very cautious of this center. Your loved ones is important! They don't deserve to go through a traumatizing experience as my mom did.
